That RP impressed me more than it had any right to.
I thought about getting the Sony but then I saw the lense prices.. I really wonder why Sony lenses are so expensive. I already have canon lenses so the switch would be very expensive
@@Seitenwerk RF lenses are more expensive than Sony's, and you can get a MC-11 adapter for using EF lenses on Sony cameras.

Au Contraire, my friend. While we dont have American level Ghettos, we do have our Ghettos. Some weekends, in the Toronto Ghettos, 4 people get shot in the area of 1 intersection alone.
Toronto is safe as long as you dont go to 1 of 2 places:
1) Public Housing Neighbourhoods
2) Malls located near Public Housing Neighbourhoods
**If you do have to go to these higher risk areas, the best time to go is early morning, from 6 a.m. 9 am. Low-life Scum usually get home a few hours before these times and are sleeping off their degenerate ways. I have stood in some of the worst areas of Toronto, where crime, drugs and murder are rampant, but I went in the morning hours mentioned above and it was peaceful and safe for those few hours I was there. Thugs hate the hours of 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. They prefer to sleep.

Actually impressed with the Canon RP video quality wow (I thought it look even look a little better than the Sony(I know the Sony spec wise is way more advance)) for 1300 and a free adapter and grip and potential to mount RF lenses not bad Canon... That Tamron lens looks amazing also!!
Honestly. Just buy the 12 f/1.4 or 15 f/1.7 and save the money. Differences were minimal
For what he is doing I would tend to agree. Although the Sony and that Batis 25 or whatever it was nice.

I love my EOS R. In regards to "colors" it seems like you could of had Ambiance priority instead of White Priority. Also, because this is a DEMO model the last person using it could have messed with it. I've never had any issues with my colors on my EOS R.

Canon EOS R likely had ambient setting on white balance, which is why it was so much warmer. Didn't even know it existed, sorry.

I agree I liked the Batis F2 lens on the A7III, BUT the GM 24mm F1.4 is tasty! I don't think IBIS alone is good enough for handheld footage you need to get a gimbal to make it more cinematic if that is what you are going for.

Regarding the difference of white balance between the EOS R and RP, some Canon cameras have two auto WB options: Ambiance priority and White priority. It's possible the RP was on White priority while the R was on Ambiance priority (which makes colors more warm). On the Canon M50 you have these two options as well.
That would explain it.

While I agree, it's not exactly fair, because the EOS R was clearly white balanced using a tangerine.
@@MegaNardman True and I just looked up the "less" expensive RP and it costs 1300 body only, about 2000 with a decent lens. I don't see the hype, I can get a A7iiR for 2000 -2300 with a lens and it's a way better camera.
Looks like the RP was set to AWBW and the R was only using AWB regular. It’s a setting you can switch around to force white point. Sony A7III has this too.
Canon Auto WB has 2 settings, White priority and Ambient Priority, I think the cameras have different AWB settings

Did you have any picture profile enabled on the Sony, or just Standard?
Just standard for all cameras except Panasonic I was using my usual Natural setting.

It was really good. Excepting autofocus, I would not have traded the G85 for ANY of the others straight up except for the Sony.
@@artjohnson01 Why? The EOS R was focusing noticeably better than the A7iii.
The color was off on the EOS R. Skin tone was too red. Perhaps it was the white balance, or the saturation, but IMHO it was not good. I had no complaint with any of the autofocus except the G85.
Ooof that autofocus though. I'm not trying to get any more seizures, he needs to ditch Panasonic asap.
Would that RP lens be better for color grading? Those R lens Canon colors remind me of the stock I get from my T3i

Liked the Panasonic 12 and 15 they both looked good and the wb didn't seem wonky like on the others. But it's enough to give you a headache trying to figure out which one is the best for you. After your GH5 12 test I said f it and bought that. Been pretty happy so fat

I prefer the way the A7iii renders your skin tones vs canon. You don't look like you have blotchy red patches.

I'm probably Biased, but i loved the look of the Sony+Batis. But for vlogging you should try the 16-35 f4, it's steady as hell with the OSS!

the pana skin colours were more pleasing. sony quite ok. canon not so good- but color grade would solve it i guess.
the jitter was bad bad in canon, sometimes bad in sony.
I would not switch until they make the cam that ticks all the points.

I thought both the Panasonic lenses were better. I'd just get one of them and wait to see how things look a year from now. I feel like you're so itchy about getting a new camera but we're just getting to a point where things are gonna heat up and we'll see some crazy stuff released over the next 12 to 16 months.

