The movie starts right in the middle of the first conversation between Veronica and Seth, which does seem abrupt by usual storytelling standards. I would bet that the first 17 pages was just a lot of exposition to explain Seth's research grant, the dismissal of his ideas by his peers, and more framing of his character to show a timid and/or weak human before he goes through his transformation. If the story was a book, then it would make sense to spend more time on that introduction, but the movie trims all of the fat out of the script and we're left with a very tightly edited film.
The casting of Jeff Goldblum, with his slight quirky delivery was pure genius.
Masterpiece. In the top tier of horror movies ever made.
"Cheeseburger!"
Why does this have Play Station 2 graphics ?
Probably because it was filmed a long time ago?
What were in those first 17 pages that he threw away??
Probably just The Fly 1958

@morry040 this is a great theory. Thanks!!
Much as Cronenberg disdains mainstream filmmaking, he seems to do his best work when he works in that space.
What else do you consider to be his mainstream work. The Fly, History of Violence, and Eastern Promises are probably his most accessible films.
@ I’d also put “The Dead Zone” in that list. My favourite Cronenberg (in order)- The Fly, A History of Violence, Crash, Videodrome, The Dead Zone
what does he mean with (basicly its tree people in a room).. well its is only him and his girl vernoica so what does it mean
Lol, no. It's Seth, Veronica and Stathis (Ronnies former lover).
The movie plays like a closed room play for the most part.
Brundle. Veronica. Fly.
