Wow… it feels like the show has taken everything from me near the end. We started off so majestically, optimistic, only to be shipped away bit by bit through 8volumes.
I don’t even know if Chibi could heal THIS type of pain.

I've seen someone else comment this on someone else's reaction of the finale, but it was said that Joan of Arc swore not to use her sword to shed innocent blood. When Jaune killed Penny, notice how his sword broke off right where innocent blood covered it.

So about the whole Penny thing.
When Ambrosius used Penny's existing robotic parts and made a new version (with the virus), Penny's soul (including her aura) was left without a body. Because Abrosius cannot destroy, he had to make her soul a body of its own. The Maiden powers remained with her.
When Ambrosius created the pathway to Vacuo, the robotic body vanished, as that is what he had created before, whereas human Penny remained alive and intact, as he did not create her.
To add some more details: team RWBY ask Ambrosisus to make a copy of Penny used the existing robotic parts but didn't ask him to make Penny a human body. That part he's bound to make due to the rule so the human body didn't get destroyed when he make something else.
Maiden's power bound to people's soul/aura which had been explained in vol.3
The worst part is that Penny died thinking that her closest friends were dead. Maybe even felt like she had failed them like she blamed herself for failing Mantle.
It kills me that Penny had offered/intended to pass the powers to Ruby earlier in the volume, but when her time comes, all of her Beacon friends are gone except Jaune and Weiss. And even if we'd seen more closeness between Penny and Weiss, it's not quite the same as the years Penny has known Winter as a leader, teacher, and comrade-in-arms, probably since the day she was "born"!
And Penny knows Winter has trained for years as an autonomous fighter (and one who knew the flexibility of maiden powers was coming to her someday), while Weiss has been focusing on mastery of her glyphs and summons as a support for others. Equally important roles, but one more suited than the other for the Maiden's burden.

One of my absolute favorite details is that there was a superstition that if a knight's sword was ever stained with innocent blood, it would break, and immediately after killing penny, his sword shatters. And if you look even closer , the bloodied part of the blade is what broke off. (The superstition might not be entirely accurate as written, I'm doing it from memory. What I do know for a fact was that bad things were supposed to happen if innocent blood stained a knight's sword)
I love this. And even more so, it’s like Ruby said in volume 1: the weapons are a part of their souls, an extension of themselves. And I think Jaune’s soul is just about shattered, right now.
It makes even more sense, now that the theory that in the Volume 9 trailer the knight may be Jaune. Just a theory though

I've watched a ton of RWBY reactors over the years but your reactions have provided some of the best entertainment during an otherwise difficult time in my life. I seriously can't wait to watch Volume 9 along with you. Get some rest if you can and heal. 2023 is so very very close.

@@BuzryHaproMandalorianHunter I actually like Ghost's over MOBs. I don't know I feel like MOB purposely over reacts. But with Ghost his reactions feel real, like actually genuine. Over the years it personal feels like MOB reacts the way he does just for show because again that's what got him his views/subs and that's what he's basically known for and I think he knows that so he purposely over does it. There were so many times he over reacted that it wasn't even necessary/needed for him to react the way he did. I stopped watching MOB because his reactions just don't feel real to me anymore like they did before he got "big".
That's just my opinion though.
@@xPikaPowerx don't wanna start any arguments, but i do genuinely recommend you watch more of MOB. What you see isn't a overreaction. He honestly cares about rwby and he's actually extremely serious about delivering genuine content. Views/subs are the least of his concern and doesn't play up reactions for that exact reason, he's just a guy doing stuff that he loves. Once again, not trying to have an argument but thinking he's purposefully acting a certain way is just a huge misunderstanding that is easily cleared up if you want him more regularly. He wears his heart on his sleeve and enjoys doing so.

