A ganking, dark-magic spamming, lagswitching hacker. People like this don't even deserve to own Dark Souls. Just return the game to wherever you bought it from and go back to lagswitching in CoD.
Well, I've fought BonsaibaumxD multiple times and he isn't a PVPer he is more a PVE guy from what I know although he doesn't say no to be part of a ganksquad...
***** Dude thats what Pve guys does, they have no respect for pvp, Pve guys that doesn't understand why there is a sl meta go max level. easiest way to get souls is to kill forest invaders.
DarkHazard I don't think the type of media makes it any less different from anything else. I would be super annoyed if I was playing a sport and then the opposing person/team starting cheating to win too and got away with it. It's sorta similar to if you ran the 100m but your main competition is juiced on steroids and destroys you AND gets away with it. Cheating is still cheating regardless of the medium *shrugs*
DarkHazard normally I'd agree, but DarkSouls is so intense it can only be played competitive. by the time you can PvP, you already have gone through around say 1/3 of the game, and you need around NewGame+ to reach full potential. So, after you waste so much time, effort, blood, rage and tears; to build up your skill, and you are where you are, some cancer comes along and thinks it's either funny or he's worth anything if he beats players via hacking/lag switching. Normally I don't say this, but DS is by all means like a real life competitive sport.
I agree with you completely that its super intense and that all competitive video games is kind of like a sport. The case here is that there are cheaters that are using these cheats to win dishonestly. Using the sports comparison, imagine you're competing in a race. Its fine when everyone is running using their own accumulated skill, blood, rage and tears but then you get that one person who suddenly wins the whole race cause they used a car to win the race and gets away with it.
I kinda enjoy fighting lag switchers now, seeing one activating it basically means I'm winning the duel and he can't handle legit playing, I take it as a praise.
I really don't see the point of lag switches or cheating in DS. I know people say "it's because they suck." but even then I'd rather lose and have fun than be able to merk everyone with no challenge.
Some people just can't stand losing, like the shitlord lagswitcher in the video, they are filled with a pure rage at the prospect of losing to someone who is superior to them in every possible way because they have yet to and will never git gud. Or he's just a ruiner of fun, that would explained the ganking+lagswitch bullshit, but I'm leaning toward the first one, it seems pretty likely.
Gromnok Windwaker I'd think it's more painfully deep-stage small man syndrome, Where they were taunted for having a tiny phallus and can't take it anymore, thus they have to find a way to make themselves feel big again! i.e Cheating in dark souls.
well you could always try 1v1s in the burg, that's where the majority of honour fights occur, I usually like to invite a couple of friends for 1v1s in more obscure places. There is technically an arena in the DLC in which you can do "battles of stoicism" but it's pretty dead in there.
I played well over 1000 hours of DkSs and most PvP I did was in the forest... but I've never seen anything like this. I'd heard of switching, but damn...
Gled ShadowBroker It is because it requires you to mod your controller (on consoles at least, dunno with PC as i haven't researched on that) and due to the small size of at least the PS3 controller, if you make a small mistake while doing it your controller will stop functioning. It's easier with an xbox controller but still not something your average player just goes about doing :) so yeah it is rare because of that, the good thing (for them) is that it's technically not hacking so they can't get banned for it...
Christoffer Rasmussen Can't be banned for that? That is B - S! Wow, that really really sucks if that's the case, because it's just as good as hacking, if this video proves anything XD
Two friends and dark bead spamming aren't enough, they actually have to break the game as well to win. If they were dicking around with hacking for shiggles, they wouldn't bother with the friends. If they just wanted to join up with friends and gank people while still playing the actual game, they wouldn't hack. They apparently NEED the false reinforcement of "winning", and will take it at any cost. This is one of those occasions where how you play a game denounces your real-life character. Sad people.
only thing i completely disagree with is the dark bead spamming. anyone who says that... do you even dodge roll bro? like seriously. mages NEEDED it. cast spell, backstabbed, cast spell, backstabbed, dead. now its do you wanna take a shotgun blast to the face? no then play smart dodge roll and learn to stop phishing.
