    I always took the “pick up your aunt” as being more about her safety and not walking home alone while it’s dark after her shift. Ben’s more upset about it than May is because it’s his job to protect her as her husband and he thought Pete would take that responsibility as seriously as he does. But when he doesn’t is when he’s really set off. To me it made sense that May wouldn’t be too upset because it’s not really a huge deal, she probably wouldn’t have gotten mugged/attacked on the walk back so it’s fuss over nothing. But it’s the principle of it, the fact he told Ben he understood and would get it done and didn’t. He wasn’t responsible

    Ultimate comics
    Peter: well if my father knew so much then where is he (runs away)
    Tasm: that's great so where is he where is he where's my dad
    These movies take some inspiration from the ultimate comics such as this conversation about his father abd responsibility

      They also partially adapt Ben's speech from the Ultimate comics, as he says "You father had a philosophy that he geld to pretty strongly. And it's one that served him very, very well." It's not a one-to-one adaptation, but neither were the MCU movies releasing at the same time, which were based on the same universe of comics.

    I agree with you that Amazing Spider-Man 1 was kinda good. It was a little rough and would've benefitted from keeping a number of deleted scenes, but it was a promising start.
    Amazing Spider-Man 2, though, is four of the most disjointed movies I've ever seen.

      Tasm one has a lot of scenes deleted but TASM 2 felt more disjointed since it have more scenes that was cut and things that got changed. Like Mary Jane has scenes in the movie and the time where Peter quit as Spider man was supposed to be much longer.

    It subtlety shows how pete knew connor was in the sewer. He sees a trail of lizards coming out of the sewer and his spider sense goes off after he tries to warn captain stacy of connors being the lizard. I loved the first ASM. I know this film up and down. I rewatched The Amazing Spider-Man movies a few months back and genuinely fell in love with the first one all over again there are so many things i love about it that simply just aren't quiet there in the tom holland movies and are completely missed in the Tobey Maguire movies such as the character writing costume design and acting, even the music like you said in the video was just so beautiful and felt so inspirational and powerful.
    The second movie however, i have to agree with you it was just bad not even as a Spider-Man movie but just as a movie in general it had so many moments that were amazing, like Gwen's death. That will scene will always break my heart to watch, but then the villain and the when it comes to the tone and vibe of the movie, and the kinda unnecessary parts with Peter's fathers history. The movie simply took on too much and i wish the team had more time to refine it and make it right because it had so much potential and the director and the cast all deserved to finish the story that they were telling about Peter's family, if only Sony had not butted in and tried to throw in more than the story needed.

    Uncle ben didnt mind his business in the raimi films either. In the SM3 Flashback he tried to talk Flint marko out of stealing his car at gun point instead of him just letting flint take it. The mugger bumps into flint and the gun goes off on Uncle Ben. Uncle ben doesn't know when to mind his business in any verse.😂

    • @MadDogSolo
      @MadDogSolo 2 місяці тому +2

      Got a point there, only thing is that got added in 2 movies after he already died.

    • @NadahzNoir
      @NadahzNoir 2 місяці тому +10

      @MadDogSolo the overall theme is uncle been either aggressively or passively intrudes on Peter's life. Pete is guilt ridden by Ben's final words, especially in the raimi movies. In Amazing he understands he was rough on peter but gives him words of encouragement on the recording. In the raimi movies, Uncle Ben tries to intrude on Peter's whereabouts and tries to give him unwarrented advice. Follows him around after pete said he wanted space and got himself shot. Uncle Ben just can't mind his business. So Peter is guilt ridden because of Uncle Bens self-righteousness that got his ass shot and sends his surrogate son on a suicidal holy mission out of guilt. Pete doesn't actually want to be spider-man until the 3rd film, and it's still for the wrong reasons. He's got clout and the girl he always wanted. In amazing spider-man, he learns why he's spider-man thru the captain stacy argument during the dinner scene and the self-actualization after saving the kid on the bridge. It feels like Andrew's Spider-Man truly understands why he's spider-man over any film adaption.