I love how Qrow has no dialogue in the last scene but just from his expression and mouth movements you can see him panicking, calling for "Ruby..Yan.." before he sees the rubble flooded. He is convinced they are dead

This really was Cinder's Volume, more than anyone else's. She got the very first word of the Volume ("There.") and the final word of the Volume ("Checkmate."), and her backstory combined with Watts unwittingly shaking Cinder out of her recklessness since her injury in Volume 3 has enabled Cinder to grow and better herself as a villain, enabling her to concoct a plan that allowed her to win it all.
Once more, she manipulated and outsmarted pretty much everyone, just like she did in the first 3 Volumes, only this time that list includes Salem, Watts and Neo. It all started when she placed the Black Queen piece on Ironwood's desk in the last Volume in order to set him off, and at the moment she announced checkmate here at the end, Ironwood finally gave up, knowing that Cinder had beaten him -- until that moment, Ironwood didn't even know that Cinder was really the one he was fighting against in this game.
Now having eliminated many of her enemies as well as her rivals, and restored her status as Salem's favourite, Cinder is in a better position than ever before to obtain the power that she desires.
Personally, I don't think Salem cares if Cinder is lying to her. She now has 2 of the 4 relics. Whether she knows or not IDK, I like to pretend Salem can tell and just doesn't care. She got what she wanted, the Staff of Creation.
I’m almost certain that Salem knows that Cinder is lying… But she is getting what she wants and losing nothing of value to her, so why should she care? Cinder might betray her, but it’d likely be annoying at worst… She can’t kill her, she likely couldn’t trap her for long and couldn’t hide from her… What has she got to really worry about?

But she has exactly what she wants, and any lie Cinder could conjure is small potatoes compared to having half the relics. This show has been in my life since its beginning in 2013 and has left quite the d̶e̶p̶r̶e̶s̶s̶i̶o̶n̶ impression on me since. Its the reason I've started learning and studying 3D animation this year with plans to go to college for it and make a career out of it. It's the reason I have such a big interest in writing. It introduced me to Monty Oum's work and has been my hero ever since as well as the man who continues to inspire me even nearly a decade later.
I truly think RWBY is a one of a kind show. Nothing has ever had me so invested, immersed, and excited each and every week. Searching for people's reactions mere minutes after finishing the episode to see how they reacted to the episode, the huge community of artists, content creators, and just seeing how many people this show brings together is truly something else.
I love this show.
I wish you the best on your journey to becoming a 3D animator. One day we all maybe watching something you created. 👍🥂
@Bamma -- have you watched the RWBY reactions of @PunsofDamage ? They're a hardcore fan, awesome cosplayer, and very emotional about the characters, and had the same reaction you did. We watch them start doing reactions at their high school home, move to college for animation, get excited about classes/complain about homework, return home for the pandemic, and finally... get hired by Rooster Teeth to work on Volume 9!

30 Minutes later....
Remember how Penny died in Vol 3. Just used to further Cinder's schemes. Used as a tool with no choice or agency of her own. She died like the robot that she was.
Compare to now. Throughout all of Atlas she's never been able to assert her agency, because it's always been denied to her. Even by her loved ones like her father. Even the Maiden powers were something that was essentially forced on her because the situation necessitated that she take them ("I was the protector of Mantle...but now, I am so much more than that. And I wish I was not"). She doesn't want this role.
But now, with this one choice, she's died like a human. She's denied Cinder what she wants, saved several of her friends in the process. If it was up to Jaune, they all probably would've died. But because her personhood was respected, they were able to avoid the worst case scenario. And being able to make a choice is the biggest signifier of what makes one human, as humanity was created with that in mind. So I think Penny truly died like a human here, and it ironically had nothing to do with the fact that she was now technically human. Her end here is much more dignified and respectful of her than V3 was.
Obviously this isnt any kind endorsement of murder-suicide, the situation was still horrible and should have never come to pass to begin with, but Penny managed to make the most of an awful situation. She went out content, even if she shouldn't have went out at all.
Penny was begging to die almost the whole Volume, seeing no value in her own life, imo she deserved better.
It's an incredibly nuanced conversation and there are no easy answers to give for hard questions, but ultimately I do believe a person should have an ultimate right to choose their fate and how they want to die. Especially if someone is truly suffering I don't think anyone has a right to make them live that kind of life if there is no help to be had. There was no saving Penny at that point, she was dying, letting it be quick and on her own terms to me feels like a bitter mercy

I don't wanna spoil anything, but I also wanna bring up the story Oscar told Ozpin when they were being tortured, and then Ozpin tells the group the same story at the end of last weeks episode. In my personal opinion, "the girl who fell through the world" is in incredibly valuable and explains a lot of what may happen for next season, and what they may have to overcome.