Hane24 well, if it was just the Dark bead spamming, or even the bead spamming with gankers, I wouldn't see too much of a problem with it. The lagswitching to even land it makes this sad as heck. I would also argue that good mages don't need to spam it, as I've seen mages pile on the crystal magic and destroy groups of phantoms with it. It's by no means easy, but very possible. Oroboro, if you read this, I think you won here. You single handedly demolished his phantoms in a matter of seconds not once, but twice, and would have destroyed him too if it weren't for the lagswitching. Bravo.
Leu Excedo Well besides hacking modding or what the fucker Oroboro was fighting in this video was doing lag switching anything goes in Dark Souls PVP besides those three things.I mean I can say a good swords man don't need to backstab to much or parry or good katana users don't need to spam bleed all the time good shield users don't need to block all the time and good shield users+spear users don't need to block and poke.I could say that but I wont because as I stated in the past and many other people have this is PVP as long as its no hack or mod no lag or save edit then you can do want in this game.
@Axel Andersson they're both curved swords... they have different movesets though, falchion doesn't have the spinning heavy attack and doesn't replace your kick
Say, did you know that Lag Switching isn't so much a box you can do to toggle your connection rate? It's more sinister... it's a focused low scale DDoS attack.
It's too bad the ending theme doesn't have a single moment that would fit as welll as Zanarkand. It'd be a welcome change for variety, even though it's great anyway.

I don't know entirely, but I believe it has got to do something with the receiving and sending data packages. welcome to dark souls 1 PVP, please, lags, Follow this guy on his journey in this "wonderful" PVP world, and present it to our masters, hevel mom and giant dad, to give them a lesson in how things work here.
Lag switching is basically temporary disconnects of connection to whoever you are connected to, to gain an advantage by being able to move without their ability to interfere.
Jack Woodward Well I would assume that you use a lagswitch by the way you are defending it. And if you even knew a little bit of the law you would know that lagswtiches are highly illegal and can end you up with a 10 year sentence in a federal prison. You should read up on law because you seem to be very ignorant about what you are doing and how it is linked to the law.
TacoBroNation TBN never said I was the law, I just said I knew the law. Dude, its the internet. you really think i'm gonna put effort into spelling on here.
In the Souls games, Dueling 1v1 without healing is generally the way to go. The instant someone starts healing or has a phantom ready, that's when the gloves come off. The devine blessing is a cheap item, let alone someone duping them specifically for pvp.
Was he really lag switching? Looking up that user (assuming profile names are PSN names and not character made names), the dude has literally only played this and one other game. But he lives in Japan. Huh.
Its quite obvious its a lag switch. And you can setup your profile to show up anywhere, Shakin. There are very obvious ways to trick regional indicators that MSN/Microsoft uses.
there actions are virtual and only affect peoples lives as far as one match goes in a game... what your doing would affect people being able to use the internet as a whole, not one little match in dark souls... u just seem bitter
if they can't use it properly they don't deserve to use it at all. It would be bitter of me if I stole their parents credit card numbers, and then I bought a shit ton of things with them.
lol its still pretty damn bitter, over a game, a few lag switches, so you go to the effort and trouble of blocking the entire internet... again, we're talking about afew matches on ONE game, a game, not real life... and you think this means they misuse the entire internet? as I said mate, your bitter over a loss on a game u couldn't deal with from the sounds of it... try cheering up and you might accept these things better
You're referring to the lag switching host with two phantoms right? I agree. It's like peeve always says to modders with infinite health, it's a shame they're afraid to die in a video game... Especially one where dying is the theme.
