I still remember your emotional moment when you were trying to get pregnant and your worries about how it was taking longer than you thought. Then your pregnant announcement. And now you’re a mother. Your life is now forever changed and things that were so easy before require a different type of management. But, very much worth it. Blessings of good health to you both.

As a former hospital maternity RN, I want to thank you for your honesty regarding your feelings related this new chapter of your life!! It must be such an overwhelming scary feeling when attending to your crying newborn, when you are also simply new to handling a baby, you've just been through surgery after a labor with complications, and you are still healing yourself. Then we can mention how exhausted women can be after delivery....while dealing with everything else at the same time. It's a lot, and you likely are handling things far better than you think. It's going to take time to adjust to your new lifestyle, and just remember to give yourself grace. Congratulations to both you and your husband on this new blessing in your life together. Your husband's demeanor (being relaxed), is probably a good balance for you! ENJOY this time.... stay hydrated and nourished, and remember....the 'body heals best at rest' (or so says one of the nuns at my nursing school back in 1990!!). 🤭 💕

@@Celebrinthal You words are so kind - thank you, but sad at the same time. 💕 When I suddenly became permanently disabled, I found myself accepting my new life to the best of my ability. Each time a new doctor/discipline became part of my medical team...the one thing that 'got me'....was answering the question....'What was your line of work?'. It brought me to tears every time for what seemed the longest time! I missed my work in a way I didn't even try to explain. It's been almost 9 yrs now....& my eyes are watery just thinking back to how much I thrived on being an advocate for 'my mom's and babies'. All I can do now is encourage people to utilize their resources to the best of their ability and be proactive - for themselves, their loved ones, and their community. I am discovering for myself how exhausting that can be - and was! I'm just older now!! I'm relocating to a new state this summer, and with that comes my new medical team with new health insurance. It will be exhausting - but it will take one foot in front of the other (literally!!). Hang in there! 👍

The crying in the evening… we call that the “witching hour” in the USA. Mostly it is gas or reflux. Make sure you get the burps out and help him toot by rubbing his belly and bringing his knees to his chest and give a little push. It helps release the gas. Also, you aren’t feeling your husband’s chill because you have hormones that are a result of birthing a child. It’s your body’s way of preventing you from abandoning your child and ensuring you meet his needs. You literally have some of your baby’s DNA in your brain. Give yourself Grace. Lots and lots of grace.

For tummy pain : or uncontrollable crying:
Gently rub his stomach, also you can hold him on his tummy with your palms on his tummy, him face down - in your arms and gently sway ...
It helped with my 2nd baby, 1st baby I had not figured it out just kept rubbing his tummy ...
    Your doing beautifully mama ❤

I'm happy that you are able to talk about your experience, and I could see the struggle behind the beautiful smile on your face. Don't feel pressured to have everything under control. Having a constant (knitting) in this new life is super important and a blessing! Don't forget that you are you, not just a mom ❤ take care and blessings! He's a cute little person 💕

❤best wishes to you and your little family. As an old mom, I thought I’d share a bit of wisdom that was shared with me that helped in the first weeks after birth. Your body is shedding all the pregnancy hormones that you no longer need, and it can make your emotions feel overwhelming. A roller coaster. So know you’re not alone, and we are thinking of you. And after about the 2 months mark, things will settle into more of a routine. You’ve got this! 🎉

I remember when my first son was born. I took one look at him and wondered where this little stranger came from. The first few months can be a bit chaotic but gradually as hormones settle and little baby systems get used to breathing on the outside instead of the inside, it all comes together perfectly. Congratulations to you both. He's really beautiful.

Be kind to yourself as everyone becomes adjusted to each other. You love the baby before he’s born but it just takes some time to get to know him as an individual. Soon, confusion will turn into utter understanding. Every squeak, gurgle, burp and the dozens of different cries will suddenly become a whole new language you and your husband will understand perfectly.

Omg yay! I was just thinking about you & wondering how you, hubs & bubs were doing! So great to see yall are doing well. Congrats mum & dad ❤❤❤
Best 2 bits of baby advice i was given, was.... "everyone will have an opinion & how they think things should be done. Itll drive you nuts but take it in & file it away - you never know when that random advice will pop into ur head & help at 4am!" And...."routine routine routine. Itll make ur life & babies life easier & bubs more settled if you have a routine".
Now the most important thing is to look after yourself, take it easy & just enjoy ur time bonding with baby & dad! Its a really special time, especially with the first when its all new experiences & learning! Just remember that every mum has been in that same position of having bubs & not being sure what to do - but so long as bub is warm, clean dry bum & fed you are doing fine!!
I remember the overwhelming feeling of not only "omg what have i done" to "how do i do XYZ??" to feeling so much overwhelming love that ur chest hurts - which can take a while (i had PPD so took about 6 months for that real bond feeling for me) & thats ok too!
So long as you are looking after yourself youll do just fine! Plus theres plenty of ur youtube family out here if you want any suggestions on anything & how we all did things with our babies! Im so glad that everyone is safe & well ❤❤ big hugs & love to you three ❤

Congratulations to you and Yuki. What a beautiful family you have. Although time goes by slowly some days, one day you blink, and it's 30 years later. No one ever gets to the end and says 'I wish I had worked more'. Cherish the moments.

