Welcome to New Zealand, guys! So glad you're with us, you're a Kiwi the second you touch down. Love Northland, it's a really special part of Aotearoa. Hopefully you get the chance to do a decent amount of travel. The best piece of advice I can give you to REALLY get to see New Zealand is this... The best parts of New Zealand are found at the end of a gravel road. The secret, hidden gems that truly give you a taste of what New Zealand is all about, are all off the beaten track. Ask the locals, and be prepared to get your boots muddy... but the experience at the end of weird little side road you find yourself on will blow you away. If you're ever in Taranaki and want to find those magical spots hit me up. My little family are always up for an adventure.

😂😂 yeah, in South Africa somebody always pumps the petrol…they even wash your windscreen, check oil and water and they even check tire pressure (at no extra cost, but we normally tip the attendants)

Well done guys. The move is huge. Leaving your country of birth is a brave thing to do. I did the same thing 12 years ago and NZ has been good to us. My advice is to focus on the excitement of a new country and not to compare it to South Africa. In saying this, there is not a day when I do not feel homesick. South Africa still and always will hold a huge space in my heart. We have embraced the Kiwi lifestyle with boats, jet skis and various outdoor activities. I went back to some of your earlier videos and saw the one about Royal Natal National park and felt the homesickness again as it was an annual pilgrimage for us when we lived in SA.

I got to re-live my experience seeing all of that for the first time almost 4 years ago when we moved here. Welcome guys, you won't be disappointed in Whangarei. Sandy's to Whananaki hike is amazing too, try that next time you're out Sandy's way and check out Wellington Bay in Tutukaka also, another gem. Paihia is an hour up North, definitely head up there and to Russel at some stage, the Bay of Islands will blow your mind again.

The time is just dragging by so we decided to spend a few days exploring pilanesberg region just to stay busy. We watched your newest video last night and NZ is so beautiful. We believe that the regions are different but facts like the different electrical providers and mobile packages are some important details which we suspect will be similar everywhere in NZ. I love Whangarei, my brother lives there, in Onerahi, and I love visiting him there too. I love Ocean beach, up at Whangarei Heads, its possibly my favourite in the world!. I'm coming for a visit in March, maybe I'll see you guys around. 🥰 I really enjoyed watched your adventures, it reminded me of when my other half, and our 2 teenage kids and I upped sticks and immigrated to Australia from the UK 13 years ago now, feels like yesterday still tho. Excellent to see. Whale Bay is our favourite, but we also love Oakura. Bit of a drive on a very winding road, but worth it. Helena Bay Cafe is a must, great views from the deck and some amazing artwork for your new home.
I'm glad your first impressions are really good. As far as I know New Zealand can be expensive to live in, but it's very worth it. As an Aussie, NZ is like family. Sometimes I am envious of NZ government and politics and wish Australia was more like NZ! The people and culture is fantastic, the natural beauty outstanding.

I visited Whangerais twice in 1969 and 1972 on one visit an officer died in a car crash. The Maori people provided an escort in the pouring rain to bring his body back to the ship. He was buried at sea. This is something I will never forget

I was born and raised in Whangarei. You've chosen a great place to live. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. It looks like you enjoy hiking. I would recommend that you hike up Mt Mania at Whagarei Heads. There's amazing views of the harbour and you can see across to Marsden Point oil refinery. Apart from the beaches I always enjoyed walking around the town basin looking at the boats. There's also some very cool shops and restaurants there. I hope you love Whangarei and Northland as much as I do. There's so many beautiful places to see. I wish you much happiness and success here in New Zealand 💕

But I really like Northland too and glad you're seeing some top spots. Officially, summer starts in December but I promise you... Oh my, just stumbled upon your channel as you guys left SA. I think it had something to do with a search I did in UA-cam about what foreigners think about SA and the rabbit hole started there. LOL !! NZ is a beautiful country. We have family in Auckland who also immigrated YEARS ago ... 2009 I think and also have family in Tauranga. Once you guys are settled in well, do take a drive down to Tauranga - only about 3 or so hours drive. From all the pics I've seen from my cuz there as well as a friend who is there as I type this on holiday, it is really awesome - so many WOWs to come. LOL. Do you guys have fibre where you're renting? I guess no need to worry about installing an inverter and battery to keep the lights on. LOL !!!! We hope to visit NZ one day, but eish, so expensive those flights. All the very best in settling in. But always remember to keep the saffa spirit high and light the fire for the braai. I grew up Auckland and my parents usually took us to the grandparents on school holidays in Whangarei...best childhood memories came from this place and Kawakawa just chilling, playing in the Balmy summer days all day long...weather wise I think you have arrived at the wettest summer on record due to the La Nina weather pattern that affects Australia and NZ every 5 or so years. Also hope youre coping with the inflation prices in nz...must of been super expensive moving over
Have to admire your taste. Northland is beautiful, except for the roads. Lived here all my life. Plenty of SA'cans here. They seem to fit in once we teach them about rugby and cricket. Haere Mai.

