  • The 2023 Toyota Prius Prime, I believe, opens the door for mass PHEV adoption. The Prius Prime is affordable (on the scale of average transactions of new car sales), attractive, engaging and well appointed. The new Prius is also remarkably fuel efficient and has 72km of pure electric range. Find out more in this video review!

    EV range ?
Yesterday, we drove our 24 Prime for the first time in Hybrid Mode. For the first 3 months we've had it we only drove in full EV Mode but we were making our first highway trip and chose to select hybrid. Keep in mind, during those 3 months we have not once put gas in the tank ? Even with cooler spring temperatures here we have managed to get 80Km on a charge. Surprisingly, we still got over 80Km on the highway (at 100Kph), with gentle peddle use before the battery died. Even more surprisingly, at highway speed, the engine did not once start until the battery died. What's up with that ?
Today, we started out with a 100% charge in Auto EV Mode around town and the engine did operate frequently. We still saw an average consumption (after three legs), of about 3 L per 100Km. That's far better than our first two (non-Prime), models. Can't quite figure this thing out yet, but, it's a real sipper in any Mode. Love it.

Hybrid works for pretty much everyone, PHEV works for some, and you probably wouldn’t want an EV unless you can charge at home.

PHEV is literally the same thing as regular hybrid. You can go without charging it at home if you don’t want to

Looks are subjective. But I hate how all of a sudden it’s all about 0 to 60. Zero60s a joke anyways. It’s like the same way They ruined the fast and the furious franchise after the fourth one.

Go get a Supra! It's meant to save you the pain at the pump! I've heard all the complaints! It's not for everyone! 🙄

Good looking car, but it is more expensive than a Tesla model 3. Makes zero sense.

It certainly is a hard sell, but if you value UX, UI catered to a driver, hatchback compared to sedan and consistent quality of pretty much every part of the car ... you will probably buy Tesla, because if you like Prius you are already too late to get one in reasonable amount of time.

why compare it to an all electric? its not the same car....phev and hybrids are the way to go...i think if you dont have solar panels on the roof, and you don't have a house, a tesla is NOT for you...I see people supercharging that thing 2-3 times even daily!!! you know how harmful that is to the battery to be sending all the high voltage in a short time....super charging is only recommended once a week....if none of those apply, you shouldn't get an electric car....when you compare kWh cost to mph....its almost the same...electric being SLIGHTLY cheaper...so don't come here comparing apples to oranges...

@@jinsu0504 You compare to electric because they are trying to play on non-polluting virtues, and excellent fuel economy. Capiche? you are so behind the times dude. Tesla charging stations available everywhere. Very easy to charge you don't have to have a house. Get with the times. Much cheaper to operate electric, you are losing out with old school thinking.