Sounds like you and I had a very similar birth story. You’re reminding me how it took a while for me to realize how scary the birth was…but look at your beautiful boy! You look very grounded and positive. Hugs and well wishes to you all!

Awwww Kika, soooo happy for you and Juki! Tearing up watching, remembering giving birth to my two babies and just reliving all the emotions.
You two are going to be amazing parents. Keep an honest line of communication with Juki and those closest to you, postpartum is hard and you’ll need all the support from your loved ones.
Take things slow and give yourself grace because parenting is beautiful, magical very hard but oh sooo worth it!
    Welcome to motherhood!

Hi Kika! Thank you for sharing this cute and heartfelt vlog with us ❤ your baby is so cute 🥰 I’m glad you are both doing well and I’m sorry that you had a difficult birth. I wish you to continue recovering well. It was so nice to hear you talking about your emotions and the process of adapting to be a new parent. It felt like you put in words all that I felt too more than 3 years ago when I became a mother myself. The beginning is so hard, and I also felt that my partner was such a natural wonderful dad while I was struggling so much. Most of that is hormone’s fault and it gets better and easier 🙏🏻 in a sense, it is like knitting…one step (stitch) at the time. Good luck and a big hug!

Grattis!

Aw, you're doing great, and what you're experiencing is so normal. My first baby was so hard! The adjustment and changes are unbelievable. It's allllll new and feels like so much, but rest assured with time, you start to get more familiar and comfortable, and when you hear a cry you can tell if it's a hungry cry, or wet diaper cry- you'll become the expert in your baby. Your body has been through a lot, so give yourself many months to recuperate and allow yourself to live and work slowly. Congratulations!!

I am an Obstetric doctor and always worry and wait to hear about friends having babies and it was the same waiting for your baby! I have had 3 emergency caesareans myself. It’s ok if you feel disappointed about it, it feels better with times enjoy your baby xx

Congratulations on becoming parents to a sweet little boy. This is a new chapter in your life, enjoy every moment. Work around your own schedule. Work and knitting will always be there but your baby is only small for a short time. Thanks for all you have already done for us as knitters with your beautiful patterns.

Congratulations and welcome to motherhood 🎉those feelings of missing your old life will continue to linger, especially as new challenges arise BUT you will also adapt to your new normal and as the saying goes: The days are long but the years are short! Be gentle with yourself and do not ever feel like you owe it to anyone to post and create content. Some days will be great and others quite tough h it that is motherhood and you will thrive in your new role. Congratulations and enjoy these early years as a mom because before you know it, your little baby will be almost as tall as you and not needing you for everything and you will miss, even the toughest day as a new parent. Cheers to you and your gorgeous new little family 🫶🏽🥂🥰

Congratulations! He is adorable ❤ it’s been almost 28 years since I had my son he was premature and it was a very scary experience. Your honesty and very real emotions through out your pregnancy will be a comfort to any expectant Mom lucky enough to come across your vlog. I’ve always watched for the knitting but love how you share all parts of your life with us. By the way that almost 28 year old premie is getting married this fall. Now I get to experience this new stage of his life.

Thank you for being so candid about your experiences before/during/after your whole journey! So much of the harder parts go unsaid because we all worry about seeming ungrateful or negative about motherhood, but it really can be such a rollercoaster in the beginning. You are doing a wonderful job!

Your transparency and honesty is so lovely and helps viewers like me to remember what it was like to be a new mother for the first time, for some of us decades and decades ago.. please know, it’s okay to relax and just go with your intuition, and not feeling like you “must do this, or that” because the only things that really matter are love, food shelter and washing up. The rest of it, isn’t so important and can wait.. and we will wait for whatever creative things you bring, whenever you feel like it. Much love ❤

Congratulations on your baby! And yes, the first few weeks with your first baby are hard, There is no getting around that. My love to you and your family as you learn that. Please give yourself space and love - you will not be able to do everything you did before, but you will have a new love in your life.

I am so happy for you! I am a new mom and just gave birth to a son in March 13th as well (via C section as well). So happy for you and your son. Wishing you the best in your recovery. I enjoyed all your videos through my pregnancy and always thought we’d be due around the same time. I am very new to knitting so enjoy all your videos and hope to have the time to knit some of your designs in the future when I’m not so sleep deprived. 😅 So happy for you!
