The Cedar Downs is a "Derby Racers" horse ride. It is one of only 3 in the world still left, the others are at Playland in New York and Blackpool Pleasure Beach in England.
Either that or a slow boat to Boneville. CB's "I love me some Boneville," 33 1/3, gave me giggles. Slow ride to Bonetown, everybody gather round! As a fan of slowed-down sound, may Jacob get his wish. Although I must say, a couple of those skeletons could do with some pants to cushion those bony knees while working on the railroad!
Jacob getting recognized by the actors always warms my heart. I laughed out loud at the commentary about that high swinging ride. I hate heights and somehow my husband convinced me to ride it years ago. I almost passed out. 😂
Cedar Downs is my favorite carousel ever. I remember back in the summer of 1990 when I went with my best friend in high school, we were betting quarters on which of our horses would win. And Jacob... you rode my horse! That's seriously the horse I always try to ride when I go on that ride! Amazing. Snake River looked pretty cool. Seemed kind of like a western version of the Jungle Cruise.
Great idea doing a slow-mo video going through Boneville. So many small touches in there that you miss going by fast. The skele-guy that was getting shot at had a kiss on his head. Cute touch that made me laugh out loud. I missed that the first time.

Boneville was my favorite when I was a kid-I was so happy to see it is still there! There used to be flames coming out of the windows at the firefighters display. Our yearly trip to Cedar Point was the highlight of our year-thanks so much, Jacob!

From Michigan and same. One of the few things that can get me into Ohio other than their much nicer roads. One of the most important conversations/disagreements Michiganders have is which rollercoaster is the best at the park.
I know there's a lot of debate on this, but my understanding is that a Carousel is nothing but horses and a Merry-Go-Round is all different types of animals.
Thank you for this video! I grew up going to Cedar Point every summer from Michigan then took my own kids there during their childhood. I can’t get there much anymore due to health issues so this was such a fun and nostalgic look at one of my favorite places ever!
I went here right after Millennium Force opened, I think the trip may have even been postponed until it opened. We waited well over 4 hours in line, much longer than any other ride I've been on, it was worth it but never again. Probably never go back but glad they're doing some themed rides. Love roller coasters but truly immersive rides / dark rides / hybrid coasters are the best. My life is boring so thanks for sharing your adventure blogs.
Always loved Cedar Downs! It's one of two remaining Derby Racers in the US (the other is at Rye Playland in NY) and it's the oldest and biggest. I go to Cedar Point for the coasters but Cedar Downs is always a must do when we visit.
This was the biggest park near me as a kid and was usually the summer destination of choice. Because my senior class did F.A for four years, my class only had enough money to go to Cedar Point. Yeah, those of us in Student Government were pissed, but it was still a really cool thing to do, in retrospect. My "friends" wandered off and left me for most of the day, but wandering the park on my own was kind of amazing. I LOVED seeing the racetrack. That was always my FAVORITE. I also have hilarious memories of my stepdad dragging me on the Snoopy Tilt-A-Whirl (we were both adults but he wanted to go), then screaming his head off, louder than the kids as it spun around. Awesome memories!
This was a total blast from my past. Our graduation trip in high school in 1975 was to :Cedar Point, n I really want to go again in my old age since seeing this video.Loved Bonneville, especially the slow ride through it!!!

The Cedar Down Racing Derby was sold to Cedar Point by Euclid Beach Park in 1965, before it closed for good. Its over 100 years old and still exciting to ride.
I love the concept and execution of Boneville! I also love how the slow-mo makes it just a touch creepier, but allows us to see the detail we'd miss if we went the normal train speed!
Carowinds is where one of the massive ones are at (Fury), the other being Canada's Wonderland (Leviathan). Sandirty does have one over 300' (I don't count Dragster which has been a maintenance nightmare since it opened is nothing more than a launch).
LOVE Cedar Point! I go there every weekend. So bummed to have missed you! I've also done theatre in the Northwest Ohio area with some of the actors on Snake River Expedition. Glad you had a great time!
I could tell they were from the theatre. I commented to my son they were great in their roles. I know they were having trouble finding employees this summer but, so glad they found some great locals.

Cedar Downs is cool! I've never seen a carousel like that! I love classic carousels, too -- the animals are beautiful. The carousel at Cedar Point is, of course, much like The King's Carousel in Fantasyland at Disneyland. I love 'em! :) Thanks for this excursion! My husband, myself, our girls and some friends went to Cedar Point years ago. We had a blast until a sudden rain storm came through. ((The forecast didn’t even remotely indicate rain so we didn’t pack our raincoats!). It came down hard and was a very cold rain!!! The worst part was that we weren’t allowed to go inside when it was raining!! We were completely drenched and freezing cold!!! I’m not sure why they wouldn’t let anyone in the stores but it very much ruined our trip. Haven’t been back since. Kind of sad because all of us really enjoyed the park until the rain!!
I liked seeing the different attractions at Cedar Point. You could have gone on one of the calmer roller coasters though. I'm glad you had a great time there.

I do remember an old article about the horses they used to have at Coney Island. Think a fires rushed through the old wooden structure for that ride. Some very cool photos out there of that ride too.
Cedar Downs came from Euclid Beach Park after it closed. It's a Prior & Church Derby Racer. There are two left in the US and one in the UK. If you are able to finally get to Playland Park in Rye, NY this summer, you'll be able to ride its P&C Derby Racer, built in 1928. It has beautiful horses hand-carved by Marcus Charles Illions, considered one of the world's greatest carousel carvers.
its really nice to see people take a stretch and warm up for their jobs like the johnny rockets out front.. as a culture we should have those moments normalized
I was hoping Jacob could get out of the arcade long enough to entertain us with a FAST roller coaster ride. Slow trains and carousels are great if your preteen.
I remember running and hiding in that arcade when I went there for my 8th grade field trip and a tornado almost touched down. I was scared to go back for a while lol I can't do those rides anymore except for the smooth ones like dragster because those coasters really hurt.
I miss Cedar Point.. I usually go there before Colossalcon, an anime convention, held at the nearby Kalahari Waterpark Resort. The Snake River Expedition is definitely a step-up from the old Dinosaur Island which i was able to see in 2018.
Wow Carpetbagger slow Boneville was Awesome! So much more detail! A spinning hat, the horses leg moves But there's a 'working' fireplace with flames in the house of the cheating skeletons!! That was an awesome idea to film it how you did, absolutely brilliant 💀👍😊

The sounds heard in the slo-mo video match the ambiance perfectly! Great idea! And the race horse carousel is the best carousel I’ve ever seen!
Nothing beats turning the bend on the causeway and seeing that rollercoaster vista.
The slow motion Boneville was great! The slowed down sounds actually made the scenes from Boneville made the scenes more spooky.
