    lalal.ai is a service that can extract vocals and instrumental tracks from any music source with the help of a machine learning algorithm.
    'Inner City - Good Life' is one of my favorite tech house classics. In this video I'm making a retro modern remix of this track. Extracting the vocals with the help of the lalal.ai audio splitter and employing all the old and new hardware available in the studio (Korg M1, Arturia PolyBrute, Yamaha TX81Z, Yamaha CS1x, Korg MS-20, Roland TR-8S, Roland Jupiter Xm.
    Chapters:
    0:00 Intro
    0:32 Extracting the vocals out of the original track using lalal.ai
    1:52 Bass groove foundation with the TX81Z and M1
    3:26 Creating the beats on the TR-8S
    4:23 Melodic techno vibes with the PolyBrute
    5:26 Laying down some chords and building the break
    8:18 Extra vocal FX processing
    9:04 Building the track
    10:26 The final result

    My favorite remix of "Good Life" is the Matt Smallwood remix. It's just delicious and sooo cool. Lord knows how many remixes have been done of this enduring classic. They were still playing it at Akbar in L.A. back in 2014; it's magic on the dance floor. So glad I got to dance to it man times well beyond its original peak popularity back in the day. Your remix is fine; for some reason it reminds me of "Dreamer" by Livin' Joy. Interestingly, Inner City released a cool cut called "Good Luck" a few years back. It has a darker vibe than Good Life but is very cool. You seem to really know your stiff!

    I’m even older than Estuera but musically in the same place, kind of. I don’t listen to a lot of new electronic music, I don’t even really know where to start - most of the suggested music that comes my way on things like Deezer sounds pretty cheesy to me. Anyways, glad to hear someone say that melodic techno is trance because a) I noticed that no one says trance anymore b) I keep hearing trance c) Sasha is now referred to as a techno DJ. Love the mix btw! If I had the room I’d get an M1 but maybe I’ll demo the Korg vsti.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 роки тому

      I think melodic techno is basically old school trance continued. Meaning trance before the JP-8000, Virus Ti's and all the typical sounds you'll think of got introduced.
      Lots of people love to make melodic music but don't really want to have it marketed as if its the same music the current 'trance' generation is doing. I guess that's why the term 'melodic techno' was invented.

    Such quality content going on here. Thumbs up for the Alesis M1 mk2 😀 are those your primary monitors?

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 роки тому

      Yes, I've been using them for about 12 years now. Actually they are long due for an upgrade but this room (despite a lot of effort treating it) is simply not that great acoustically, mostly because it's a way too small box. This kind of makes getting new monitors a bit pointless for now. I know how the Alesis M1's sound in this room and I rely a lot in my HD600 and checking in my car and another sound system to make sure the mixes are all right.
      As soon as I move to a bigger space some new monitors will join the M1's though.

    • @Nemanjab604
      @Nemanjab604 3 роки тому +1

      @@Estuera Oh wow 12 years! You sure now every bit of it. I understand the struggle mate, even though I don't own them that long, but I do love the sound. Such a shame that the line was discontinued. Quite rare to find them used on the market where I live.
      Btw, I'm also in the market for something new, while keeping M1's for dj setup. Maybe this would be helpful to you. Because of your situation, check out Kali Audio LP6. There are dip switches for eq'ing them for the setup situation (near the wall, far from the wall, on a stand etc). Very interesting thing that i didnt see on other budget monitors. Other than that, there are other benefits you can check out (good stereo image, good mid, deep bass etc). Can't recommend as I didn't buy or heard them yot, but food for thought :)
      Keep up the good work! ;) Love the remix and I look forward to grab it when you release it

      1. Private use, just having fun with your favorite tracks and making remixes
      2. Dj bootlegs or creating stems to mix in live sets
      3. Using it as a demo for tracks that can be cleared or covered (with re-recorded vocals) later on. This happens quite a lot in the dance scene nowadays

      Actually I have a quite a few releases (including recent ones) on Spotify, Apple Music, and all the other platforms.
      Search for 'Estuera'. Most of those are melodic techno / trance , but I think later this year I'll also try and release some house tracks in the style of this remix. Really love to produce that stuff.

      Spectralayers indeed ;) But Steinberg isn't sponsoring ;)
      And tbh there (sadly) aren't that many Cubase users compared to the large crowds of Ableton and FL Studio. So this service is accessible by everyone.

    • @JPav91
      @JPav91 3 роки тому +2

      Ah my socially awkward brain didn’t put 1 and 1 together to realize this was sponsored. Yes it is a shame that Cubase is such a steep buy in, but it truly is the most feature rich DAW out there. I was lucky to get pro for $200 in a DAW cross grade promotion. Best decision I ever made.

    Awesome remix. I guess my big question is what’s the legality of separating a vocal? Is there copyright issues. Its not like sampling but it’s technically sampling. I can see a whole new area of law coming out of artists who don’t want their music to be ripped apart.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 роки тому +1

      As far as I know it will be the same as sampling legal wise.
