- Running the Max 6 1650kv combo. Finally hit 120MPH(4 minute mark)!!! 34T/46T gearing (dremeled the motor mount to support the 34T pinion from the XO-1), DBoot Hoons, 20M weight center diff fluid, stock radio and transmitter, no body mods, no chassis mods.

I've just finished my Limitless V2 (my 1st 1/7 RC😁) & I've fitted a Hobbywing 8bl150 G2 6S ESC & a Rocket 4092, 1650kv motor.!
Unfortunately it's running way too hot, I've modified a cheap motor slide plate to accept a 26 tooth pinion on the stock 39 tooth spool & I've upgraded to a 34,000 rpm ESC fan & I've got 2 of them on the motor heatsink.!
They're only 25mm & 35mm & they do push a lot of air, but I'm getting some 50mm ones to use instead as well as a heatsink that covers the entire motor.!!!
I've now ordered a couple of spools to try out, a 42 tooth & a 46 tooth, hopefully they'll help.
I'm not looking for a super speed run car, I'm after a reliable daily driver...
I'd still like to get around 80 mph out of it...
I never usually get my ESCs anywhere near thermal shut off, if it happens I immediately gear down to prevent it..
How safe is it to let your ESC repeatedly go into thermal cut off.???
I'm prepared to get myself a Hobbywing max 6 combo like yours if I can't get the 6S ESC & Rocket motor to work the way I want.!
They cost around £230/$295 in the UK, I don't know how much they are in the US.
I've been in the hobby for 5 years & I'm totally addicted.. I've got around 50+ RCs of all sizes, prices & types but my biggest, fastest ones so far are my 1/8 Hobao GTS & GTB, my PB is 78 mph using a similar system that I've fitted to my new Limitless.!
Like I say, this is my 1st 1/7 scale... I'm EXTREMELY impressed with it so far, it's just on another level altogether.!! 😁😁👍👍

I wonder if that motor is too large to push the 1650KV motor, which would heat up the ESC quickly. The 8BL150 G2 might be too small for the Limitless to constantly run 80MPH. The gearing your using should net you at least 106MPH if it doesn't amp out first. The 46T spool will help reduce heat and top speed, but even so, I think you'd be constantly pushing the system too much at 80MPH. These Arrma RCs are certainly awesome RCs, with tones of upgrades available. I would recommend the Max 6 G2 and 4990 G2 combo. It's $234 here in the US, but this new Max 6 G2 is much better than the previous version of the Max 6. Even if ran on 6S, with the proper gearing, it'll do 80MPH all day without breaking a sweat.

That 150 amp ESC & 4092 motor are much better suited to 1/8 scale cars, I'd just be asking too much from them to run a Limitless geared for 80 + mph & I'd eventually kill something.
I could set it up to do around 60 mph & it'd be fine I think...
But it's a LIMITLESS, why did I bother buying it if I'm not going to make it go fast.?? 😉😁😁... It deserves to have the best gear I can afford to fit in it.!

(As much as I'd love to, there's no way I can afford 8S Castle equipment... Well, I mean I could... But I wouldn't be able to go home to the missus for a month 😂 😂.. She's not daft, she knows how much my toys cost).!
Those Rocket motors are very good value though, I've got a few of them in all sizes & kv ratings & I'm quiet impressed..
I've noticed that they do run hot though.. Cooling fans & heat sinks are essential.!!
I definitely recommend them, also their predecessor, the Surpass KK series motors are very good, I use their 3660, 3670 & 4074 motors paired to a HW Max 10 or WP-SC8 120 amp, 4S ESC in most of my SC & MT rigs & I've hardly ever had any issues with them.!
Replace the bearings & they just keep on spinning.!! 👍 👍
They can be picked up for as little as £15/$20 in the UK.

@@alantaylor353 a 60 MPH Limitless would be a shame! Again, make sure it's the Max 6 G2 combo with the sensored set up and built in bluetooth. Here in the US, the Max 6 is only a couple dollars more than the previous generation.

Great run man! I'm glad you did it! 👍🏻👍🏻. I disagree with those people. I am not 100% sure, but i think this system can do 125mph/200kph on this platform (stock Infraction/Felony configuration + max6 and 4985 1650kv). From my calculations, the 34t is to big for this tho. 30-32 i think is the sweet spot for this. If i can reach 125, like you, i will "retire" the Felony from doing speed runs, and start another "impossible" project 😈😈. Never give up!
I’m completely sure the 34T is too tall for the system. I think 30T would hit 120MPH as well. I’m considering trying to get the XO-1 to 120, as that would prove a more difficult endeavor 😂
@@dgitalchaos true that! 😂😂😂 For sure that will be a exciting new mission, as it seems no one is trying to do any records with the XO1(at least in the past few years), and i don't really understand why. It seems to be a very well designed chassis for speed, so why not going that way?
@@nicozev8723 it’s too light with all the weight in the back and is very unstable above 100MPH. It was a pioneer back in its time, but even on the 2022 model, nothing much was improved. Arms have too much flex, driveshafts are weak, and the ESC can only be used with a Traxxas receiver. Extremely limited battery options as well. I might make a video comparing the two?
@@dgitalchaos I know all the "attributes" of the first xo1, and the second one. No one is using the stock Arrma system to achieve high speeds, so i assume same shoud be done with the xo1. Yes, the chassis is light, but it can be "tuned" with ballast weights in some places. And it's shape is quite nice (with the air vents on the bottom), plus the body is much more aerodynamic than all Arrma cars (but not better looking), so you have a nice starting platform. You can mod the placement of the batteries to be slightly more in the front and on the edges, and that will shift the weight to the front.
@@nicozev8723 I suppose I’m bitter towards the XO-1 since it’s so locked down. I owned the fist release of the XO-1 many years ago, and back then it was ahead of its time. On this 2022 model, I can’t even use a different radio, plus I was running the Mamba Monster system over 8 years ago on other platforms and there’s been no improvement to it, other than a small cap pack. They’ve really locked this Mamba to Traxxas and blocked all work-arounds. But as they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Hobbywing is def stepping up their game! I got their max8 system on my felony this past weekend I ran 101 but felony keeps catching air. I’m going to turn it into a limitless and try it again and see what happens but man nice run my goal is 120 I hit 111 with my limitless with a max5 and and. The 1650kv
Hobbywing has some great ESCs! I like the Max 6 G2 with the built in Bluetooth. I haven’t tried it in the Infraction yet. I need a motor mount for the 5690 motor.

