- A nerve-jangling battle for survival in Tampere went to Austria. Great Britain led 2-0 and 3-1 in a game that it had to win in regulation, but the Austrians rallied to win it 5-3 and secure their place at this level for another season.

It was quite entertaining to see GB in the top division but the better team won here. Austria was playing well this tournament for sure.

Second game in a row Great Britain scored a goal with the skate... Since when do we have UEFA referees in Ice hockey?
As long as it's not a kicking motion your allowed to redirect the puck with the skate:).

Been rooting for and following the Brits closely ever since 2019 so this is a bit of a downer for me. Then again I also rooted for Austria to stay instead of Italy in 2019
Both teams showed plenty of heart this year but Austria are just a bit better. Also so many injuries for Brits didnt help. Come back again!
Yeah, with Betteridge and Kirk out it's not made it easy. Hopefully we'll be back in the near future
This was a good game. Very sad to see GB go down to Div 1A. Please don't give up my fellow Brits, you should be proud for what you guys have achieved in the last 5 years. Double promotion, survived relegation in the first attempt, then you had a good tournament last year with Liam Kirk. This season was unfortunate, you did a good comeback against Norway, and you were close both against Latvia and Austria. I really hope you guys get the opportunity to return. Best of luck in the future GB.
I can’t find a team in the group that’s been worse so I understand but I’ll be gutted not watching GB next year :(
My partner is Czech so I’ve still got a team to support but it’s always nice having your country in the tournament.
The Austrians looked paralyzed in the second period and GB quite frankly should have barried the game with their 4 breakaway chances you squander chances like that it will come back to bite you and it did in the third once Austria 🇦🇹 got their first goal and started playing physical Austria were clearly the better team and they have been through out the tournament a team who ties with the US and wins over czhezia shouldn't be relegated but it was very close for that to happen in the second ggs to Austria for fighting back and staying up:).

Wanted GB to win, but they fell apart in the 3rd period. Totally blew that power play and got sloppy on defence.
It would have been nice if they stayed up 1 more year so they got the record (longest they had been in championship dev since ww2), but they didn't close the game. That simple.

This! It worked against Latvia and now against Austria.
Refs tried to screw Austria more than once. But this time to no avail. ^^
Read up on the rules as long as the player trying to score doesn't kick the puck and only tries to redirect the puck its a good goal so GBs goals vs Austria and Latvia were all good goals because there was no kicking motion:).

But in both cases a distinct kicking motion. In the game against Austria he extended his leg towards the goal.
But stick to soccer or whatever sport and leave the big boys the talk.

If GB had decent goalie they would have won. But he was complete hole in the net.
Austria showed willingness and ability to fight and stay in Top Division. If Austria won against USA they would probably go to semifinals. USA winning over Norway would cause Austria and USA being with same number of points, but Austria would be winner in USA-Austria game so they would continue probably.

@@jackblaze2015 Sorry, I forgot in hockey you can hit the puck with your foot like in football.. In both goals you can clearly see they wanted to score those goals with their skate..
@@deiniels5549 but you can use the skate, goals are scored like that every week in the NHL. It can't be a clear kicking motion, redirects are perfectly legal

2nd team GB goal was a bit of a joke, there was a clear motion with the skate, since when those sort of goals are allowed ? Not the first one socred that way in this tournament.
Since always..? Rules clearly state goals off the skate are allowed as long as it isn't a clear kicking motion

I feel bad for Britain. They were better than Austria. Austria should be the country demoted, not Britain.
I mean, the Brits didn’t win when they needed to, so that’s just how it goes
Austria 2:1 SO Czechia, GB 1:5 Czechia
This was the only game Austria didn't play good. Still they won. It was reversed against Latvia, Austria was way better and still lost in shootout... Overall in this Tournament Austria was the better team and deserved to stay in the top Division.
