    That’s crazy. A two brick pier is bad enough against two doorways but an expansion joint in between, won’t be long before all the joints start cracking with doors being closed

    Awful design when you’ll have a door slamming and you’ve got a brick either side

      What's worse is the the trays over the 2 lintels. The firesock has to be continuous, the trays won't go past the the ends of the lintels, therefore it doesn't work and is a massive design flaw. Had this before where I had an argument with NHBC about it. If you put the tray through continuous, it's an item, if you don't and the tray doesn't go past the end of the lintel it's an item.
      I said what the fk am I supposed to do then. He said the firesock is more critical, do that.
      This was on a Barratts site in Liverpool. Complete bollocks.
      Even more so when trays aren't necessary over lintels, it's the manufacturers won't guarantee the lintel for 25 yrs unless it has a tray and NHBC wankers jump on the tray band wagon.

    Another great video Charlie. Well done pal. It’s nice to see that Brickies down south have the same crap details on your houses like here up north. Great tips and tricks for the up and coming Brickies of the future. Just on small point your white expansion foam is the wrong way round. The rip strip should but at the front 🤣 so it can be removed prior mastic . Take care Charlie . Im a time served bricklayer still house bashing at 64. Your a Top Lad.👍

    What is the point in having expansion in that short space. I can understand if it carries on above the door but couldn't you just start the expansion once you get above the frame

  • @willbee6785
    @willbee6785 Рік тому

    On these stand-alone door formers, just cut to size 2 pieces to make the formers parallel and battery drill screw them to the middle and top. Remove these pieces when the mortar is going off or set.

  • @willbee6785
    @willbee6785 Рік тому

    That joint is asking for trouble. It reminds us of short returns; they invariably crack. Two heavy doors slamming shut periodically; asking for trouble. Can see claims going in one after the other here.
    The expansion foam rip strip should be to the front.
