This was great. You two put words to what I feel. There's ceremonial magic, chaos magic, self help practices, art, religion, wishing, and fantasy. Having studied a little of all of this myself, I gravitate towards what's simple, easy and practical. . . And then stick with stuff, be dedicated to a few simple things. Reading Mitch's books has helped me realize that what I've been doing, and what feels right to me is valid. ... and can work. And it has. Thanks!
Your discussion about there not being only one way of doing things and of existence of things is exactly why I absolutely love Mitch's books, articles, lectures & interviews. I've found, over time, that I don't fit into any one organized belief system. I believe that there's no way for any human being to know what existence is, if there is only one intelligent creator or not, and exactly what that creator or those creators want of us. What are the actual rules?--And not the ignorant bullshit guesses we humans make on a continual basis. So far, the foundational belief that I base my perspective of all life on is that only each individual entity/person truly knows what the larger energetic force/creator wants of it--even when they think they don't know and feel lost. I know this from experience. Very broad and it keeps me from making too many assumptions, especially about myself. It's gotten to where I'm happy to find out when I'm wrong--I look forward to it! Or does it happen because I'm expecting it? Sheesh! I don't know. And I like not-knowing with people like you and Mitch. Thank you for showing me I'm not alone on Earth--mentally anyway.
It is so much fun to listen to discussions between you two. It is like watching two wise ones revert to their youth and giggle their way through conversions that hold real intellectual value. It's awesome! Great energy.
Chet I *really* dug your take about how it seems to you that artists don't really feel the need to partake in things like rituals from recipes, group gatherings & traditional practices, etc because artists are *already* practicing their own form of craft. You said it better than I'm paraphrasing here. I purchased Mitch's *Uncertain Places* recently, dug it a lot, and am glad I found your conversation here. Keep 'em coming:)

Mitch Horowitz's stuff lately has been absolutely forcing me to get my shit together. And literally this SAME stuff with friends and betrayal has just happened to me as well. It sucks, but ultimately it's the universe removing what you no longer need.
"...forcing me to get my shit together". Yes! Mitch's books inspire me to do the work. He makes it all so approachable and simple. All the best to you on your journey. 🌌🌈🌞
I missed the first part of the podcast today. Sorry to hear about your friend turning into a turdburger. Don't let their actions jade you in anyway. I've had my fair share of so called "friends" and I would be a total recluse if really let those moments in time dig into my mind.
I think you’d dig Freddy Silva’s work. He was a graphic designer who got into writing about crop circles, ancient sites, pre-flood civilizations, etc. i recommend starting off with his book Lost Art of Resurrection. Much of what he talks about resonates with me and makes sense. It becomes an almost clear narrative. Early pagan to early Christian. Mistranslations of things. It’s fascinating.
99 percent of a person is good, but we focus on the 1 percent when when they lack good. In a assertive (not aggressive) way tell them the hurt they caused.
Hey everybody! You can order Mitch's new book "Modern Occultism" here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B69JSJTX?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_XDW95HHM1VYN5KHWQHAG
I think this is my favorite Mitch interview. ⭐
Thank you!

Right on! I think "trust your gut" regarding spiritual practices especially is a great approach.

Late to the party, but just wanted to say this was a killer interview, Chet. Love your podcast!
Hey thanks so much! I have some more Mitch interviews here as well!
Someone please make a Mitch bobble head! Please! The Muse told me in 2020 that I am to witness as well. So wow, yeah. Let’s do our best!
Great episode
Thanks!

Great show. Not to be too mean or anything but I have found that ceremonial magic requires more effort than art.
