This is EXACTLY what I am working on atm and so helpful. Been throwing away point after point through double faulting. First it goes long, then I bail, spin out and it’s into the net. More of a cut than a kick. Very disheartening. This is gold Nik and thanks to Felipe for agreeing to have all this on video. Great stuff guys, will be practising it asap.

The incredible challenge of changing muscle memory and when you have to change not only one but a few points of the progression and movement.
Very tough task for both Nik and Phillipe.
    Great video.

Felipe, Nick, I think what Felipe is describing regarding seeing the ball is 2 things: 1) eye dominance, assuming he is right eye dominant and 2) ball tracking.
For eye dominance, I'm not going to go much into it, I don't want my man Coach Simon saying this theory and that coach are incorrect 😅. Fact is, for most,it is easier to track as a right eye dominant a bh, I believe that's why Felipe can see the ball better.
For the ball tracking, there's a video from almost a year to the date from RacquetFlex named the "Quiet eye method". In there they go into detail on how the eyes and tracking work and they explain that in reality, in high speed balls, you track and see the ball until a certain moment and then your brain, eye, muscle memory, etc, then look at where they will hit the ball, assuming a trajectory of it, but not necessarily because it is tracking it "frame by frame".
Nick does mention to Felipe that the last millisecond you indeed don't track it behind the speed, it does feel to me that there's more to that.
I suggest to just watch the video and see what you understand and if it makes sense to you or not; it did make a lot of sense to me. They don't post many videos but they are all very good quality.✌️

Omg.. Just when I thought I had seen it all on kickserves, Nick and Felipe manage to put up this amazing video. Great explanations of what to do and what NOT to do. Especially on the eye tracking. Great camera angles. Already seeing some improvements after a short serving session today. Thank you so much for sharing - makes me want to fly to Nick and get the same treatment! :-)

A good cue that works for me to achieve better "staying sideways" for kick serve: get the feel of sending the ball over the left shoulder, same to some "no-look" CC passing shots from close to the net, if you get what I mean. Makes wonders

The content in this video really rounds out the content from the many other videos. 1) The detailed breakdown of the proper target in the box. 2) The effect of shoulder turn negating the kick effect. 3) The difference between standing still while simulating the abbreviated arm action versus the full swing. Plus lots of other nuances.
This one should be put into the the Smithsonian for future generations!

Regarding not watching the ball when serving, this is a problem for me I addressed a couple of months ago. It only happened on my kick serve and I was framing and sometimes missing the ball entirely.
I still naturally go back into my old habit but at least I know what the issue is and its kind of nice to see other players doing the same thing

@@IntuitiveTennis quick question: how much is the high bounce from spin vs. gravity? Tried some more kick serve this morning with old balls in cold/damp condition, and the balls did not bounce nearly as high. (Still helpful as a reliable 2nd shot for sure). Thanks!

At over 55 I have good kick serve. I achieve this by moving my right foot around and back (compared to flat/ slice) before I start. This puts me more side on and makes the correct swing path easier to achieve and more natural. It also means I don’t have to contort my body to get under the ball as it is just automatically in the right place. It is simple and it is really reliable.

It's nice to see how a player struggles and what a real lesson looks like. On the other hand it's a bit too long with too many asides and tangents. Also, a trick to help the player stay sideways is to tuck the left arm longer and further back at contact

If you truly watch and listen to this and the other videos of N. A. you will learn. Become less intellectually arrogant, ignorant and narrow minded. You will see how little you know and how much he knows. He has studied the game deeply and honestly. Become aware, that he sacrifices much of his LIFE to give us FREE and TRUE information. We should be grateful that he does it. I certainly am. Thank you a lot, Nikola (Tesla)!

I am 5.5 player. A few years ago I played tournament against the guy who had unbelievable kick serve. The balls just bounced close to the line and flayed high and out at AD point and it was almost impossible to reach out and hit back... Some times later I saw the same guy playing doubles in clubs league against 2 guys who used to be top junior playes and they had exactly the same problem with his serve.. Watching Djokovic against Alcatraz I also noticed that a few times he also.had problem with his kick serve... I practiced a lot improveing my kick serve but so far I am really far from reaching the level that would give me some easy points. in my game.

@14:50, another thing that could be happening is autopilot. In pole vault, certain movements were really difficult to practice because I'd have a clear memory up until that movement, and a clear memory immediately afterwards, but right in that moment my subconscious would take over and I'd "blank out" and lose all conscious awareness of what my body was doing in that instant. (For context, I pole vaulted for 21 years)

The sound of the ball on the racket is much thicker than what I hear on my kick. I do seem to “frame” a lot. Consequently my kick doesn’t have much pace. Exactly how/where should the racket strings contact the ball?

He might be right eye dominant which would explain his problem seeing the ball on the forehand side especially in a closed stance forehand. Easy fix would be to keep an open or semi-open stance forehand.

His left arm is cartwheeling him too much, this momentum forces him to open him up and rotate his chest, his left arm should finish on the right side of his body to prevent this. He has clearly picked this up from his flat serve and brought it over to the kick serve.
