Dudes!!! Don't know how I missed this video...🤣... looks like an awesome little trail...that last sight was the bomb man!!! I see now how nice the full down suits performed!!!
Hey fellas always bring a pad in the winter time :) a few times now I've gone to ground due to extreme cold destroying gear. Last week I went to the Frozen but hang in Minnesota it was - -55! We camps there for 3 days. You guys should look it up. It was fun.
Nice retool from Sods guys. The record wet Ohio Fall and Winter has made it tough to put 2 nights together. We camped MLK long weekend with an Amazing red super wolf moon , only after it rained into snow then dropped to -10 in 24 hours. The rapid deep freeze set us off mud free at least with fresh powder under foot. At -10 * I hammocked with 20 * down gear stacked with summer down gear top and bottom. Pretty snug, No shivering but woke up to a cold spot a few times. Really was fun and beautiful. Learned a lot. Had planned for Vesuvius but opted for stealth spot in Hocking hills due rainy start to weekend. Got to get to Vesuvius ASAP.
Epic find. Glad you had a better time than the sods. Excellent video. Am planning an Ohio trip in June. Am thinking of hitting one of the sections of Wayne heading home.
my dudes MIXING it up with the wintry MIX..oh and the Doritos and brewskys help in those sweet ass 4 season conditions...great vid fellas..im digging the gear nerding as well..keep it up boys
You picked a great weekend to test that gear! Great shots! Isn't it amazing how spoiled we get with chairs. Three years ago we were all sitting on logs or the ground with sit pads!! Great advice to always have a complete set of dry clothes ... that can save lives!! 😎😎
I can relate to you Andy, we all got some favourite piece of gear that we really like. So anyone else see a repair kit for these camp chairs in the making? I guess it just a matter of time...
Looked like a fun time. Tough spending a lot of time in camp when its wet AND cold. Looked like you guys have it figured out. Im in Eastern NC. Any trips in the Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee areas this year. Id love to check out your approach to things, especially the hammock set ups. Ill bring the B&G and Doritos. 🤙
Thank you gentlemen for sharing another fine video. Two thumbs up on this one. Too bad about Andy's chair. That is a royal bummer. Looks like you guys are adjusting to the elements quite well. Thank goodness for extra clean dry clothes. When is happy hour? You guys take care, be safe and always have fun. See you on the next one. 🤗
Rip camp chair. I don't always use them but this time of year I feel they are a must. Good use of the carcass and sit pad though way to make the best of it.
This is true. However- the ice and snow ‘stuck’ to it easier. The SIL tarps did absorb easier however when you shook them all the snow and ice came off easily.
I usually wouldn’t recommend McDonald’s but it’s 100 times better than Mountian House. Lol. It’s Lawless in the Red River Gorge right now too because of the government shutdown. I have to admit I kinda love it. I like your setup guys. I’ve broken a Helinox chair too. I liked the second campsite beside the lake. Very beautiful even in the rain. Great trip guys. Looked like a fun adventure
Schill Brothers Outdoors the Auxier Ridge area is my favorite in the winter. But the off trail parts. Like Star Gap and Jailhouse Rock. Some places you might have to carry some water there. Maybe a mile. But it’s really fun out there. Most of the time in the winter they have tunnel ridge road closed and you can walk from Martin Fork to Auxier Ridge which is a beautiful hike too. You can always park at Martin Fork. Another trail to do is the Shellowtee Trail through the Gorge. South to North. I’m doing that trail in March with Lance and Subaru Josh and Jason Helmandollar in March. If you guys need some good maps of the RRG let me know. They sell them at a gear store in Lexington called J&H outdoors. The maps show a lot of off trails and campsites and etc.... I’ve got them for a lot of people. There just a couple bucks too. You guys can hit me up anytime on info on the Gorge and let me know if you want one of those maps. It’s no problem. Have a good weekend
You guys are upping your production value... Very nice! Those M50's provide some nice footage. When that storm came through, I was secretly wishing I was able to get out, I'm glad someone did!
Extra tarp + cloths is cluuuuutch for a rainy/snowy day. For what it is worth I am on team breakfast skillet lol.... I think we can agree both are delicious. Just don't do eggs and bacon people!!!
UA Speedfreak Bozeman 2.0. I would recommend them. Not going to lie, I bought them primarily for hunting as they are really well insulated, they have been working out well. If it’s not really cold out, my feet sweat.
Thank you for the reply. I have a couple of questions: How does the nubuck leather hold up in wet conditions? Does it dry out much? And how is the sole when hiking with a pack load? Do you feel rocks etc when you walk on them? Are the soles real flexible - meaning they have limited support? Thanks.
Leather takes a long time to dry but my feet stay dry. Soles are wonderful, i don’t really feel individual rocks and roots. I like my trail runners the best but for these conditions they the boots work well.
Nice trip. I'm sure the chair defect was miserable. With all the fun extras, any idea on your pack weights? Thinking that Arc Haul must have been maxed out and uncomfortable?
Very nice trip. Did they replace the chair? Great find in the woods. Haven't found a stash like that in the woods yet. Waiting for the day thou. Like the idea of an extra tarp. Bringing a Kelty tarp for my next trip with the pulk. Take care and stay warm, Al
Hahahaha!!! I’ve contacted Helinox, haven’t heard anything yet, but people have said they have good customer service. It was a great find in the woods!
You guys sure did find some goodies in the woods! 👍😅 Mother nature gave you guys a good mix of weather with the rain, sleet and finally some snow . No Restless One for this trip? 😬❄🌬
I almost bought one of those chairs yesterday. I have the rei macro chair, nothing is wrong with it. I just wanted to try a lighter option. Sorry your chair broke, it doesn't seem like it has been a long time since you guys upgraded. Hopefully it won't be a problem to have it replaced.
Looks like so much fun
to prevent frozen boots and laces i put a handwarmer in each boot, stuff the laces in,then put a sock on top, nice warm boots in the morning
The ground welcomes You back its calling You! Great Vid!
Lol!
for your snow peak burner, blow some air to clean, sometimes spider gets inside. they like the taste of gas
Thanks for the tip

