- iRobot has come a long way. Merging technology from the battlefield, to large scale floor cleaners, to toys into what would be the Roomba vacuum cleaner series. This ingenious invention has been around for over a decade and John gets a history lesson from their CEO Colin at the launch of the Roomba 880.

I got one and my life will never be the same lol really cool thing to have
amazing invention, my kirby needs the new brushes.
Would be nice to have an roomba app in the future!!
And now the e5 and i7
They need to invent a robot to clean the Roomba.
that's awesome!
Amazing invention!!!! It seems like hair would stick to the rubber just as easily and get wrapped up. They didn't show it picking up hair from carpet :/
Pretty sick. Not sure if these things will have enough suction power though.
They do
How does this compared with the Neato?
I purchased one of these. It does an excellent job of cleaning the non-carpeted floors in my house. However, what it doesn't do a great job of is responding to the virtual; walls and the remote. I would say it responds to each of these about 50% of the time. Other times it charges through the virtual walls and ignores the remote. Are their newer models any better?
+John Doe - I am glad yours works well. Mine still presents the problems I mentioned. When I purchased and received my initial 880, it;s response to the remote and the virtual walls was even worse than the one I have now. I called the company about it, and to their credit, they shipped me a replacement and I shipped the first one I received back to them. Unfortunately, while the replacement worked better than the one I originally received, it still has this problem of not responding to the remote or walls about 50% of the time. The batteries are fresh, so thats not the problem. What happens? Well, for example, I try to start it up and it doesnt respond to the remote. I start it by pushing the center button and then it starts to respond to the remote. I try driving the Roomba to the room I want to clean and it initially takes off and I am able to guide it, but then it dies and will not respond to the remote. I then start it again by pushing the center button and it responds to the remote again. I start driving again and again it stops responding. As for the virtual walls, sometimes it responds to them and sometimes it motors right through them. Since this problem existed on two different Roombas, it makes me think that it probably isnt all that uncommon. GREAT cleaning machines, but the response to ancillary equipment leaves much to be desired.
+John Doe - Remote problem occurs when Roomba is on, near or far away from dock. The extended lithium battery would make no difference other than to provide a longer run time. Current battery is doing a great job and provides sufficient juice for a long cleaning cycle and operation of all Roomba capabilities.
Just make a friggin' i2D2 and get it over with already.
stfu bitch
ibrahim Pasha ... No?
Dude its R2-D2, atleast get it right if you're trying to be a wannabe "nerdy hipster".
The sarcasm is strong with this one. There's no "wannabe" here. The nerdy contempt is real.
FIFO. Not GIGO.
1 step and goodbye : )
Rovno
Typical flash/whip transitions. Yawn.
