  • Take a look at what is left of Temple bar marina. When you see things like this the reality of the drought and over usage of water really kicks in. Soon one day this may all be driveable land.

    Wow, thanks for the tour. Sad to see this. I use to be Captain of the Desert Princess Tour boat,dinner ferry on the lake back in 2000 through 2003. I helped move the marina in Boulder City twice as the water was receding a lot even back then, 20+ yrs ago.

    So strange to not see a single person anywhere. 😕 It would be so eerie walking around there.

      It is usually what you find in the DESERT. Not much including water & people.

    Appreciate that you must have walked several miles for all of us to see what the marinas conditions are like. Could not help but notice the large roll around tool boxes on the right side of the walkway going into the 1st part of the marina. Imagine having to push that large tool boxes filled with tools all that distance!! At least the boaters are prepared to repair the boats if needed.

    • @joeme
      @joeme 2 роки тому

      No need to fix the boats, they will set down nicely on the DESERT FLOOR as the water that isn't supposed to be there disappears . . .

      You could not honestly think building mega casino’s and having millions of tourist come and not think that planning from 1920 was going to be able to keep up with the demand of water do you?

    You’re a little late with this update… when did you film this? Didn’t this one close back in May?
    Hemenway Harbor is the only boat launch open and it’s going down fast there too. They’ve had to move that Marina twice in the last month or so and the last time was 80’ because it was already starting to get lodged in the mud after it moved a few weeks earlier.

    🤔Farming in the dry desert........What a joke!🤯

    • @joeme
      @joeme 2 роки тому

      Not as big a joke as building homes and cities in a place without a natral water source large enough to support it.
      Ourr cave dwelling and cliff dwelling ancestors knew better, they moved out of the DESERT!

    Why hasn't the park service cleaned up this mess? Tires & Motors & Batteries mostly, then maybe the Boats too? It's on park land, the the federal government should be cleaning this mess!

      No, under Mead is the Colorado River. Also Mead never got all the agricultural runoff that poisoned the Salton Sea.

    If you think that a little rain and a little snow pack is going to bring Lake Mead, Back. Your out of reality..If you were to get 10 times the water this year all a long the Colorado..It wouldn't be enough... Do the math or ask the bureau of reclamation to do the math .. Before you talk...

      It took a little over three years to fill it up in the 30's when there was nobody living in the DESERT to suck it dry.