Whoa... despite the line skippy stuff going on in the sensor, the EOS RP surprised me with its sharpness after the Panasonic and Leica lenses... but then the EOS R came along and upped the ante. Another surprise was the A7 iii NOT being as sharp as the EOS RP, but then again it could've been because of the lenses, prime on Canon (35mm 1.8) vs zoom on the Sony (kit lens at that too). What was missing was the test of the A7 iii with a Tamron 28-70 mm 2.8 which according to Dave Dougdale, "acts and behaves just like a Sony G master lens" (plus the stabilisation is supposed to be tripod like when standing still)... But of course, you'd be walking while vlogging and, sadly, the RP and the R have the flippy screen advantage... SOOOO... back to the black & white (or even sepia coloured) boardroom I guess. Meanwhile, what the heck is Stacy the blind elephant doing underwater? Her best (sorry, couldn't resist... I'll show myself out)

My Panasonic G80 just shit the bucket this evening....... I'm thinking one of the Sony's A6300/A6400/A6500. There doesn't seem to be a huge difference so I'm going to probably get the one I can get the best deal on. Any thoughts?
Eye In The Sky 64000 for the best AF, better battery life, no 30min limit and no overheating. L bracket for mounting a shotgun mic if you use it. One of the better buys.

Weird, I tested the 35mm with the EOS R in a camera store with similar harsh lighting (most recent vid) and got a totally different color/look. The white balance settings must have been off, or something...

The auto white balance colors on Sony looked best to me. That with the 24mm f1.4 :)

TBH, as a videographer, I would take the IS over a blurry background. You have no idea how life changing it is to not worry so much if you didn't bring any tripod or monopod to shoots.

This was so enjoyable. Also I like the RP a lot. Think the stabilization isn’t as bad as you think. The A7III didn’t look that crisp to me. Anyways man awesome video, so hilarious seeing you dance around that store lol.

First off, thanks for all the great comparison footage. Really great! Canon EOS R with Tamron 15-30m and with 35m F1.8 was really fast and accurate auto focus and very sharp. Some of the others were slow focusing including the Sony A7III.

I have the R and A7iii. For sitting at a desk I do prefer the Sony. I use the R for moving around. I liked the colors out of the RP better than the R. But you cannot beat the a7iii for video. Great video as always

Wow I am shocked at how good the RP Looks...were you shooting in 1080p 30FPS or 25FPS? I was really bummed there was no 24fps on the RP but this changes things a bit.
30p on all cameras.
There's not a lot of difference between 24 and 30fps it's another engineered gripe!

The Missing Link's Younger Brother Manufactured or not Canon legit stabbed the video nerds in the heart not adding 24fps. I can certainly tell the difference. I went back to some of my 30fps footage and was like “whoa; that looks....not like what I’m used to” it’s totally workable but for real the 24fps thing is the only thing wrong with this camera in my opinion. I’d be nice if it shot in ALL-I but life can continue without that. I also have the 80D if I really want to kick it up to that level. Man this may finally be the one for me. Stick with the 80D or jump into the RP universe.
Kasey, what's wrong with the Panasonic 12-35 or 12-60? Both are stabilized and neither the 12mm nor the 15mm is. Plus, the zooms would give you a choice and you could get the exact field of view you want, with superior 'Dual IS' stabilization.
They aren't fast enough. Stabilization was fine on both lenses, so losing that low light performance and blurry background to improve something that was already perfect isn't worth it. Plus, that 15mm is only 115 grams.
@@cameraconspiracies Makes sense. The 15 is probably my favorite lens overall, but might be too long for vlogging. My money is on the 12. :)

The RP seemed smoother with just lens IS. Wonder if the movements were similar enough though...
The Tamron lens you could hear the AF really well, so that’s out.
Funny how the a7iii had dust on the sensor. Guess demo models get abused though.

Canon focus is phenomenal and the RP's video looked great, but honestly I still prefer the look of the Panasonic.. consider me biased and a creature of habit but I love their look.
Stabilisation is best out of all of them too, by a good margin.
In fact, I bought a G85 based on your videos since I'm fine without great AF-C. They really have something special about them imo. Get some Panasonic-Leica 15mm in your life friend.
Alternatively, Canon RP maybe with an adapted EF 35 f2 IS? Seems like the sweet spot for price:performance for that system. As you said though, stabilisation, stabilisation..
M50 with the viltrox would give almost the same performance and look at much lower price. would love to see him test that against the larger sensor more expensive camera's. I also liked the Panasonic but I am blind in all 3 and 1/2 of my eyes.

Nikon And Canon come in last place in the mirrorless world. My how times have changed.
Maybe he should look at the GH5 and sell the old G85 to me for $100 American.