Ghoooooost, I’m so sorry!! When Penny gives the power to Winter, it never fails to make me tear up. I was so broken when that scene first hit. If you’re up for it, the V9 trailers are out, so they’re worth looking into.
Also, note the opening theme song, and how it says “some lives will end much too soon.” Penny had only barely begun to truly live her life, yet it was ended way too soon, for sure. At the very, very least, she was able to choose and be allowed to have her decision respected. She’s had to fight for every idea she’s ever had. She was a true hero,

- Winter's flash-step (I don't know if it has an actual name, so going with this stand-in name), while no clue if its a skill or glyph or whatever, but definitely imo would give Monty a smile cause he was very much "rule of cool" and that attack is legit that xD
- It's a minuscule, means nothing thing; but the way Winter smirks at seeing Robyn (and Qrow but meh) feeds my SchneewoodForest (Winter/Robyn) shipping self (I mean I ship Robyn with so many people but fans have legit pushed SF to top) xD
- Love Ambrosius xD
- I love the idea that is being fully realized in that a person's soul is who they are, not the shell they inhabit. Works in both fiction and in the real world, regardless of the disgusting types that shout otherwise; because of neanderthal backwards views.
- Going from the above, also love MC's playing on a loophole; rather than trying to do x,y, z alt.
- I can't state enough how much I LOVE the "magical" score for when Penny is being given a flesh body, it just hits that old school cartoon section of my brain.
- On the Maiden Power part, they're tied to the soul of the person; so transferred to the flesh body as it's a manifestation of her soul itself.
- The Ever-After always looks astonishing when seeing it, CRWBY did a great job in it's design and creation.
- Like the comm room massacre is brutal, but the score for it is so good.
- Personally IW blasting Jac-ass is the one good thing he's done; though I get being more restrained on the concept as well. Especially since the logic for not killing him is one I apply to many other categories of people that show willingness to change if given the opportunity.
- Blake going feral over Yang's falling is so bittersweet, cause girlfriends but also falling into void
- "I have never waivered in fighting the enemies of this kingdom... and I won't start now." this line, like THIS line is just GOD so good. Which is then followed by more: "No... you have sacrificed everyone else. You closed the borders. You squeezed Mantle til it broke." If anything I wish there was more of the IW vs. Winter fight.
- I know Vine might not be the most developed or explored character, but god if his sacrifice scene doesn't hurt.
- While I have complex feelings about Penny's death, after someone pointed out it being for the first time her choice (and a fair bit of cooling of my emotions); I've moved back to neutral on it.
- Winter's "maiden awakening" is so good in how it's done. From the meeting of souls to the score to how her aura manifests in Maiden state with the blue eye-flames and trail of snow. "You were my friend" not even going to try to deny that, that gets my eyes watery every damn time. And the way Elizabeth Maxwell does "You chose nothing." "This was a gift."; ugh both admiring the badass and once again watery eyes. Also there couldn't be a better a counter to Cinder as demonstrated in their brief clash, considering how Winter can do the bird swarm against Cinder's blade-storm and has glyphs to combat her glass-abilities.
- "You... are going to pay for everything you've done." again Elizabeth nailing the tone and sending chills for me xD Also her arrival to Vacuo, especially the score I can't speak praise enough for it.
- I love that Salem literally shows no care about IW as she walks on her way, showing that while he threw everything away in fear of her; she didn't even entertain a thought of him. He's not the "glorious hero" that he saw himself as.
- Someone mentioned that Atlas as a reference/allusion to Atlantis and ngl I can see it given how they framed it.
- Also while not a Chibi, there is a snippet/teaser/clip for v9 that might give some amount of happy vibes
I read somewhere that the flash step was Winter using lightening dust with her sword.