Adam I’ve watched some vids from those hangs before. My hats off to you!! That’s crazy cold!!

Good video. I just spent 3 days in the Beartooth mountains. Had a lot more snow.
Thank you guys for sharing another great video. You gentlemen are the best. Be safe and have a lot of fun. 🤗

Yall shoulda fashioned a bushcraft chair outta wood ☺. I like the vid
Much too lazy for that lol
Well done guys. I need to suck up the 5 hour drive, and go there. Alot of you guys recommend that place.
It’s our favorite place in Ohio so far
Litesmith QuikBack UL Chair. 2.65oz and stable.
Hard pass.
@@SchillBrothersOutdoors FULL GROUND STOP
$60 for that thing?! Two sticks and a folded patch of fabric? smh
Great video, love watching you guys👍. Looking forward to your post hike gear review.
In band we’re playing a song called Vesuvius

Wind blew my Helinox Chair Zero into the fire at Pictured Rocks in October 🔥 I feel your pain!
Wow!!! I wonder if Helinox would warranty that?

Real inclement weather gear review - rocks 😊

which hoodie wears Andy?
Hey guys. Like your tag team videos! What backpacks are you using?
Zpacks Arc Haul
I LOLed at the intro.
i like that patagonia down jacket, can you review it please.
I liked how the Dyneema tarp didn't absorb water and not sag.

Jason - we were considering RRG for this trip but got a lot of reports that the roads would be terrible. Thoughts on RRG in the winter??

Nice trip guys! You need to go redo the Sodd's now!
Jason - you’re right. We’ve got two more small winter tips lined up.
Oh man! poor chair! Looked like you guys were prepared! I need to check Wayne National out!
Biscuit and gravy and breakfast skillet mixed together is very good. Or substitute the skillet with the southwest hash
Now that’s a good idea!
You guys are upping your production value... Very nice! Those M50's provide some nice footage. When that storm came through, I was secretly wishing I was able to get out, I'm glad someone did!
Thanks Michael!
awesome vid guys
Nice! I felt Andy’s pain through the screen when it came to having a broken chair.
The struggle was real Tim
Extra tarp + cloths is cluuuuutch for a rainy/snowy day. For what it is worth I am on team breakfast skillet lol.... I think we can agree both are delicious. Just don't do eggs and bacon people!!!
Hahaha you are 100% correct! Both are excellent
lol so good!, .. 😂 Im impressed you took the big dslr out in the rain! Those shots looked amazing.
We have two M50s now, so not that bad
So those shots were M50? ... nice!!
Yep 2 M50s and some cell phone footage
I need to actually do a backpacking trip in Ohio
Hahaha you do! I get you’re logic as to why not but it might be time.
What UA boots are you wearing and do you like/recommend them???
UA Speedfreak Bozeman 2.0. I would recommend them. Not going to lie, I bought them primarily for hunting as they are really well insulated, they have been working out well. If it’s not really cold out, my feet sweat.

It is a pretty place, sucks about your chair. My friend had one break too. Looks like a fun trip.😀
Man, I have GOT to get down to Vesuvius!
Yes you do!
Nice trip. I'm sure the chair defect was miserable. With all the fun extras, any idea on your pack weights? Thinking that Arc Haul must have been maxed out and uncomfortable?
Archaul was fantastic. No where near the max weight. If I had to guess, our base weight with all the random extra gear and camera weight was 15-20lbs.
Very nice trip. Did they replace the chair? Great find in the woods. Haven't found a stash like that in the woods yet. Waiting for the day thou. Like the idea of an extra tarp. Bringing a Kelty tarp for my next trip with the pulk. Take care and stay warm, Al
