Just as an FYI, “deloading” doesn’t mean to stop training, it just means reducing one of the variables taken into account when training. Usually you reduce the intensity but keep the same volume
My exposure to the term is through powerlifting, and in that sense most popular programs will recommend doing pretty much the same workout as previous weeks but at 40-60% load. The goal is to really give your recovery systems a rest, but keep doing the same movements for practice sake/your sanity.
Camilo Pedrero you usually drop the volume a tad bit but you kill the intensity. The point is to reduce the stress on your nervous system in preparation for a big lift.
So it'd still be a deload week if your rep range and weight is the same but you increase rest time?? Or does it have to be lower weight in order to qualify as "reduced intensity" ?
Started watching when you were just an "average guy". Then he just starts with a baseline +70 pound pullup and casually throws in "Obviously I climb and do muscle ups so why would I need to click on pullup tutorials". Strong AF
@Bruh Man Exactly. Looking strong and being strong are two things that can correlate but especially for beginners don't. You can train low intensity for quite a while (which he did) without making much viable progress but one will get "stronger" physically via muscle memory. It should be noted that if you take a skinny guy that works out regular he basically is mostly muscle and therefore his base strength compared to someone that is skinny visually too but doesn't workout is extremely diffrent. I remember when I started to workout, for a while I looked the same but my strength went up and up and up and even today I don't judge someone's physical abilities on looks because as someone who took bodybuilding as a private hobby a bit too far I know that looking "strong" or bulky and actually being able to lift a lot of weight aso. is just something that is very difficult to judge. Visually, you can't tell if someone for example deadlifts say a medium 200 pounds or a lot lower/perhaps more because at such early stages of lifting your physique doesn't show your strength in the same way. You look stronger but in a relaxed state, you won't notice that difference. Under pressure though, you can obviously roughly tell how much weight someone can handle but it's still complicated. For example, if someone never did cardio but does leg exercises regularly - I am pretty sure noone can tell how often they can do a repetition because stamina usually isn't visible (again talking about beginners, people who train for like a year or less)
@dan alrido I weighed in at 94kg lean going on 100kg and perhaps a little more during my current bulk and am 183 cm, so let me assure you I know what you are talking about. I started doing weighted pull ups and chin ups early on because I enjoy the movment and always try to integrate it in my workout so over time I got pretty good, like you said it's not a movment you just do like a curl but it's not difficult when you know what you are doing and progression is easy - what I was trying to say was that looks don't say a lot about someone's strength when they are a total beginner like him. This guy is by no means strong but he has ok grip strength and a normal foundation to work with and did a decent progressive overload for minimal research and knowledge. Like you said, bodyweight gets a lot more difficult when you become heavier and I remember back in school our class had a shared bodyweight workout and the normally skinny guys performed really well while friends who were already at a 160 kg deadlift at 17 struggled to perform the reps. That's the nice thing about BWE - you can get away with a much simpler progressive overload for a while because you literally make it harder by performing it and putting on weight. Take a classic curl on the other hand - you can weigh 200 kg and the movementis basically as difficult on its own as for a guy at I dunno, 50 kg. And I mean, any movment you do for the first time is difficult. There was a kid who put on some mass this winter who tried to do weighted squats but had never done the movment before and he really struggled. A good pull up is a also just a lot of stuff you can do wrong without knowing it. I don't really train strength when I don't need it so I honestly still have no idea how one would measure back strength, though my one rep deadlift is at 175ish -'dunno what that tells but my working load is merely at 140 for a 4×6-8, I don't want a back injury :P
@Bruh Man Yeah, I got big over the last two years after one year of failure and the funny thing is, if you kinda ignore strength, you can still put on muscle. I only started to do cardio in the second year and the thing is, while I obviously improves my looks, the strength gain is really not much compared to a friend of mine who is focusing on his strength entirely.
Think of all the times when you'll be in a partially collapsed building, and holding onto the edge of a broken floor. Below you, you're clutching the hand of your beloved wife as fires rage below. Bro, your videos have helped me so much, especially with my slow muscle up and ring muscle up. Thank you so much, you really helped me with finding out where I was going wrong and with my technique. .
hey geek climber, first off amazing gains, but I'm actually very curious about the effects these 57 days had towards your climbing? I've had many debates about the importance of pulling strength with friends, I'd love to hear how this changed your climbing game (if it did). Thanks, love the content!
I think having good pulling strength definitely helps in climbing without a doubt, but if your finger strength is not on par with it then it's useless. Since I've been climbing for a way longer time than training pulling strength, for me personally my finger strength has always been ahead of my pulling strength, so I do feel a huge difference in climbing since my pulling strength is starting to catch up to my finger strength because of all these calisthenics training.
@@GeekClimber As a non-climber I have the opposite problem; can pull-up 50% my body-weight but can't even campus an easy route because my fingers/grip strength is like jelly 😂
@Señor Dinosaurio for beginners it's just increasing your climbing volume. Work up to 2-3x a week climbing, ensure that you have sufficient rest to recover. When you start climbing the 1st plateau is around v3-4 where climbing holds start becoming much smaller and you need stronger fingers. After that campusing, using a hangboard will contribute to further progression. Progress is extremely slow as fingers are mainly strengthened via tendons and not muscles, and injuries are very common if you push too hard too fast. All the best!
It's wild seeing how much I take for granted coming from a strength training background. Even with access to some of the good information he still started on the wrong path initially. It's much easier to program these things when you have a more holistic understanding of sports science. I hope the reading you did on this will make the journey to a one arm easier!
This guy is funny 😂 6:25 “DEWD!” Goteeeeeem.. & it doesn’t matter whether your chin passed the bar OR not, because obviously you were much stronger than you were 2 months ago. You can definitely do a muscle up with your wife on your back in another 3 months!