The thing i love about Ambrosious, The spirit in the staff, is how the creativity in what he creates is never up to his discretion, it always lies with the person who summons him, just shows how the god of light truly respected the creativity of mankind and his refusal to interferre and stifle it.

Thanks for the reactions, man, and legit - i hope y'all hold up good. Might just be a show, but when a show really gets under your skin, it can honestly feel _horrible_ seeing characters you loved just... poof, get the permanent short straw.
The last few episodes were so emotional they sort of wash out the rest of the season in your memory. And yes, that scream of agony, Jesus that boy is going to need counseling for YEARS. Remember, on top of doing it himself, that's the third woman in his life killed (or nearly, Weiss) due to Cinder.

Something I always find touching, as heart-breaking as it is, is the fact that you can see Jaune's aura helping with the transfer of magic between Penny and Winter.

The name the crew called our new Lamp Diety during production is Merlin Daddy. I mean, fitting. Ambrosius is fun though.

The way Penny’s VA imitates Emerald’s for a moment before the reveal is so good. There’s even a hint it’s Emerald because she says “I don’t” instead of “I do not.” Penny never uses contractions.

Episode 13: So before V8 started airing, Arryn Zech (Blake’s VA) made a comment about her throat being sore because she’d done a lot of screaming during one of her recording sessions. So, naturally (also helped by the fact that Arryn is like captain of the Bee ship), people were convinced something was going to happen to Yang, and we all were patiently waiting for The Scream(TM). And we finally got it in this episode. But at what cost?
Along the same lines, from the minute Ambrosius said “do not fall” most everyone was convinced Yang was going to be the one to fall.
And I can’t believe we got a “the five times Yang caught Gambol Shroud (Blake’s weapon), and the one time she didn’t” fic set up in the actually show like how dare! And Blake was straight up gonna jump in after her if Weiss hadn’t held her back! And then we get Feral Blake? This episode really just gave us all the angst!
I like that Robyn had no clue Vine was about to make an emotional breakthrough with Harriet so she just rams the ship. It’s like, I get it but girl we were so close! Lol
“I’ve never wavered in fighting the enemies of this Kingdom, and I won’t start now.” Winter going in with the badass lines. Love her so much.
The fact that Jinn looked so sad to “betray” our heroes just always gets me. Like, it’s her job but she genuinely didn’t want to help Cinder here. Sigh.
Episode 14: Buckle up because I have so much to say about this finale.
Penny’s death is hard. Like, every time I watch it and the aftermath I cry. And that’s before we even get into the incredible voice acting from Taylor McNee (Penny) and Elizabeth Maxwell (Winter). Really helps sell that moment, along with the music.
Speaking of Elizabeth, she really went all out this episode. “You are going to pay for everything you’ve done!” The way that sentence is practically growled out is just chef’s kiss
While I wasn’t necessarily attached to Vine, the fact that the Ace Ops finally admitted that they think of each other as more than just colleagues, only for them to lose another member…. It does sting a little. Harriet is now going to be carrying that guilt around for the rest of her life, that her actions led to Vine’s death. Her and Qrow can probably bond over that kind of guilt.
How fitting an end for Ironwood. All this time he’s considered himself the Hero of this story, that Salem was after him personally, that he was the only one worthy of saving Atlas. Not even the people just… Atlas (“this kingdom, it’s technology”). And what happens? When Salem finally is in front of him she doesn’t even spare him a glance. She walks right by him without a word because he was never more than a pawn in this game. Her target was never him. And when Cinder says “checkmate” (The Final Word btw) he realizes the one that had been messing with him, leaving Chess Pieces was one of Salem’s underlings. He realizes that the symbol that’s been haunting him wasn’t even from Salem herself. He was never anymore than a bit player. And now he gets to go down with the city (not even the people) he spent all this time trying to protect. Like a captain and their ship. Poetry. Cinematic poetry.
The fact that Weiss used Gambol’s (the name of Blake’s weapon) gun/sword to shoot and dual wield at Cinder always gets me for some reason. Also the fact that for a while there, Weiss thought she’d literally lost her first real family. That Blake, Ruby, and Yang were all just gone. Owwwww.
Wherever they ended up I’m so glad all of Team RWBY (and Jaune and Neo) are together. I could not handle another volume with them separated in any capacity. It is interesting that Neo fell too. Are we gonna get a Neo arc? Is everyone on the island(?) gonna finally talk about their issues and get some therapy?
What even is the island(?) anyway? What kind of realm is this? I mean, most of us have been speculating for about two years now on what all this means. There is a sneak peek out that RT released a few months ago if you wanna check it out.
Man I just, I really love this show and I really loved this volume. To me it was honestly the best RWBY has ever been. From the story, to the animation, to the music, to the lighting, to the voice acting. I love seeing how far CRWBY has come with this show and how much effort they put into it. All the improvements they’ve made over the years, it’s just incredible. Personally this show makes me incredibly happy, it’s my favorite show of the last decade. And I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in V9 proper.