When I had looked this up a few years ago this is what I found. 1. You need a wired connection. 2. Cut the ethernet cable that goes from your modem to your xbox in half 3. Attach both ends of the ethernet cable to a light switch/button 4. click the button/light switch on and off really quickly
I have a couple modded saves that have everything, and I put down a summon sign or invade people and drop them useful items, like weapons, divine blessings, humanity and the like. That's the extent of my "Cheating" on Dark Souls, lol.
pattonkeith Humanity and SOME weapons I couldn't give a fuck about, a person getting a halberd or a dozen humanity isn't going to change anything but DBs? That's a little BS to me since you, by providing them with such an item are solicitting cheating which the player may or may not know is occuring. Also dropping people tail (Priscilla's, Obsidian, Moonlight and the Sactuary Guardian Tail weap),, boss (particularly the Cursed Greatsword of Arty, the Manus Catalyst or Greatlord Greatsword) or hidden/"hard to reach" weapons (like the scythe or Avelynn) is, well not unacceptable but at the same time such things should be earned/acquired legitimately on principle in my eyes..
SamboHaxor My stance on Mega Mule or weapon-dropping for PvP has always been pretty much constant. Most people who participate in PvP as much as yukaslegion, Oroboro, Peeve or DreadedCone have completed the game many times before. Having them cheat to get a legal build going purely for use in PvP is, imo perfectly fine. Creating a natural situation without having to either speedrun or outright complete the game is fine in my eyes. The comment above was aimed more at newer players who have perhaps not experience every part of the game or would perhaps use say, the Chaos Blade or Havel's Armour from very early on rather than finding or forging it themselves. Basically it would give them an unfair advantage against PvE whilst also stealing away any potential satisfaction had they obtained the same weapon independently whilst abiding to the rules of the game. Also: MOST (not all) people who use Mega Mule or that system you mentioned to create PvP bulids will likely run it straight up to SL120 and won't neccessarily do anything such as giving themselves Protectorate armour or dick about with their stats to make the Demon's Greataxe too powerful for the level of the player. So there are examples of "honourable usage" of such cheat systems for the sake of convenience. As long as an advantage isn't gained that wouldn't naturally occur, and as long as those kind of hackers have earned the right to hack (e.g. already earned Sunlight Spear, DMB+3, Dragon Head+3 etc. naturally), then I am okay with it. My concerns are with the player experiencing the game as it's meant to be experienced and avoiding artificially created advantage or disadvantage for players involved in PvP.
Seeing people Standby really brings me back to those tense Halo 2 multiplayer days when you would do anything to win to rank up, even manipulate the lag with your modem to get an easy victory. Lets hope it doesn't become as prevalent in Dark Souls.
What I mean is that he don't really have any rights to complain when he uses those three things as those three things are the most OP things in the whole game.
maybe.........but they aren't cheating. you can dodge most of the things you mentioned. you can't dodge lag switching. or at least you can't for too long.
Quick advice if you see a lag switcher. When they do it go for backstabs. You can see in the first clip how this works. Once they stop moving run and backstab as fast as possible.
The player preference is the best we've got. It decreases the chance of encountering them, but doesn't remove it completely. Unless reporting them does so, which I doubt.
It's a really weird set up. It's a light switch attached to a ethernet chord. Flick the switch and if you are host, the player stands still or runs in place, like fish in a barrel. I'm pretty sure household hacker made a video on it.
Depends if I use Havel's ring, though usually I have medium roll. Gold Hemmed Black hood, Black Iron leggings, Ornstein's armor and Wolf ring is the setup I use. Looks good, decent poise. Right hand has +8 Lightning Gargoyle's Halberd (Soon +15) and Ascended Pyro flame +5, left hand has Grass Crest shield and Black bow of Pharis. I wish I could fast roll all the time, but on the plus side the 2 handed R2 attack with the halberd punishes backstabbers.
A lag switch is a mechanism installed on a home network that allows you to insert delays into the flow of local traffic to the Internet. Lag switches are normally used by unscrupulous players wanting to cheat at online video games. In a game like dark souls, creating this lag is highly advantageous to the person being invaded due to client side lag compensation. If he hits you where you're still being shown on his screen due to lag. You will take the damage.
