  • Today we go for a walk and talk about the 26mm Lumix f8 pancake L mount lens while it is on my Leica CL mirrorless camera. I walk around downtown Chattanooga a good bit and this actually fit my style pretty good. I do prefer to have an adjustable aperture control but for something as compact as the 26mm Lumix f8 pancake lens, this can be overlooked.

Nice video David. I am in the same boat as you. Really nice lens for walk around shooting. Gotta have good light. But, I have been a bit surprised that I like it so much.

Greetings from Atlanta! Love seeing your reviews of your lenses on the CL! And yeah… That focus zoom function moving around is so frustrating. It made me ditch the official M adapter and just use a 3rd party one. I bet that new Panny 18-40 zoom would be nice!

Panasonic has a new 18-40mm??? That is a wonderful range for the CL!!! Yes!!! I must go right now and find pictures. Haha. Thank you!!!

@@davidsaylors Sigma make a tiny 18-50 f2.8 lens as well, for APSC. The Lumix 18-40 is a collapsing FF lens, so it is a lot slower than the Sigma.

Panasonic Lumix Manual Focusing and F8 26mm in daylight only. It is sharp at F/8. Reminds me of the Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 Pancake AF Lens only for Sony. With the Megadap ETZ21 Pro Adapter having the Viltrox or any other Sony E Lens with the Nikon Z Mirrorless Cameras. Cheers!

Yep, I can’t seem to come up with a reason to sell it. I like it too well.

Looks like a interesting pancake lens I like 28mm lenses on APS-C cameras and I agree I prefer a 2.8 aperture. I have a Pentax M lens with a apature ring and a viltrox 28mm2.8 Manuel focus A lens you can set the aperture using the rear control dial on any Pentax DSLR camera and the cameras give you focus confirmation in the viewfinder

Isn't this lens intended for full frame only?

I am a little surprised that you have to focus a 26mm f/8 at all. Back in the days we had "fixfocus" lenses - anything sharp over the full range, or at least from 3 or 4 feet on.

To be honest, I was too. They would have probably been perfectly fine printed 4x6 as I only noticed when I used focus magnification, then it was apparent. Good to hear from you Ralf, thanks for your time.