Well, given Cinder's overarching plans, and the fact that she's the main villain of the series, we're likely not going to get Cinder's final defeat until the end of the series as a whole. Cinder still has much left to do in her quest to become the most powerful being of all, overthrow Salem and avenge herself upon Salem and the entire world for its perceived injustices against her. Cinder still has many more people to kill before she's done, including Raven, Winter, and whoever the current Summer Maiden is.

If you haven't already seen it, I would vote for the Netflix series Arcane as well. It's nothing short of amazing visually, action packed, political intrigue, and character development.
I’m hearing great things about arcane and I’m considering doing that as another reaction series. But I have to see what the beginning of 2023 looks like. This journey… Was special… A lot of good and a lot of bad… But I wouldn’t trade this entire experience, nor the community for anything.

12) Did you know that this Volume was possible the most 'controversial' between the fandom? So many people were divided on if Ruby was in the right or Ironwood before he just went crazy. People complained about Ruby being a hypocrit about the whole tryst thing, putting too much of a focus on saving mantle, and don't get me started how people reacted to her seeing Yang fall! (Basically people were complaining about how Blake showed more emotion to loosing Yang than Ruby. Despite the fact Ruby clearly went into shock and then immediately had to focus on Neo.)
13) continuing off of 12, people actually thought Emerald's turn to the goodside either came out of nowhere or was rushed like they haven't been slowly planning this since Volume 4. Same thing with Ironwood actually. There was a lot of confusion about why he refused to help Team Rwby. Espically after Salem was out for a while. And granted some points were valid but some people that complained about this stuff felt like they weren't even watching the show.

Jacques deserved to face justice before all of Atlas. Being incinerated by Ironwood like that leaves us feeling cheated because that was ordinary murder, not justice.
A lot of people have already brought up how all the episodes before the last one for this volume had simple, one-word titles, but then that one was called "The Final Word". And the last word we hear spoke in the episode (and volume) is "checkmate", implying that's meant to be the titles for the episode. But not many people notice there is *another* last word. Never does it specify we need to *hear* the last word; the last words *spoken* on screen, but muted out with the music playing over it, is Qrow calling out the names of Ruby and Yang.

Since he can't kill Penny, He basicly boosted her aura, and cut pasted the robot parts next to her, her boosted soul then regenerates a human body completely within the aura's shell left behind. is how I understand the Loop-hole and how an aura heals, hence the mega boost for the duration of the creation.