@sayhithenbye2 when you switch on "lag" so you don't have an effect but your foes and allies do basically attacking with impunity it's done by messing with your Internet pretty much
Solution: Don't go through Sen's while human. Clear the place, go to the bonfire on top, go human, then go summon Tarkus (which is the only reason to be human in Sen's anyway). The top of Sen's is easy, considering you can hear where the boulders are coming from and a decent shield will keep you safe from the archers.
A weapon that can be countered with parrying fairly easily with some timing, lagswitching can't be dodged, particularly when it's by a mage with crystal soul spear.
Yeah, I noticed that. Last time I checked the book of the guilty I saw that too. Probably one of the most important things in a game with multiplayer is some way to deal with it. It's always annoying encountering hackers knowing you can't do much about it short of introducing them to a lovely cliff (which the smarter ones avoid with a passion...)
Actually, there's an exploit that uses the jerky camera and facing while locked on to basically get free backstabs. However you can avoid this by not locking on.
You assumed that we mean "a Darkwraith covenant member" based your remark that we are confused. It's simply a layman's term for "Red Phantom". Who needs to utter one extra syllable if you can say"dark-wraith" faster than saying "red-phan-tom" every time? It's a lingo that tends to make people understand in different wavelengths.
Oroboro, since you seem to do a lot of the PVP in Dark Souls, can you recommend any ways to keep myself from dying when I get invaded? I'm relatively new and I'v already been ganked a few times.
A ganking, dark-magic spamming, lagswitching hacker. People like this don't even deserve to own Dark Souls. Just return the game to wherever you bought it from and go back to lagswitching in CoD.
They don't even deserve the platform they are playing on.
They don't even deserve the clothes they're wearing.
They don't deserve to live on earth, nay they don't deserve to live in this solar system
No hacks idiot he is just lag switching
Or they should just snap the disc in two and ram the sharp ends into their hands.
But let's talk about the two sunbros he ended up fucking up though lol

I saved up 100% on souls insurance by switching to darkmoon blade.
You gotta wonder how cheaters think. Do they really have such low self worth and life satisfaction to cheat in a video game against normal players?
DarkHazard I don't think the type of media makes it any less different from anything else. I would be super annoyed if I was playing a sport and then the opposing person/team starting cheating to win too and got away with it. It's sorta similar to if you ran the 100m but your main competition is juiced on steroids and destroys you AND gets away with it. Cheating is still cheating regardless of the medium *shrugs*
I hope you someone reports you and bans you acc, lil shit
DarkHazard
normally I'd agree, but DarkSouls is so intense it can only be played competitive.
by the time you can PvP, you already have gone through around say 1/3 of the game, and you need around NewGame+ to reach full potential.
DarkHazard like I said earlier, normally I'd agree. now play this game from start to finish and you'll get the idea.
I kinda enjoy fighting lag switchers now, seeing one activating it basically means I'm winning the duel and he can't handle legit playing, I take it as a praise.

ilove having normal good skilled pvp sword fights they should but an arena in this game with no help summons just pure pvp
well you could always try 1v1s in the burg, that's where the majority of honour fights occur, I usually like to invite a couple of friends for 1v1s in more obscure places.
There is technically an arena in the DLC in which you can do "battles of stoicism" but it's pretty dead in there.

Watched this like 8 times already. Brandon's reaction with the Will Smith track is just so hilarious! XD
That song is pretty popular among Dark Souls players it seems. I just wonder how many of you actually got to Zanarkand.
In FF10 you mean, yeah I completed the game and defeated the Omega weapon. (Doesn't matter what the genre is I play it if its good)
It's too bad the ending theme doesn't have a single moment that would fit as welll as Zanarkand. It'd be a welcome change for variety, even though it's great anyway.

Mrster Athair ar neamh - Enya, you can see it in the blue box in the lower right corner, at the start of the video.

