    I bought one of these controllers. I think I fried it using the the hover board battery. What is the maximum size battery I can use with this control unit. I was also wondering if I can use a 19 V DC power supply with it instead of the battery. I’m looking to make a large rock Tumblr with it and I need constant power for weeks. Please let me know your thoughts on this. I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

    To slow the motor use dynamic breaking. Power to zero. Short 2 of the 3 wires together and it will come to a stop, the motor will induce current in the coils, causes dynamic breaking. But it takes motion to do this. So the effect stops when the motor does

    Thanks for this! I'm about to try it with the 36V hoverboard lipo. Can you explain why it fried your board? They should be able to take 36V? They say to add heatsinks to the MOSFETs over 60W, did you try that? I'm trying a similar "DC 12V-36V 15A 500W Brushless Motor Controller Hall BLDC Driver Board LJ" $10 board.

    Did you test it with initial torque? I tested this controller and it have problems to start when wheel is under a load (initial torque). In your video all rotation tests is in "free wheel" condition so it starts smoothly. But when wheel is under the little load controller has problems to start (it just jumping back-forward). Just start rotation in slow rate and try stop it by hand, it has no torque-control loop.

    Will it work without hall sensors?

  • @ThnkCmdyFeelTrgdy
    @ThnkCmdyFeelTrgdy Рік тому

    I'm curious about the Hall Sensors, do they need to be connected?
    It's not like a BLDC controller needs Hall sensors to run, they can easily run in sensor less mode. Hall sensors are more about information on the running motor such as direction and speed. Its possible to adjust a BLDC motor just using the phase wires and looking at current draw/feedback but there are numerous other variables both static and dynamic that increase complexity and ultimately limit effectiveness. Hall sensors can provide detailed position information which certainly improves the ability to tune a BLDC's performance, however there are many many different kinds of Hall Sensor based on measured parameters and abilities of detection. Hall sensors can just detect, or provide position, they act as momentary switches, or as latch switches.
    I have ordered similar controller boards, but the documentation is utterly void of any specifics regarding the Hall Sensors... It makes some comment about motor being different, parents paying attention, and my drive plate will burn.... While its possible they are trying to say: If you drive your parents car faster than they do, they will burn your dinner and serve it to you on a plate, I suspect they intended something else. I believe this is a warning that when connecting call sensors you must be careful the connections don't overload (e.g.

I’m hoping to run it on a 19 volt power supply. I tried to get the motor running using one of the other controller boards without the clip on wire leads on it. So I’m really hope this works as it’s getting expensive . I’m up over $35 on the 2 boards. Good luck with your build.

      It will work with 36 volts given that you use heat sink. I was using it without heat sink.

    Is there a way that you can still use the 36v? I want to control 2 wheels, some 12v RGB lights, AND SOME speakers so it can talk and play music too.

      @netmedias7657  6 років тому

      Holly Hertig It works with 36v but voltage regulator gets very hot. Make sure you use a heat sink. If your thinking about using it with hoverboard like setup then don't use it. It does not have any breaking use a $33 hoverboard kit. You can also add led and BLE sound to it. Good Luck.

      Netmedias I have this same question. I’m a dwarf. I’m 3ft and 55 lbs. I want to build a small powered wheelchair that I doesnt weight 120 lbs. I want to use these BLDC motors and a 36v Lipo for light weight. I had someone suggest using a modded hoverboard motherboard. What would you suggest? What about a sabertooth? Any benefit for one over the other? Besides price? Thanks for any input!

    Question what’s the EL and Signal wires for?

    • @netmedias7657
      @netmedias7657  6 років тому

      EL enable start/stop control (terminal connected to 5V start or grounding the motor stops)
      Signal is for sensing hall encoder.

    Question: My hoverboard motors had one more wire coming out of it - a white one... Is that anything you've seen before? It *might* be power for the LEDs in the hub - I will check that out too...

      It will work with any MCU with 5v GPIO. I had some issues using it with ModeMcu without using a level shifter.

      It depends on the type of controller. You can get a controller without the hall sensor and it should work.

    I follow your instructions just fine, but I question your choice of terminology. The "POD" as you call it, is referred to as a "POT" to the rest of the electronics community. POT being the short term for POTENTIOMETER unless I'm missing something brought out in a previous video. BTW these home automation videos of yours, are the best on UA-cam for this subject. Good job!