@@simolajustice6555 I'm 15 and 178cm and somewhere 54kg and I can do over 10 pull ups. I'm very underweight and I still win my "buff" friends in a wrestling, I mean like not always take them down but I mean gimme a circle and I can push them out of it xD
@@rudy1999 short isnt much of an excuse
Bro, your videos have helped me so much, especially with my slow muscle up and ring muscle up. Thank you so much, you really helped me with finding out where I was going wrong and with my technique. .
very motivational! i'm on my journey to do just 10 pullups just as a baseline. i have a long way to go, but thanks for the motivation!
Day 57 : *Pulls up his wife*
Me : Doesn't count he didn't follow the proper steps of yelling "Pull up my wife".
hey geek climber, first off amazing gains, but I'm actually very curious about the effects these 57 days had towards your climbing?
Every time I do a pull-up I think about him saying "PULL UP MY WIFE!"
Dear UA-cam
I know I’m fat and single but you need to stop recommending me these types of videos like damn you need to stop doing this to me
HaHa
1:44 are we just going to ignore that the guy on the right has a skeleton hand doing an ok sign
Kendall Kleen lol
Or ignore his PERFECT buttocks
Hey man, I'm Brazilian, I'm starting with calisthenics ... and your videos inspire me a lot.
you are cool and funny.
While here's a guy who can't even pull himself up.
Start off with negatives
Are you me lol
He already pulled himself up so shut up and stop being a hater
Buy a door frame pull up bar and resistant bands and ween your way off the bands and do negatives as well
@@Piyushrahi please tell me your joking
Him trying to pull up his wife is about the same as me trying to do a single unweighted pull up. Can do chin ups. But pull ups, no siree.
Heyyy we both same
You'll get there, don't worry. Took nearly 3 months to my first
Whoever this guy is who imitated a California accent and aspires to do pullups+, he made my day. Subscribed.
Fart: im about to end this man's married life.
That's the only comment that made me laugh 😳
I feel so much respect for this guy just because he’s married, while others are not 💪🏽
He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will
Instructions unclear. Wife can now lift me after training for 11 days.

Zvmbie stolen commenr
Zvmbie imagine stealing a comment for virtual likes to boost your ego and make you feel good 🤦🏾♂️ could never be me
this was so awesome to watch. And I TOTALLY appreciate the systematic math approach as well. This is something I need to try.
It's wild seeing how much I take for granted coming from a strength training background. Even with access to some of the good information he still started on the wrong path initially. It's much easier to program these things when you have a more holistic understanding of sports science. I hope the reading you did on this will make the journey to a one arm easier!
*"I'll lift you up in sickness and in health..."*
Do you think this is what he expected?
10/10. Great video. Love the humor and the information!
Someone in reality: GONNA DO IT FOR MY WIF- *fells right front of a big rock*

This video probably one of the best pull up videos so far I have seen.

This guy is funny 😂 6:25 “DEWD!” Goteeeeeem.. & it doesn’t matter whether your chin passed the bar OR not, because obviously you were much stronger than you were 2 months ago. You can definitely do a muscle up with your wife on your back in another 3 months!
On 6:34, I noticed his left shoulder is higher than his right. Just pointing it out because I'm worried tbh.
That guy at 1:46 got everyone good wit his leg tat
This is eyes opening. Never know such skinny has SO MUCH STRENGTH AND POTENTIAL 🙏🙏
2:29 I recognize those blue shorts!

This dude gives me Mike Boyd vibes. Love it. All the more power to ya boss 💪🏽
After finding out that i could do the pull up with 75 lbs attached on me, i trained and was able to pull up my wife.
After divorcing and marrying my 7 year old cousin.
