Even the translation is 10x better, the dialogue sounds much more natural. Animax: Heck. So that's the way it is. She just suddenly had a change of heart. Viz: Damn! Stupid Kagome changing her stupid attitude all of a sudden! So comparison! xD
Richard Ian Cox will only ever be my InuYasha! Hearing someone else's voice exit that anime mouth gives me goosebumps of wrongness.....overall best anime ever! I don't think I will ever get into another anime like this one ever again! Been a decade of constant love for this fandom and I don't see it going anywhere!.

Even though I hope to see ranma 1/2 in the future (because of Richard Ian cox) and naruto (because I still haven't seen it yet even though my mum ordered the dvd years ago) and maybe fullmetal alchemist I will always go back to inuyasha. It is my all time favourite anime in the entire world!
Oh my gosh, the Viz Dub is SO much better imo. All of the characters just feel right, and I think Kira did an AMAZING job as Kagome. Yes, she sounds different, but the rhythm and essence is very similar to Monica. I used to be a "watch anime with subs ONLY" purist, but Inuyasha is the one huge exception to this rule. The English dub is absolutely unparalleled, and I have watched the entire series and the movies multiple times with both Japanes and English dubs. English hands down. Still loving Inuyasha and rewatching to this day, despite being nearly 30. Here's to never fully growing up, woooo :D Edit: Special shoutout to the Viz version of Grandpa Higurashi. It's difficult to not just do the common "old man" voice, but Inuyasha nailed it with both Grandpa Higurashi and Totosai, as well as my absolute favourite: MYOGA MY HOMIE. They're all completely unique and hilarious in their line delivery!

It takes huge talent to nail comedy, and Jaken's voice actor had it. Speaking of talent: The English VA for Jaken was ALSO the English VA for Touga/Inu no Taisho. I legit couldn't believe it, but it's true xD!!!
I really hated that Monica didn't come back to voice Kagome for the last season (and Sesshomaru too, right?). I just can't watch it in English because that isn't Kagome's voice!! At least the Japanese dub wasn't changed.

Coming from my perspective Viz Media will always be the better dub. Why? Because I watched the original Inuyasha mid season, and a year later the animax dub for final act came out. I was one in that crowd of people a few years ago, on a hype for the new Inuyasha dub. The old one to me was perfect, the first season of Inuyasha has one of the few English dubs for anime that I just love. The voice actors were brilliant and showed so much hyperness and energy, it captured the characters personalities perfectly way better than any other dub and admittedly, the original Japanese sub, and I don't give that credit to many anime dubs often, if any. When the animax dub came out when I was thirteen years old and fully used to the viz media dub, you can imagine my horror when I found none of the voice actors sounded the same. I had little concept if voice acting companies at the time and it threw me off the final act anime completely. I decided to just stick to the manga and it made me feel so miserable to hear the voice changes of a dub that in my general opinion was perfect. At the time, we had been told viz media refused to do another Inuyasha dub so there was little hope for the people who hated the animax dub (which trust me, at the time, nearly everyone did) I was overjoyed to hear two years later, Viz media agreed to get the voice acting for Inuyasha done. Though voice actors had to be changed, Viz media found almost identical voice actors to replace them and it was so much easier to adjust to the newer voices. I enjoyed the final act anime for what it was then. Not to say that I wouldn't of just given the japanese sub a watch if worse came to worse, I like the voice acting in the sub, its pretty good, but overall I just love the viz media dub. Nothing could top season one of the viz media dub and those who grew up watching the anime as a dub, as I did would understand. It mainly takes me back to a difficult time in my life and I watched the anime in that dub to help me through it. One of the nicest summers I ever had. Its a very biased viewpoint, granted, I know a few people prefer the animax version as the voices are toned down. But toned down voices would never suit Inuyasha as it is a very eccentric anime. Anime is all about the far fetched and exciting and it is only recently (after the 2012 anime period began) when animes began to tone down. From 2000 to 2011, animes were very hyped and had all sorts of references that would seem weird to those of the newer anime generation. I cut in the middle myself. Wow, Animax has a really awkward voice for InuYasha, especially being used to the ViZ one. I actually really liked the new voice ViZ gave Kagome, it actually kind of sounds like her Japanese actress in my opinion. Or atleast the voice I heard in the sub of The Final Act.

OK so here's my opinion, after watching an entire series with Richard (Inuyasha's va) his voice just makes me smile. But I feel like some of the things that Inuyasha said in the animax version were nicer than in viz media. Don't get me wrong Viz media is my pick but Inuyasha's character and lines are just... NICER. I don't know how to put it. All I know is that Inuyasha's character is so cute like a kitty, and Kagome's voice is high.
Personally, after watching the whole series with the original Japanese dub, I prefer the Animax dub in terms of the quality or timbre of Inuyasha's voice -- a bit more boyish and younger -- just like how it is in the original, japanese version.
As a huge One Piece fan, I can't stand Inuyasha's Japanese voice, no matter how good it is. Usopp is burned into my brain in the best way possible, and hearing the same voice out of Inuyasha is too odd. I could never get over that xD!
I personally didn't care much for the Animax dub, but then again I'm use to the Viz dub with Monica Stori as Kagome, Richard cox as Inuyasha, and French Tickner as Kagome's Grandpa. But I thought the Viz dub was still fairly decent though
VIZ! I got used to hearing to Richard Cox's voice acting Inuyasha and probabaly because his voice suited he's character more ^-^! The Animax version was... umm... I don't know.... His voice wasn't bad, but... it just didn't suit Inuyasha's character... I have no problem with Kagome's though ^-^'

Aside of the obvious audio quality issue. I would say that the Animax is serviceable or at least listenable (almost all dubs are). It's kind of like the later 90's dubs. Still, the Ocean dub is far superior. Inuyasha sounds way better in the Ocean dub to me but I kinda like Kagome's "pitch" in the Animax dub. Both are good, but it's pretty obvious which is better of the two.
Wow, I prefer the Viz dub so much. No offense to the Animax VAs as I'm sure they're talented people, but Inuyasha's VA just seemed pretty stiff and a bit awkward. And, y'know, Richard Ian Cox as Inuyasha is just magic.

The first one's acting was terrible. Like, Inuyasha, kept, talking, like, this. They were all like that to a degree. No doubt, the second was better.