Great speedrun, I'm debating if i should get an Infraction 6s BLX V2 or a Felony 6s BLX sometime this year btw i have that same Max 6 G1\4985 1,650kv ESC and Motor system you have in my XO-1. I plan to test my XO-1 this spring when i find an appropriate place to speedrun in my area if i can't get the XO-1 to go 100+mph i will swap out the Max 6 G1 combo and go with a Castle MMX8s\1717 combo.
I prefer the Infraction as all tires are the same size and it’s less expensive to get aftermarket tires like GRP slicks, which last a lot longer than stock tires.
With the XO-1, look into set ups from people that have ran faster than 100MPH. In my XO-1, I did hit 106MPH but the front end started shaking due to the arms being too flexible.
@@dgitalchaos I was thinking that the Infraction would be cheaper to get tires for in the long run and have more options. Although i've come to love the Felony looks but now that i think about it would be cheaper to own an Infraction long term. i can also convert the truck into an Infraction GT if i wanted to but for purely speedrun purposes i'll most likely buy and build up a Limitless V2 in the future. I'll mostly use my infraction for street and parking lot bashing alongside my XO-1. My plan is to make both the XO and the Infraction be cars i can bash with and speedrun occasionally.
@@cjchannel12RC the Infraction body is also a lot tougher than the Felony body. The Felony is a harder plastic, so it cracks instead of binding. Plus with the Felony and Infraction, you have a lot more battery options since the trays are larger. The Infraction weighs almost 11 pounds, compared to the 8.5 pounds that the XO-1 weighs. It drives truer than the XO-1, at least in my experience.
@@dgitalchaos I didn't know that the Infraction body was tougher than Felony body. but i do know that the Infraction body has the roll cage and roof skids the outer roll bars can also double as a handle for carrying the RC. Oh really the Arrmas drive truer than the XO-1 although i've seen many videos and the Arrma's seen to go straighter. I did put a cheap amazon servo in my XO-1 and fine tuned it with my radio that also has a gyro built into the receiver and my XO-1 drives mostly straight but i do have to trim it every now and again.
@@cjchannel12RC I went off the road once with my Felony 6S (RadioLink went out of range) and the body got a huge crack, whereas I’ve got cracks on my Infraction body, but I’ve also crashed into other RCs and other toys on purpose.
I couldn’t quite hear the beeps, is it running 6 or 8s? I had the same system in my stretched typhon and on 6s with 34/39 spool I could only get 88mph.
Running 8S. On 6S, I got 98MPH running 29/46. I’ll try a 6S pass with 34/46 and see what she does.

You might have to accelerate slower to get full speed or might need better batteries. I kept getting 119MPH but did finally manage 120MPH on this system.
I just built a dual motor kraton 6s from the ground up with the 4985 build g it for speed runs. I haven’t run it but it has a 34t spool and 30t pinion… I have no idea what I’m doing but figured two motors could push this a little better and seen people with that set up in the limitless do 80-100 mpg usually on 6s. Any ideas I’m all ears I have all kinds of gears and differentials ?!?!
@@troymacleod7944 the main thing is batteries. I’ve gotten the stock system to 106MPH with gearing. I’ve never tried dual motors, but the record holder last time I checked was 221MPH with a single motor. It depends a lot on the road you use and if you can ease into the throttle to keep it from amping out.
@@dgitalchaos I added a gyro and perfect pass today it’s all ready to go just pinion selection and a few laps on the street see if it shakes anything loss or it’s goi bc straight. Not sure I’ll fit 4 4s seems two 4s 6500 mah and 2 5200 mah is all I’ll fit I have a 9000 mah but it’s too long… lots of people are doing dual motors I think they miss the point that double torque means smaller spool bigger gear potential?!
Wow 106mph stock I guess it’s apples to oranges but my kraton didn’t go that in km lol on stock but all I did was add a 20t and call it a day
@@troymacleod7944 I meant to say I got 106 MPH on the Infraction on 6S with stock electronics. I got 74MPH with the stock electronics on the Kraton 6S, but was just messing around and not really trying for speed. It was super squirrelly above 65MPH due to the stock tires.
