The fact that this vehicle is 2x more powerful than the Space Launch System, which the SLS is more powerful than the Saturn V, is absolutely incredible!
Is it really that impressive? I mean, the engines are. But the vehicle itself? Starship didnt even make it to a proper orbit yet. Without cargo. Next will be the fifth launch. When we raced to land on the moon, we had 10 launches in the same timeframe, the tenth brought humans to the moon, with a mock landing attempt. We are lucky if starship ever makes it to orbit, empty, and doesnt break apart afterwards.
@@Galaxius2117 The engines definitely are. Reusing the boosters is also a pretty impressive engineering trick. Not arguing against that. Starship on the other hand is a bit like a hot turd right now in terms of engineering and accomplishments.
I think it’s so cool that the Starship is running on all six Raptors with no problems and it’s just keeps on going to space with no issues LOVE IT! Everyone is watching the booster and the Starship just keeps on burning going to orbit! yeah Baby!

This is why I like iterative development and testing to failure. It is not meant to be a complete success, it is meant to expose issues and weaknesses. So it's cool to see their reaction as the flap is slowly disintegrating, they are not worried about it, simply intrigued and entertained. If it works you get all the data, if it explodes in a billion pieces..... you still get all the data AND a one of a kind firework show.

@about 34:00, the deceleration is about 100 kilometers an hour every two seconds, only because of air resistance.... that is about what you would feel slamming the brakes in a race car for 5-10 minutes !!! The acceleration from Earths gravity is about 9.82 meters per second per second... this is about 1½ times more, or about 14 meters per second per second.... that is crazy !!!!
Sorry if my question had already been answered but i dont see it anywhere below. What are all the white flakes coming off the shuttle? 10:17 for a time stamp. If i had to guess i would imagine ice?

Because i'm not a phsic expert (more the opposite). How works a landing burn ? Is it an an explosion used to slow down the ship (or any piece landing), and if yes, how does an explosion or an burn slow down the vehicle ? Or am i mixing two different things ?
Are you asking what the rocket is doing during the landing burn? If so, it is essentially reigniting it's engines in order to slow the vehicle down for a soft landing. There really isn't an explosion, just the rocket relighting. This goes for both the booster and Starship itself. However, during the Starship landing the last 30 or so KM the ship is doing a belly flop (falling horizontally) and then about 1 KM from the surface it lights it's engines and flips the rocket right side up to come in vertically and slow down. I hope I answered what you were asking.

Can they slow down Starship in the future so it doesn’t have to enter the atmosphere at 17,500 miles an hour and maybe slow it down?
Slowing down using boosters requires a lot of fuel. The whole idea of the heat shield is to do the work of slowing down instead of boosters.
An extremely amateurish question.
