    I see division in politics is still running full-steam. I haven't kept up with it in a while but I make a comment about a trump shirt and lost 28 subscriber so far, all I have to say is why even think about Thailand if they are intolerant to somebody who might not think like them this is not the place to be.

      Just making themselves miserable Chuck! If everything offends that easily. My land lady was wearing a t-shirt with a Swastika on it one morning. My friend said to her " why are you wearing it" "Fashion" She had no idea what it signified. When you stopped and said " I need to give him another American flag" Right before that was a picture of Che Guevara on the gate. No one got offended! Great to be in Thailand!

    How kind of you to help Martin out. Medical insurance is really the most important issue when retiring. Awesome 👏🏼

    • @TheThailightZone
      @TheThailightZone 3 роки тому +1

      True. Can't tell you how many "I self insure" people I have seen disappear from Thailand bankrupt with no options. If you need triple bypass surgery you are up for >10 million baht. Most 'self insurers' actually have a cookie jar with 450 baht of coins in it. They promote their ideology about insurance, but you never hear from them when the sh^t hits the fan, beacause they can no longer afford internet. My point. PLEASE GET INSURANCE PEOPLE.

    Always good to hear other peoples experiences of Thailand, he seems like a nice guy.
    I am not retired in Thailand but always make sure my medical / travel insurance is up to speed prior to leaving for anywhere.
    So many people travel without it, then cry about it when something happens, for me it is just peace of mind.
    Thanks for sharing Chuck.

    This interview was spot on. I'm very happy you did it and how openly both of you talked about the differences and how to master them. It also has a lot of info for how to get over to Thailand for living and health insurance which is an important thing, especially when you get older. Once I retire in 2 to 3 years, I will as old as Martin is today. So I'm so glad to see that you can get a reasonably priced health insurance in Thailand and not like in Europe where the monthly payment would be as big as Martins monthly budget. Thank you very much to both of you.

    Martin is a very interesting guy, and I'm glad he let you pick his brain a bit to get the perspective of a single retired guy in Thailand. I love his humble attitude and it's great to see that a budget can be so low and still be content in the greatest place on Earth. I love people watching too, and get where he's coming from, just enjoying life and whatever happens, happens. This was very entertaining and thanks for posting. Cheers, Tony

    What an excellent vid, a really wonderful guy and eye opening discussion. Chuck I really loved watching this. I have a very good understanding of Thai culture having been around Thai's for the last 18 years. I love their culture and their outlook on life. Family is definitely number one in Thai culture and I admire them for that. I think that us farangs can learn from them about how important family really is. Your humour is so radical and I loved the guy in the shop. You said that he was probably the most intelligent guy in Thailand and I agree judging by his t-shirt.😂 Lovely vid and regards to Paige and family. God bless and stay safe. Pete from South Africa.👍👏

    Martin is an example of what others should expect. We're mentally much younger than we are physically. I think a lot of people misinterpret the need for companionship, with some devious intensions, but in reality are just a need for connectivity to other human beings. I think his comments towards end of life decisions is an area that few people even address. That topic would take multiple episodes, and never be resolved. This was a good episode, thanks.

    Many medical insurance policies in Thailand are an “add on” to life insurance policies and the actual medical expense limits can be low by international standards. The limits may be satisfactory for covering minor medical expenses but may not be adequate to cover a serious medical event. If you have additional coverage from your home country then fine but if you don’t, consider the adequacy of the medical coverage and limits carefully.