My god, can't help watching this all over again each time i see the video in my youtube recomendations
the music timing is good
I knew I recognized it. Shame on me for having forgotten such a great piece of music.
Lag switching is so uncommon. The last time I had heard of it was in Halo 2 multiplayer.
Edit: Seems uncommon.
umm there was a lot of lag switchers on black ops 2
Cem Gunduz more on black ops 1
i just gave the more recent haha... but yea BOI lag swutchers were unreal
Lag switching is basically temporary disconnects of connection to whoever you are connected to, to gain an advantage by being able to move without their ability to interfere.
Gotta love lagswitches! Not only are they cheap as hell, but there also highly illegal! Isnt that good! What fun!

Its quite obvious its a lag switch. And you can setup your profile to show up anywhere, Shakin. There are very obvious ways to trick regional indicators that MSN/Microsoft uses.
A most well-reasoned and eloquent comeback.
Truly I've been proven wrong today.
This is the exact reason why I learned how to DDOS. Oh, you have a lag switch? Can't use it if you can't connect to your Internet for a few days.
+MonomaniacalNeedToKill that's even more salty than the hacking... get a grip.
They will learn that there are some people that you don't fuck with, and that there actions have consequences.
there actions are virtual and only affect peoples lives as far as one match goes in a game... what your doing would affect people being able to use the internet as a whole, not one little match in dark souls... u just seem bitter
if they can't use it properly they don't deserve to use it at all.
1:05 *uses divine blessing* OMG THIS GUY *licks the scraps of humanity from the floor*
why do people go out and buy notoriously hard games if their afraid of any fucking conflict?!
You're referring to the lag switching host with two phantoms right? I agree. It's like peeve always says to modders with infinite health, it's a shame they're afraid to die in a video game... Especially one where dying is the theme.
Solaire The Bae - Gaming Tutorials and Let's Plays thank you for speeking sense solaire
When I had looked this up a few years ago this is what I found.
1. You need a wired connection.
2. Cut the ethernet cable that goes from your modem to your xbox in half
3. Attach both ends of the ethernet cable to a light switch/button
4. click the button/light switch on and off really quickly
I have a couple modded saves that have everything, and I put down a summon sign or invade people and drop them useful items, like weapons, divine blessings, humanity and the like. That's the extent of my "Cheating" on Dark Souls, lol.
still cheating
Hey, the difference is, I use it to help people who don't automatically assume I'm hostile.
pattonkeith
Humanity and SOME weapons I couldn't give a fuck about, a person getting a halberd or a dozen humanity isn't going to change anything but DBs? That's a little BS to me since you, by providing them with such an item are solicitting cheating which the player may or may not know is occuring.
Also dropping people tail (Priscilla's, Obsidian, Moonlight and the Sactuary Guardian Tail weap),, boss (particularly the Cursed Greatsword of Arty, the Manus Catalyst or Greatlord Greatsword) or hidden/"hard to reach" weapons (like the scythe or Avelynn) is, well not unacceptable but at the same time such things should be earned/acquired legitimately on principle in my eyes..
TLB95Switchblade there was one youtuber who mentioned that somebody drops him stuff if he needs it for pvp, rather than using mega mule
SamboHaxor
My stance on Mega Mule or weapon-dropping for PvP has always been pretty much constant.
Man the ending gets me everytime. Can't stop laughing at his reaction when he dies. Fucking hilarious!!
I actually miss the days of lagswitchers and cheaters. It was SO entertaining.
It was so annoying as well lmao
I'm so glad you caught and uploaded this, now I know what that shit actually looks like
I laugh so hard at end :'D
Seeing people Standby really brings me back to those tense Halo 2 multiplayer days when you would do anything to win to rank up, even manipulate the lag with your modem to get an easy victory. Lets hope it doesn't become as prevalent in Dark Souls.
welcome to dark souls were more ppl cheat due to there inability to be good at a game
3:43 for the moment you've all been waiting for.
