I love all the mama and Eunice sketches! Betty white is brilliant on these episodes and on The Golden Girls! I wish they made more tv like mama +Eunice and the golden girls 💕💕💕💕

The only time Ellen made an appearance on the syndicated run. I am guessing Betty's commitment to THE GOLDEN GIRLS prevented her from appearing more. I may be spoiled from watching Betty play a sweet character on THE GOLDEN GIRLS, but I never much liked the conceited Ellen on here.
No Eunice either. Carol Burnett was mad at Vicki Lawrence for doing the syndicated Mamas Family because it was produced by Carol's ex husband, Joe Hamilton. That's why Carol never appeared as Eunice on the syndicated Mamas Family.
Stephen Short Really? Well the syndicated years were GREAT without Eunice. I mean, Carol Burnett was good at the character, but it would get stale after awhile with her continuing bickering. At least Mama and Naomi had moments of niceness in the syndicated years.
My guess has always been that the show reached out to Betty White and she agreed to come back for one final appearance to put a bow on her and Thelma's relationship. The syndicated version was so tightly centered on the main characters that even a character as familiar as Ellen almost seemed out of place and everybody involved probably knew this was the last time Ellen would appear, even though she was mentioned for the rest of the series. This is one of my favorite syndicated episodes because it's pretty much the final substantial connection between the old and new versions. I always wished the syndicated years would have done more to incorporate more of the NBC version, including Buzz and Sonya returning occasionally.
Amen. Awful makeup. Unless Ellen was supposed to be at death's door. And to the best of my recollection, a "fanny tuck" doesn't qualify as a life-saving procedure.

The look on Thelmas face when ellen tells her the type of surgery she's having priceless lol

Betty White totally cracks me up in this episode.

Sad she passed away

Loved the way mama face looked when..Ellen said Fanny tuck.....ah what."..a fanny tuck"🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂
Iola was always able to crochet something up relevant to the plot. A saline bag cover. ROFL
I lost it @ 2:38 with Mama’s facial expression 🤣🤣🤣
R.I.P. Betty White. Hilarious clip.
Vickie's face was priceless lmbo
How did they do this without breaking character? 😂😂 True professionals. "I'm having a fanny tuck!" I lose it every time.
I love Thelmas reaction, that look and when she says a what😂😂😂😂
“............a wut?” When mama uses that tone, ur goose is cooked! Lmao!
you know how Ellen wanted to be the first in line for everything? Well now she's bringing up the rear!
How Mama is 30 years younger than her daughter lol 😂
Betty was twice Mamma's age in reality ..great acting 👍💞
The sound is soon bad I can hardly understand what they say 💔🥺

I agree with her! Iola was too much! Thelma was the only sane one in a house for of dumb asses!
"I'm getting a fanny tuck!!!"
I feel like that was the "I'm gay!" thing in the Harper family. XD!
There was also that episode where Iola suggested to Thelma that Bubba wore women's lingerie when they found a black bra in his bed.
@@thomasfranche6770 I remember that! And Thelma's comment that Bubba was too buff for that bra and he'd need at least a D cup XD
Betty white older than momma (Vicky Lawrence) right here but she playing the hell out that role as Ellen
Well she is older

How the hell Vicki keep from breaking up ?

All that makeup on Betty was to make her look younger I assume.

Why is it so hard to find cleat episodes with Betty white, sister ellen?
Nobody dresses like before surgery

Butt surgery might be popular and more common today but in the 70's it was not only uncommon but unheard of.
No. It wasn't.
This episode actually ran in the mid-'80s

Nicki Minaj a nutshell
Betty is really pretty, but her makeup is ALL wrong! Waaaay too light and too much!
I think that was right for the character of Ellen; a small-town ageing Belle who refuses to go quietly into that good night.
It suited Ellen well, though. She was always trying to be bigger and better than what she really was.
Betty white seems to keep this bedridden hospital thing a lot throughout her career, didn’t she?

Not bad casting. On the contrary, it's called GOOD ACTING... actors that are capable of playing characters outside of their actual ages.
