I clicked on this video out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. Excellent direction, realistic performances and great attention to detail. In some scenes I felt chills in my spine, what I liked the most about this movie is the method of story telling. These kind of films deserves praise, encouragement, platform & conscious audience !! Good work Sagher, keep it coming !
Similar incident happened in my hometown, the difference was she was a young widow with two kids and poor too, she was a tailor. A man used to abuse her everyday after drinking, he used to forcefully enter her house, one fine morning there was a lot of crowd in front of her house. Police was called, that man was dead, she castracised him with a new blade, after calling him in to meet her that night. She went to jail for 6months, but never any man tried to harass her ever in the town.
Pretty well thought. The fact that a storyline exsists even without the supernatural chain of progression is commendable. A very rare piece of narrative. The sub plots and the themes are presented immaculately. The idea of an ill deed haunting the people associated and not just the victim is depicted poetically and that is praise worthy.
Thank you for this, Harleen. The fact that you could fathom the depth of it and see through its layers is commendable. You're an intelligent viewer who adds value to the film and its meaning ❤️
Though not competent to comment but as a layman I feel pleasure always to see your growth and this performance of BANI in particular indeed a KNOCK for all self proclaims. God bless you all
Didn't understand one thing though... How come the daughters actually were born and got there ?? Also did Bela's soul really come inside Bani ?? Rest... Total pure thriller... 👌 Also asking these questions just out of curiosity bcz I really liked everything about this short film and hence there's a "want to know more" factor working in my mind...
I have seen so many short films in the past few years but this one was totally different and what a commenable job done by all the actors. The script and the directon are really appreciated.❤
Women empowerment is what this movie talk about. Typewriter is a symbol of fulfilling a girls dream without any boys intervention. (All were asked to type dream daughter and not son). Knife represents a symbol of moving out of old traditions where a girl had to depend on boy(father, brother, husband) to fulfil her own dream. At last, old lady seemed like the mother of old servant for whom she provided a replacement to set his son free as servants private was also amputed(probably one of the rapist) ...... male here refers to an identity of dominance over female.
Saw the film. It was amazing😀😀 Loved the song. A unique plot and a well executed performance by all characters. I liked Bani's character and acting the most. Congratulations for the film and hope it gets more views and acclaim.
Seghar it's totally a piece of art.Amazing story well put together and most importantly short movies are of 15-20min duration and this was a bit longer but You have engaged your audience so well that it didn't feel like I was watching since 30minutes.

Very well put up with the sensitive issue which women face, well portrayed.. without hurting any sentiments in the movie. All characters were superb! Kudos Sagher! Well done.. The background song is catchy as well..
After watching the movie I can say that everyone justice for their role, All crew did their job well , the narrating style speaks alot Special mention to Sagher the captain of the ship, Sagher red carpet is waiting for you👍👍

Hey Sagher, It's good to see you making films on a bigger scale. This one's a major stylistic deviation from all your previous films and I'd like to know why the visuals are so grounded and why you chose to grade the film this way. I am taking the liberty to ask these questions here, cuz I feel your perspective on the visual style of the film may address some of the criticism. Loved the lead actor's performance and the song's good too! Congratulations to you and the entire team! Can't wait to watch the next one! Goodluck, mate!
Hey Amey, thanks for watching it. Most importantly, thank you for being curious and asking questions in a decent manner instead of using cuss words/profanity/disrespectful language like most so called critics here. Most of them can learn it from you ❤️ Twenty-Five talks about the prevalent (cynical) matriarchal tradition in Bani's family, the antagonist Beena being the epicenter of it. Having witnessed what her mother, Bela underwent, she grows up with a lot of grudge and a revengeful mentality. Therefore, the core of the story is based around an ancient time (let's say around 60s). In my view, the warm tungsten-like tones represent an older era. An era of kerosene lamps, illiteracy, hardcore tradition, conservative minds, taboo, and so on. It's not organically a horror film, although it does borrow a few elements to achieve its effect. Moreover, I wanted it to look like a stage play that's audaciously raising fingers at the social evils in the society. When men in groups make evil plans and execute them (rape and murder), people let it pass because it has become quite common in memory. Here, there is a kind of role reversal with a bunch of women doing bad things. The reactions, harrumphs and frowns from these UA-cam Roger Eberts are hence a reaction to the same. It has hit where it hurts and has caused a stir. The typewriter and cleaver stand for something much deeper. The event of castration holds within it a deeper meaning of breaking/smashing/chopping/slicing evils of patriarchy, just like in the minds of evil men "rape" stands for assuming dominance over women in a society. The castration is the equivalent of rape. The concern for Arjun is pouring in from everywhere because these Eberts take everything on face value. The Popcorn Audience does not think beyond a certain point and then blames the film for being complicated/stupid/silly/illogical in what it is, and for talking what it talks about. The layers may not be readily understood to some. But that doesn't mean the film cannot be watched again or questions cannot be asked respectfully. But what do we do when we do not understand something? We hate it. I rest my case.
@@SagherManchanda totally agree with you. Actually the attitude of arjun in first scene shows what type of husband he is going to be. Rough and disrespectful towards woman. So I like the film specially after reading your explanation.
It’s been an honour to watch my dear friend Sagher A. Manchanda ‘s brilliant Short Film- “Twenty-Five”. Upon watching it, I was thrilled to notice how it has succeeded in portraying that the onus of strength and power can absolutely change its institution, how women are not the second fiddle anymore, how women doesn’t have to Woo-Men anymore because the power lies in them, it’s latent but it’ll soon surface when the right time comes. Now the History will not be His-Story but Her-Story! Amazed by the acting done by the entire cast, the tailor made music score by David McKenzie, the close shots showing every expression in its detail, eyes speaking the emotions and last but not the least- My friend Sagher’s hardworking efforts to make this short film so amazing.