I hate this guys... 3 guys and than need Haks and Cheats ? Rly?
I think there are to bad for this game....
There are definitely hotspots (such as the forest!) which continue to be very active on the PS3, can't imagine why there would be any less on the 360.
Fuck this lag switching dude I hate that kind of people, just if you cant lose don't play video games,
No joke, this is the funniest dark souls video i have ever seen.
Complains about lagswitching when he uses Sunlight Blade, Darkmoon blade, and wrath of gods, fucking genius.
So you would compare those three spells to lag switching? i don't understand the logic.
What I mean is that he don't really have any rights to complain when he uses those three things as those three things are the most OP things in the whole game.
maybe.........but they aren't cheating. you can dodge most of the things you mentioned. you can't dodge lag switching. or at least you can't for too long.
So I guess Faith builds should be completely thrown out the window; that's basically all they have.
rulerofthesaints999 True and a good point.
lag can be effected by screen FPS, Ping, or bandwidth, which can all be altered at will, or use software to alter at will.
All that's missing is the "Well, what is it?" after you die and you'd have the perfect case of sad
This still one of my favorite vids GG Brandon
Quick advice if you see a lag switcher. When they do it go for backstabs. You can see in the first clip how this works. Once they stop moving run and backstab as fast as possible.
Legends say that he still ganks in Forest to this day.
sometimes my favorite part of Brandon's videos is hearing the frustration in his voice xD
Two summons, Dark magic, divine blessings and a lagswitch... It wouldn't surprise me if he's even in the casul scrublord covenant. :pp
Best video i've seen on Dark Souls, love the music queues. GGWP
3:45 truly a legendary catch phrase
How to get the Instant transmission Goku spell?
The Final Fantasy X sad music at the end makes this
It's been a while since I've seen this video so at first I thought it was going to be Brandon owning with his op build and then I remembered
The great hollow it happens to me every single time
@sayhithenbye2 when you switch on "lag" so you don't have an effect but your foes and allies do basically attacking with impunity it's done by messing with your Internet pretty much
Lol that "to zanarkan" at the end was icing.
Solution:
Don't go through Sen's while human. Clear the place, go to the bonfire on top, go human, then go summon Tarkus (which is the only reason to be human in Sen's anyway). The top of Sen's is easy, considering you can hear where the boulders are coming from and a decent shield will keep you safe from the archers.
The music for this is quite appropriate, I must say.
A weapon that can be countered with parrying fairly easily with some timing, lagswitching can't be dodged, particularly when it's by a mage with crystal soul spear.
Do you have any idea the amount of people who have dodged my pursuers by rolling backwards until they disappeared??
Yeah, I noticed that. Last time I checked the book of the guilty I saw that too. Probably one of the most important things in a game with multiplayer is some way to deal with it. It's always annoying encountering hackers knowing you can't do much about it short of introducing them to a lovely cliff (which the smarter ones avoid with a passion...)
Actually, there's an exploit that uses the jerky camera and facing while locked on to basically get free backstabs. However you can avoid this by not locking on.
3.14 Name of that music in the background? Not the Will Smith thing.
Totally lost my shit with the kill at the end. Picked up a few things from a few of your videos too. Hope to see some more!
Oroboro, since you seem to do a lot of the PVP in Dark Souls, can you recommend any ways to keep myself from dying when I get invaded? I'm relatively new and I'v already been ganked a few times.
I like the music he used for the lagswitching.
the ending of this video is too funny, the sad music makes it more funny lol
Yo, Oro! RenegadeCop here, saying thanks for the sig once again, and quite a humourous video!
i agree with next to all you say but when you buff a falchion it is the most broken weapon, 100% stun lock in light armor and 600-800 dmg a hit
theres a reason pokemon doesnt come packaged with an action replay. when you bought cod, they didnt give you a lagswitch, and an aimbot preinstalled.