Ghost, I'm sorry. You said no spoilers, and it hurt not to, knowing how it was going to go, and knowing how we all feel about Penny...
Penny was too pure for that world. I'm glad they gave her a sendoff where she smiles. Also F for Vine, too. Nothing he ever did was malicious, it was all based around logic, sensibility, and duty. Moving beyond that to save his friends was a great sendoff as well.
Harriet... I think Clover was someone she might've admired or even loved. When he died, she got stuck in the second stage of grief: anger. The five stages are no joke, and make you act in ways you never would normally. Some people never move on. She had perhaps a week at most. You yourself immediately turned to Anger at Vine's death. That poor chair...
There's a lot of speculation about the tree at the end. I believe it may be the world tree Yggdrasil, whose branches connect all realms, even the realm of the dead. So we might be able to see some old faces in Volume 9 as the girls, Neo, and Jaune explore. Everyone that fell had someone they lost, good or bad. Pyrrha, Torchwick, Adam, Jacques... Even Penny. An opportunity for closure, or even one last adventure with some.
That's why I'm hopeful we might see them all again.
If we do get Roman I just think it's a shame it'll be Christopher Wekhamp like in Queendom - he just doesn't do it for me, doesn't have the right sound. I understand they're not on good terms with Grey anymore (with good reason), but I really wish they would've chosen like... J. Michael Tatum or Ian Sinclair, someone a little smoother like that.

If you listen to penny's dialogue when she first lands in front of Ironwood.. She uses the word "Don't". That was the first clue that it wasn't really Penny. The real Penny did not use contractions. You can rewatch whole series.. She doesn't use contractions.
Another important detail to note is that Cinder wasn't at full strength in that final fight against Winter Maiden Winter. Cinder had just spent the last two chapters fighting practically everyone (and winning) and had expended much energy in the effort. Winter, on the other hand, *_was_* at full strength. Although she had been beaten by Ironwood and her Aura and energy levels fully depleted, both her Aura and her strength were fully regenerated upon receiving the powers of the Winter Maiden.
We can see just how much energy Cinder had spent already by comparing two of her attacks from two separate battles. Notice, how in her fight against Penny in "Amity", Cinder summoned *_dozens_* of swords to attack Penny in a seemingly endless barrage, while when Cinder does the same attack against Winter, she is only able to summon less than a dozen.
I find it impressive that despite Cinder’s vast injuries and the fact that she was tired from having expended much of her powers fighting throughout the last two episodes, that she was still able to fight a fully-rejuvenated Winter Maiden Winter on equal footing and even get the last hit of the match. Considering the vast gap in their skill levels, Cinder might've still beaten Winter if the fight had gone on longer.
Winter may have been prepared by Ironwood to use the Winter Maiden powers, but even then she was lucky that she didn’t have to fight Cinder when Cinder was at full strength, or else she may not have fared nearly as well as she did. And I have a feeling that the next time they fight, Cinder will *_easily_* defeat Winter, and possibly kill her. After all, we saw Cinder outmatch both her and Penny both separately and simultaneously in the Volume 7 finale before they took the fight outside, and that was without using any Maiden powers.
Cinder will likely possess all the Miaden powers eventually. It's just a matter of whether or not she kills the hosts in the process. We know Cinder doesn't need to kill them in order to take their powers, but Cinder *_wants_* to kill them afterwards anyway.
Two little details I always liked…
1) when Penny was a robot she would say “you would not know” .. but when she became human she would use conjunctions “you wouldn’t know”
2) J’s sword broke where it did because it had the blood of an innocent on it (Penny) … since he’s based on Joan of Arc .. that’s a thing to tip the hat
Contractions. Also, that was a clue when Emerald posed as her. Emerald, as Penny, was _also_ using contractions when talking, which was the hint. That was also a gimmick used Star Trek TNG; Data, as an android, didn't use contractions. And in one episode, that was used to clue in that something was amiss when a character was noticing certain "inconsistencies" around him, one of which being not-Data occasionally slipping up and using a contraction.
Also, just like in TNG, the whole "androids don't use contractions" Quirk wasn't really codified until later, so in the first few seasons, both Data *and* Penny were using them before dropping them in future episodes.

