Mr. Sevilla, great video! Thank you, however, I'm a little confused about the solutions. You have 2 jugs of the Activator (yellow) and 1 jug of the One-Plate 1 EN solution (green) in the background but in the foreground you seem to have 1 cup of the activator, 1 cup of the "reducer", and 1 cup of the EN solution. What is the "reducer" solution? Is it just the same EN solution?
Unfortunately I have not been able to find room temperature Electroless Nickel solutions that are available to hobbyists. So in all of my videos the Solution is already preheated to close to boiling but it's losing temperature as time goes by, it's good for demonstration purposes, which most of my videos are for.
@@nicamarvin so, what my plan was, was to get the room temperature electroless copper kit from caswell to plate all my parts in. Then, the ones that need to be nickel, I was going to purchase the plug n plate wand kit in the nickel/black chrome and then plate using that, since there’s an existing layer of copper already on the part
Angel Gilding sells smaller concentrate. angelgilding.com/palladium-sensitizer-concentrate.html I have used their chemicals for more than a decade. But keep in mind that once you mix the palladium concentrate to use it, the shelf life of the mixture is short, You have about 24-48 hours to use it. While the one sold by Caswell Plating is already mixed and has aditives that keep it from going bad.
Mr Sevilla, that was a very helpful demonstration. Will this electroless nickel plating kit work on polyimide films as well?
I have not tested on such surface yet
🔥🔥🔥
Amazing results!! Did the coating ever peel or degrade over time?
Love the channel btw.
It was not thick enough to peel. But its nickel so its pretty durable

Its just Nickel Sulfate as a washing step. You can omit that and just us Distiled water.
Roger that. Thanks.
Is the final nickel solution heated? Or can you do at room temperature?

@@jacquescoury2979 The Copper layer is too thin. You need to build it thicker.
@@nicamarvin could use the Acid copper kit that caswell advertises to use after the electroless copper should you want a thicker layer in that case
@@jacquescoury2979 Correct.
is the nickel room temperature
No, for 3D prints I lower the temperature to 155(150 being the lowest and 160 the maximum)
Is that degress or celcius? And what temperature do you head for plastics?
I wish they sold the activator in smaller amounts.
