Welcome to my channel. I make lots of music based videos, mainly dancing to really nice music. My music choices are based on having a first love of Soul and Funk music, although I love a lot of different types of music and rhythms. I enjoy sharing this love and making videos to re-imagine those tunes. I try to mix up classics with tunes not so well known, and putting creative and artistic visuals to the tunes can be fun and interesting, and the process of making videos is part of my journey which has led me to do lots of different things. I have released my own CD through Universal Music, and I have worked with many different companies and style brands where Music or Dance has been part of the campaign. I have worked for the BBC on Strictly as a choreographer, and danced with Pharrell at The Brits. I have had Music Radio Shows and I DJ as part of @streetsofsoul and sometime we put on events too!!

I’m ashamed to say up until recently I had never heard of this Northern soul dancing, living and growing up in rural Norfolk probably hasn’t helped, and then one night I saw a video showing this young lady dancing...her feet seemed to float, her face shone with pure happiness, and my fsce started smiling, my foot tapping and I was hooked 😁, just wish I’d known about this 50+ years ago before I reached my 70’s....I would have so loved to dance like this....Thankyou for giving me such a good feeling, and showing how talented you are. This is how Northern Soul should be danced. Freedom of expression and fluidity. None of that place one foot here and one foot there rubbish. You absolutely just keep on doing what you feel like doing.

@Howard but if it is dancing in any way that you want then how can it be a style of dance? I don’t know much about it so it is a genuine question.
@@Laptopdog78 I just said it was fluid and expressive, it’s still clearly Northern Soul dancing but not the rigid beginner steps often seen. My mate “Fuzz” was the best I ever saw, he floated around the Wigan Casino dance floor, it was effortless.
@@Laptopdog78 A dance style is a set or dictionary of specific moves, body mechanisms and physical rhythmic styles all put together as a "product", but to "dance" or have soul is to use those moves in a free spirited way to what music you want without routines or set combinations, or thinking too hard about the dance. It has to become muscle memory, not just a sequence you memorise, or a manual task where you're just "doing moves". People get dance back to front. It's all about inner rhythm and freeness of mind, the moves augment and follow the rhythm, as opposed to "forcing the moves to match the music" as many do, leading to stiff or souless dancing, (aka what they'd call "whitness").
@@Mr-Tibbster It boils down to this: you have to be so good that it looks natural.
As an old school NS dancer myself this girl has got rythm and class.
She knows the Secret. It's something that can't be known with the intellectual mind, it can't be described, and it can never be taught, it can't even be danced to. You can't learn it, as it can only ever be known. You can only surrender unto it with all your heart. When this happens, everything falls away and there is no separation only oneness with the soul, suddenly there is 'Zero Distance' between you and the music as it flows through you and moves your body spontaneously in a beautiful blissful expression, that is dance. 💙

I have only been into northern soul 3 years and I get sick of people saying there is a certain way that's not soul,sorry but we all dance our own style of soul.I think this ladies dancing is great. It's better to be yourself and not follow the mass.

@Santina Crolla I was wondering, too. He definitely used the wrong words to say what he meant, if he meant anything positive. I have come across one person who used the word "childish" in a setting where it was highly inappropriate to have said it, even if they thought so. I asked if they meant "child-like". They did, but this commenter, here, would still be way off if that's what was meant. Unsophisticated also doesn't at all fit an observation of her dance and talent. BUT, still I seem to see positivity in their memory, so maybe he actually means what he's saying, and relates it to just being young and inept or something.

This beautiful young woman is a brilliant northern soul dancer and equally good at many other styles of dancing. Been watching her videos for a while now loved the ones abroad something a bit different I hope you get to travel again levanna .

Reminds me of a time when a great number of soulies moved into/on to the disco/jazz funk scene, she's a great mover and a class act ❤👍
I was one of em - Northern Soul seemed to die a death around me in the mid 80's gravitated towards jazz funk Maze, Brass Construction, Mark Winkler, NYLA Dream Band etc. As Robbie Vincent's jingle used to say - "If it moves - Funk It!"
Over the last few years we've had somewhat of a resurgence and there's Northern Soul events in my hometown almost every week, plus there's always something a little further afield - gotta love the internet :-P

Now that's how I used to do it 30 odd yrs ago along with spins and splits. Won a couple of comps with it to. Once you learn the shuffle it just feels so natural.
