As a portrait photographer, for me, this lens is an absolute dream. I love the sharpness, autofocus speed the stunning bokeh. I just love this focal length.

love your review of this lens. I should have rented it first. it's so huge it's obnoxious that i should have went with the 50mm 1.2 and then the viltrox 85mm rf. keep up the great work!

Hi, I don't know your muscle shapes... but... IMHO it is absolutely no problem to hold that lens in one hand without dropping it. Yes, it has it's weight...

Hi Daniel. I like how you review all the gears. I have a suggestion, perhaps you can include AF noise test for video using internal mic (when testing the AF speed during 6:18) on every lens you review after this. Overall great review :)
Great vid Daniel! Just wondering how the law works in Germany for street photography? (passby people). And i must point out that although the 50mm 1.2 is truly superb and producing a gorgeous bokeh, in my opinion you can't put full body in frame and get it to blur the background enough. with the 85mm you can do it even with large objects such as car! But there is no doubt that this 50mm 1.2 will still deliver stunning results and is more practical.

What camera and lens is the best of both worlds? Video and stills. I really believe this combo is better that the nikon z7 or z6.

@@the_daniel_life lolz, who can afford the 85mm or the 50mm? Especially since the eos R5 is launching, as is the 35mm f/1.2 and for me, the 35mm is my top priority. Ideally, of course I would prefer all three.

what is the best Sharp 85RF or 50 RF ?
Both have the same sharpness

I have the RF50mm, so I can't get the RF85mm. I only have 1 kidney left. 😅 No seriously, I can't justify the price difference with my Tamron 85mm F1.8
How do you like the Tamron 85 on EOS R?
@@StewComedy I love it. I did have weird gray circles on my screen, but those went away when I turned off lens aberration correction in the menu if I'm not mistaken. Haven't checked if those were still there after firmware update 1.1.0 though. Otherwise it functions like a native lens. It's fast and sharp.
@Shichao Sun The VC works perfectly. I tested it at longer than a second with and without VC and the difference is day and night. No issues with AF.
So only issue is the transparent grey circle in your EVF and on the actual image when "lens peripheral illumination correction" is turned ON. It's still there after the 1.4.0. update, but I just turn that OFF.