I really felt bad for James in this volume. The entire time he’d been preparing, readying himself for the gates of hell.
He revived Penny, he prepared Winter to be the maiden, he recalled Atlas and prepared them for war, he prepared Amity to tell everyone the truth, and when Team RWBY came knocking on his door, he was happy to see them and gave them what they needed. A place to rest, weapon upgrades, the Relic, he did EVERYTHING RIGHT.
Only for it to never be enough. He kept giving until he had nothing left to give, from resources to his own arm, he was toyed with until Cinder gave him the breaking point: the chess piece. The Queen. Only the Queen was never Salem, it was Cinder. He relied on Mettle, making choice after choice without thinking of the consequences anymore. There was no heart to follow anymore, there was only his iron willed conviction leading him down a path of no return.
And where did it leave him? Treated like another soldier, on the floor and not worth Salem’s glance. Where Leo’s cowardice got him killed, it was James’ lack of a heart. For he once had one, he traded it for mettle.
Let’s hope Theodore doesn’t make the same mistake, for he’s now the last hope of Remnant.

The part about making Penny a real body was a bit complicated. Ambrosius can only make one creation at a time. So if you have something new done, the old one disappears. So they couldn't just ask for a new body for Penny or she would disappear when they wished for something else. So what they did is they hoodwinked the rules into working for them. Ambrosius cannot kill anyone, so they wished for him to essentially remove Penny's body from her mind and soul and make a new body from the parts he removed.
Now, what is left when a soul and mind have no body? No one can say, because in order for him to not break his 'no killing' rule, Penny needed to continue living, which is how they duped a new body into reality on a technicality with the creation, because there needed to be *something* to house Penny's soul.
We've finally come to the close. What a journey we've all had. I'm not sure what I'm going to do without your weekly RWBY reactions unless you decide to do Ice Queendom, which might carry you all the way to volume 9. I'm so greatful for your content. Yours is the only reaction series I've caught from the start to the end in real time. Cheers to you good sir!

51:51 No, they weren't. They literally did it to my favourite characters. If you think about it, Penny died for like three times. First, at the Vytal Tournament against Pyrrha. Then, lost her mechanical body to Watts' Virus, dying at the hands of Cinder (I know it's Jaune who ended her life, but the blood is on Cinder's hands) shortly after becoming a real girl. I'm still hoping they don't kill off my third favourite character, Robyn, in next volume.

How I believe Salem viewed Ironwood the entire time he thought he was the one true hero actually involved in playing this big chess match of a war she has raging with Ozpin (in the great words of Azula herself): "Don't flatter yourself. You were never even a player."
I love Emerald's comment near the start, and I feel it doesn't get enough attention in terms of what it shows of her development.
It's such a good dramatic moment when the pleasant music swells as the villains enter, then that smash cut. So good!
Regarding Jacques, the consensus in my circles is much the same as yours. He deserved punishment or comeuppance, but he didn't deserve to be murdered.
Vine was a real G. Even though we finally find out Harriet's motivation for her behavior it does NOT excuse it. She has a steep hill to climb, and plenty of well-earned guilt to weigh her down.

I love that mental pause of "Yes, Jacques was a prick and deserved to be beaten within an inch of his life, but did he deserve to just get outright murdered?" so ethics do come into play. He was definitely deserving of everyone giving him a fist to the face, but even I have to feel bad that he got brutally murdered like that. With no money or power, Jacques isn't a threat to anyone anymore. But Ironwood definitely was. But even I feel bad that he met his end with his kingdom collapsing with him trapped inside it.
What a year it's been with this channel. Watching a hopeful man descend into the pain of being in the rwby Fandom. See you at the premiere.

Schnee girls really are just built different, I swear. Winter willingly tried to fight Ironwood for an extended period of time on a falling Atlas, just to keep him from endangering anyone else. And Weiss willingly tried to 1 v 1 a maiden three separate times, two of which where done whilst her aura was down.

Going on this journey has reinvigorated me exponentially. After years and years of the RWBY and RTAnimation Community bogging down my experience with toxicity. My love for this show was wilting from the horrible stigma I had come to associate the show with. But watching you, Ghost, with your fresh eyes, honest soul, and heroic heart; I felt all that love resurge.
I love RWBY. I love RoosterTeeth. For all the laughs and love it has filled me with. And I you to thank for rescuing that love. I've seen plenty of reactors to RT, but none have ever put as much into their videos as you do. You are an astounding man. Thank you.
