Starship IFT-4 took place on June 6th, 2024, and launched at 12:50 UTC. It is the first test flight of Starship with a successful soft splashdown of Super Heavy booster B11, and successful entire atmospheric reentry of Starship S29, which also managed to perform a soft splashdown in the Indian ocean despite major flap damage and multiple heat shield tiles loss.

...and a UA-cam suggestion pops up at the end covering the whole screen and blocking the view of the splashdown. I suggest you add 10 seconds of extra filler at the end to stop this happening. Otherwise, excellent.

@@Planum. Yeah, all we know is that it'll be in a few years from now on, i hope my beloved Falcon 9 NEVER retires, if the FH gets retired, yeah it would be sad, but, not as sad as if the Falcon 9 gets retired i hope they use the Starship/Superheavy and the Falcon 9 in a parallel opperation

I understand that interstellar was great, but the fast pace of 30 raptor engines going off doesn't go well with a slow pace of this song.
Hans zimmer composed so many pieces that go with the fast pace of a Rocket ship, for example: Ignition (Man of Steel) or Arcade (Man of Steel)

The only change I'd suggest is that you intercut the booster landing tracking/buoy video with the on-board video instead of showing them separately, otherwise its perfect.

A dope ass video!! Just one little suggestion, the balance between the volume of music and the announcements/voiceover can be adjusted a bit. It’s more fun to listen what they say, at points the music was drowning them. Listening the countdown would be great!

I’ve heard the interstellar music so many times now that the first two things that pop into my mind is old crapy KSP music videos and some short made by a Ai science channel.
The whole 1st part is done perfectly well. Fantastic timing all the way to the end of "No time for caution". After that, having the song starting again was a bummer. Unfortunately I have no good suggestion of how to keep the dramaturgy up, but SpaceX will deliver more good stuff, so there will be many chances to figure that out, if you like ;-)

I recommend doing another of these using the Mission impossible theme for the catch. Dead reckoning theme should work very well.

2:35 Are those shockwaves at 100s of meters above the olm a new thing due to the power of this rocket or is it the improved cameras (frame rate?) these days that make them more visible?
The Falcon 9 produces pressure waves on liftoff but I don't recall seeing mid air shockwaves on any other vehicle.

why doesn't space x build an electromagnetic catapult to launch spaceships that would save a lot of fuel that is a huge complex to catapult spaceships into orbit
Question, why wouldn’t the grid fins be put in vertical position for ascent? Why are they fixed in horizontal. I’m not taking about flush with the rocket like the falcon 9 btw.
Excellent question. In my opinion, the actuators needed to raise them in a horizontal position for descent would add a significant amount of weight. Indeed, each grid fins weights 3t, so it would require very powerful actuators to move them to a horizontal position, given the position of the actuators relative to the grid fin. As we know all the actuators used for Superheavy and Starship are electric, so it would also use a lot of energy adding even more of them. What's more, the grid fins don't disturb the aerodynamic flow when they are perpendicular to the relative wind. That's why they only change the aerodynamic flow when rotating, which enables them to steer the rocket.
