Wolverine Historian, thanks for posting this. It is good to see the old running QB again. Rick Leach, John Wangler, Steve Smith, Jim Harbaugh, and Michael Taylor.
Yep. First ever time we played at the Metrodome.
It is. Steve Smith's 75 yard TD run here is the longest ever TD run by a Michigan QB.
Scott Dreisbach had a 72 yard TD run against Illinois in 1996.
Was this the first time we played in the dome, always hated that building, especially for baseball cause of the roof.
another great find were do you get this
Steve Smith would have been dynamite in RR's offense. For all the great QBs Bo had, Harbaugh was the first one of note to really have some semblance of an NFL career.
Mike Reinhold suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in that building. He didn't return until the 1985 season, and his career should have been over.
That cursed stadium also claimed Tony Boles in 1989. Had he been healthy for the Rose Bowl (Bo's last one), no question Michigan would have won. Well, they would have won without him save for a phantom holding penalty on a fake punt late in the 4th quarter, but who's keeping track?
First off great video and awesome game. Second, I am so sick of people telling me this style of offense (rich rodriguez"s) is not for Michigan. Even in the 80's they were running an option-run qb who can throw. I hope Rich can turn it around and throw it people's faces when Michigan starts winning again. But, if I am wrong I'll be the first to admit it
Holy 14-year-old kicker, Batman
Does anybody notice that Minnesota seems to be blitzing on every play? I learned they had no choice because they couldn't stop anybody that year without blitzing. Still, Michigan had more class than Nebraska who kept pummeling the helpless Gophers in 1983.
This by far was the WORST Minnesota football team ever but on the field. 1-and-10 including the humiliating 84-13 loss to Nebraska in week 2.