😂😂 yeah, in South Africa somebody always pumps the petrol…they even wash your windscreen, check oil and water and they even check tire pressure (at no extra cost, but we normally tip the attendants)

Well done guys. The move is huge. Leaving your country of birth is a brave thing to do. I did the same thing 12 years ago and NZ has been good to us. My advice is to focus on the excitement of a new country and not to compare it to South Africa. In saying this, there is not a day when I do not feel homesick. South Africa still and always will hold a huge space in my heart. We have embraced the Kiwi lifestyle with boats, jet skis and various outdoor activities. I went back to some of your earlier videos and saw the one about Royal Natal National park and felt the homesickness again as it was an annual pilgrimage for us when we lived in SA.

I got to re-live my experience seeing all of that for the first time almost 4 years ago when we moved here. Welcome guys, you won't be disappointed in Whangarei. Sandy's to Whananaki hike is amazing too, try that next time you're out Sandy's way and check out Wellington Bay in Tutukaka also, another gem. Paihia is an hour up North, definitely head up there and to Russel at some stage, the Bay of Islands will blow your mind again.

The time is just dragging by so we decided to spend a few days exploring pilanesberg region just to stay busy. We watched your newest video last night and NZ is so beautiful. We believe that the regions are different but facts like the different electrical providers and mobile packages are some important details which we suspect will be similar everywhere in NZ. I really enjoyed watched your adventures, it reminded me of when my other half, and our 2 teenage kids and I upped sticks and immigrated to Australia from the UK 13 years ago now, feels like yesterday still tho. It was so much fun, living out of suitcases while we waited 3 months for all our stuff to arrive. Exciting times ahead.

Excellent to see. Whale Bay is our favourite, but we also love Oakura. Bit of a drive on a very winding road, but worth it. Helena Bay Cafe is a must, great views from the deck and some amazing artwork for your new home.
I'm glad your first impressions are really good. As far as I know New Zealand can be expensive to live in, but it's very worth it. As an Aussie, NZ is like family. Sometimes I am envious of NZ government and politics and wish Australia was more like NZ! The people and culture is fantastic, the natural beauty outstanding.

If you love costal life you've move to the perfect location. Beaches either way you travel. From 10 to 45mins depending on what your into. Rocky, boulder, fine sand, chucky sand, shelly. Whangarei has it all!!

I visited Whangerais twice in 1969 and 1972 on one visit an officer died in a car crash. The Maori people provided an escort in the pouring rain to bring his body back to the ship. He was buried at sea. This is something I will never forget

I was born and raised in Whangarei. You've chosen a great place to live. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. It looks like you enjoy hiking. I would recommend that you hike up Mt Mania at Whagarei Heads. There's amazing views of the harbour and you can see across to Marsden Point oil refinery. Apart from the beaches I always enjoyed walking around the town basin looking at the boats. There's also some very cool shops and restaurants there. I hope you love Whangarei and Northland as much as I do. There's so many beautiful places to see. I wish you much happiness and success here in New Zealand 💕

I am really loving this channel. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am from the lower North Island ... I think you'll love the Wellington region if you make it down some time. But I really like Northland too and glad you're seeing some top spots. Officially, summer starts in December but I promise you... The weather after New Years will really turn it on and make some of those amazing beaches even more enjoyable.
Oh my, just stumbled upon your channel as you guys left SA. I think it had something to do with a search I did in UA-cam about what foreigners think about SA and the rabbit hole started there. LOL !! NZ is a beautiful country. We have family in Auckland who also immigrated YEARS ago ... 2009 I think and also have family in Tauranga. Once you guys are settled in well, do take a drive down to Tauranga - only about 3 or so hours drive. From all the pics I've seen from my cuz there as well as a friend who is there as I type this on holiday, it is really awesome - so many WOWs to come. LOL. Do you guys have fibre where you're renting? I guess no need to worry about installing an inverter and battery to keep the lights on. LOL !!!! We hope to visit NZ one day, but eish, so expensive those flights. All the very best in settling in. But always remember to keep the saffa spirit high and light the fire for the braai. All the way from Cape Town.

I grew up Auckland and my parents usually took us to the grandparents on school holidays in Whangarei...best childhood memories came from this place and Kawakawa just chilling, playing in the Balmy summer days all day long...weather wise I think you have arrived at the wettest summer on record due to the La Nina weather pattern that affects Australia and NZ every 5 or so years. Also hope youre coping with the inflation prices in nz...must of been super expensive moving over

Well, I'd like to welcome you both to Whangarei. I just stumbled into this video (your channel) this evening somehow and was glad to see some more South Africans here in Whangarei/ New Zealand. I too am based in Whangarei - Parua Bay, to be more precise, which is on the way to Whangarei Heads. We're originally from South Africa and have been living in NZ since November 2008 and in Whangarei for the last 11 years. Saw your family on Country Calendar a couple of months ago and I am in awe of what your family have achieved. Kudos. Has the pineapple harvest finished for the year? Been meaning to drive up from Auckland just to come visit your stall for a pineapple!

@@BeingBedingfield Nope, mum is against it as she feels that its too unsafe. My British cousin from UK went there for business and almost got murdered, besides I don't have the money at the moment. Would love to go to a national park though. Ive been here too long, its home now.
