Claudio... After a Bontempi and a Farfisa Matador, Korg MS20 was my first serious instrument in 1978. I was 14 years old. Now I am 59, it is still on my desk and present in my tracks. For me it's synth number one. Forever!
There is so much mad good stuff in the Mr Oizo catalogue, Analog Worms Attack, Positif, MSeq.. And the All Wet album is banging. The Artwork and videos etc are super creative. Mr Oizo is so much more than Flat Beat but its a legend in itself. Love you Dr Mix!
I always tought that Mr. Oizo is one of the most iconic house track ever produceed. So happy that you brought this out with the amazing Korg MS.20 concept.
The owners of this synthesizer know how to get all the close sounds of a PS3300 with an MS-20. The Korg plugin version is 8-voice polyphonic and that's when I discovered that with this thing I could get sounds from polysix monopoly and PS-3100 and PS-3300. The art of sampling is not only for sampling vinyl and noises, but also for experimenting with the prerecorded sound of a synthesizer like this one. I discovered over the years that this synthesizer makes simple sounds to play in polyphony, really warm pads and horns, very interesting flutes and really strange complicated sounds for percussion. It is perfect for electro funk, reggae, hip-hop, house, techno, d&b, uk garage, 2 step, break beat... I experiment a lot with this thing, sampling with Logic Pro and the truth is that I am very surprised at how much I use this machine. Logic's chord memory is crazy simple, from an MS-20 lead I get a deep house style pad from the 90s... I recommend this machine to design and experiment, it hides an exciting world from a simple and basic perspective. Thanks for the video, greetings.
Man I love when people gives attention to someone else than justice or Daft punk in the world of house Mr oizo is an incredible musician and SECAM is an amazing song one of the best of the genre Love to see this
This song is just so much fun, timeless classic, like the Korg as well! Also, I think we all can agree that the studio needs a Flat Eric plushie somewhere!👀😂
Oh man, now I love you even more! Such an iconic instrument. It was such a pivotal moment for me when I first heard that track. The whole album, Analog Worms Attack, is a hugely underrated album in my opinion. Thanks a lot for another great video!
My MS20 has followed me since 1978! Now it has Kenton pro solo interface to drive it with MIDI keyboard and that's running very well (76 or 88 keys midi keyboard is recommended to calibrate Kenton pro solo as well).
My cat watched your efforts in this video with great interest. The only one with greater interest was I, myself so I can hear the flat beat. And I did, with my cat. Thank you!
That reminds me I was almost going to pickup a Korg afew years ago at a local store but the guy would give no discount so I backed out. It retailed at 900 dollars.. it got good reviews.
I didn’t realize I was supposed to be headbanging that much when using my MS-20. I will now modify my playing style accordingly. And visit my chiropractor every week.
Claudio, greetings from a big Doctor Mix fan & buyer of your Music Producer’s Gold Guide. Thank you for all the videos you’ve made over the years and for sharing your gifts - your channel means the world to everyone who’s watching. Also, 3:12 - if you want a Korg PS-series synthesizer without breaking the bank, Cherry Audio have just put out a hugely acclaimed emulation of the mythical & ultra-rare PS-3300. Would love to see you demonstrate it to us if you could. 🙂
Awesome clip, doctor 😎🎹 I’m a huge Korg fan and this synth sounds killer. I also like the Korg volca fm. Definitely one of the best synthesizers I’ve ever own.
I use the the optical sound output on my pc connected to a NAD amp, which outputs to a subwoofer and 2 shelf sized KEF speakers. Your jams are sounding so good!
Bam Bam would come into my mate's studio, record on tape freestyle 303 patterns, and then cut and chop the best bits. The studio would have tape everywhere.
classic video and song . . hey have you guys ever done a gabber synth recreation? you could do the crazy dance in the studio too just dont knock anything over lol.
@@synthetic24No it’s a MS20 and a 303. For the first riff you need a resonant HPF, which the Juno doesn’t have, nor can be it modulated via CV. Daft Punk did use a Juno on Homework, just not on Da Funk. The MS20 is all over 90’s French House.
@@3rdStoreyChemist Not correct again. Daft Punk did not use an Korg MS-20 on the album Homework. And the riff of Da Funk is definitely a Roland Juno 106.
@@synthetic24 That's based on their live setup and an article a couple of years afterwards. Unless you were in the studio, you can't categorically state it wasn't used. Especially when a lot of gear lists back then were intentionally wrong or incomplete. KORG, yes, but I remain nostalgic for the sounds of Mini Moog :-) Bravo for this very good video, I admire your passion for electronic instruments. Ninno nioo! lol. L O V
Dear Claudio and Louie, how about an analysis of YellO? This fabulous group (duo) is for me the next step after Kraftwerk. These Germans were theorists and cold groovy... These Swiss are just crazy and ultra groovy. Both used very dense synth sounds and dynamic beats, I think, with a very far imagination.... Among my favorite albums, Claro que si (82), you gotta say yes... (83) and the mixes (85)
You know the Alex Ball Synth Tutorial, I believe, where in the comments Mr. Oizo himself confirms what he did: "I sampled small bits (akai S1000) and recreated the groove on my sequencer (back in the says it was demo version of cakewalk express!!) !" 😀

Nothing beats Claudio and his love to synths!
Exactly! ❤️
Big smiles from 1999 😁, but please Dr.Mix can you give that MS20 more love.
Every time you dropped it my nerves jumped 😂.
And the poor Rhodes below it!!!! haha I was on the edge of my seat
@@keyboard_customsThat was my bigger concern, also! 😅

Please be more gentle with the MS 20.
Nah.
Your passion for music, synths, and life is incredible. You’re an inspiration doctor.

Flat Beat brings out the same head movement for everyone....theres no escape.
I've bought a Korg MS-20 mini for €250 last year. It's AWESOME!! :D
Génial ! Une maîtrise du matériel … un régal vos vidéos Doctor mix 😉
Last week I showed my son a clip about how we hung out in the 90s. And now I saw your video, I’m just delighted, you’re cool, great!

Sensational! I subscribed on the basis of the sounds you got outa that thing!
As a kid I used to wait for the flat beat video on MTV.
Now, as a 30+ year old, I also love the music.
As a Kid, I mostly liked the Flat Eric puppet 😅
I've had this for one year when I was 17... Now I'm 54 and I still dream of it's knobs and patches sometimes!
Top work guys 🫡

I have the iMS-20 app on my iPad for years and love playing with it!
This video made me so happy, also solid recreation!!
EPIC! SO glad I had my big surround sound speakers and sub turned on for that 😁😁😁👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
What an enjoyable presentation of an awesome synth (& plugin) ! :))
This is think is my favourite monophonic synth

Shared joy of music discovery and play. Thank you.

You guys are nuts on the synthesizer!
So cool. Man this takes me back. One of the first songs I got off Napster
Claudio - the music world equivalent of Gino D’Acampo. If I don’t watch anything else, this will be enough to make me smile all day.
I'd love to have an engineer to work with that is that awesome. My engineering partner died and impossible to replace 😊. The groove is awesome guys.
Ok....lmao.
I truly appreciate your enthusiasm and background in everything music.
You funny.
i own a ms 20 and afew others but this patch fun cheers big ears!

I want to love someone like Claudio does with synths. But I have that same love and enthusiasm with my dogs and my guitar
so creative and so funnnny
My first synth, bought in -83... :)

The French Touch is here 🙃🙃🙃

The pure nonchalance of Mr Oizo,
So cool to describe Flat Eric's beat - But where is your plush costume?
Bam Bam would come into my mate's studio, record on tape freestyle 303 patterns, and then cut and chop the best bits. The studio would have tape everywhere.
Claudio, please be carefull with that MS20, I was shaking while watching how you are picking it in your hands and putting it down :D :D
It's a tough guy, it can take a beating ;) Don't worry 😁
Nice men! I will try that with my MS20 too
Great song to cover!
In an interview for Future Music mag. Mr Oizo sampled individual ms20 phrases into his Akai S1000 sampler.
I like korg MS series. MS10, MS20, MS50, SQ10 & VC10.
Fantastic video
In 1991 I bought one of these from a guy from college who's gran had one in loft .....paid a grand total of £30 !