    i mean uncle ben as a character, no matter the iteration, would nearly *never* mind his business, given that’s HIS responsibility, the same one he sees fit for peter to follow. also the point of the milk scene goes exactly with the same idea that the og had, where even if the cashier asking is silly, it’s not him who gets to peter- it’s peter himself. he absolutely, in any scenario, could have and should have stopped the guy robbing the store, even if the cashier was a dick. but because peter ignored ben’s advice and acted selfishly, he lost his life over a measly two cents. that’s the entire point, to show how peter’s rebellion and petty actions at that point, even over milk, even over something so minuscule, could destroy him, given the fact that he didn’t accept the necessary responsibility he should have.

    edit: 53:40 time out cuz i see this complaint a lot. OSCORP is not just an agency for medicinal science it's a military weapons manufacturer so in the grand scheme of things, it makes sense for them to have the rhino suit- basically OSCORP is to the spider-man universes (minus MCU) what Stark Industries is to the MCU

      Yeah I'm aware of that. I was just saying my initial comment as a little joke. I know the spider man movies didn't have nearly as much budget as infinity war and endgame so therefore shorter run times. Plus the fact Sony was a bit iffy with Andrew at the time is why I choose to think of it as a little f- you to him. Still could've been great if they kept at least some of the deleted scenes in so some things would make more sense. Connors comes off as one dimensional, Peter tailing him into the sewers doesn't make as much sense, and Harry goes from weepy to one dimensional killer man without some of those scenes

    If the common consensus is the game is bad, it probably isn't. In fact they usually tend to be quite great. Especially the 2005-2012 period, if you hear a game being called bad in that era it's such a green flag, it literally has the opposite effect, games end up being mega fun.

    I always liked the TASM films, the first is my favourite just because I really like Lizard and Denis Leary is fantastic as Gwen's father and the darker tone worked for me. The sequel is a fun watch, Garfield's costume is the best live action suit in my opinion, the romance was believable and it left me wanting more after Gwen's tragic death.

    12:15 i meaaan, peter is suddenly overwhelmed with heightened senses on top of spider sense and an enhanced metabolism
    On top of that the train scenes editing was done to depict his spider sense as a reaction of his body.

    There were definitely some odd choices in regards to the script, specially with the villains (I'm looking at you, Goblin), but these two movies have heart. The endings to both movies still make me tear up to this day. The first one with Ben's voicemail to Peter talking about how Peter has the potential to do great things for the world, and the second one with Peter finding the inner strength to continue being Spider-Man after the tragic loss of the love of his life. These movies were something else. I just wish that Sony's greedy ass didn't interfere with Marc Webb's vision, otherwise we could've gotten a Spidey trilogy superior to Sam Raimi's.

    I wish they had brought Paul Giamatti in as Rhino again in the multiverse movie
    Maybe eventually they’ll do more with Garfield and have him show up
    Could be cool if an accident led to him getting combined with the machine

    the first amazing spider man is a nice popcorn film, all around solid, I’d give it a 7/10. The second, however, is seriously a disaster. Way too much happening, Spider-Man is too goofy and frequent with his jokes for my liking, all the villains are ass, Gwen died for no reason (could’ve just left like he warned her), etc… don’t even know what id rate AS2, but I know it’s by FAR the weakest of all spider man movies ever created.

    Uncle ben getting upset over Peter is because of safety reasons like he said May had to walk 12 blocks at night alone when Peter was supposed to be there with her. This why he brings up responsibility

    Also Ben’s responsibility line is longer because they’re trying to not do the same thing as tobey, comics etc.

    13:40 yeah it’s not bad writing you just didn’t pay attention 😂😂. After peter forgets to pick up may, Uncle Ben says “ May had to walk all alone back home” obviously implying that it’s dangerous for her to be out without someone else( self explanatory). So yeah, Peter has to “pick her up” because anyone who’d want to do anything to may would see Peter was there. Gives her a sense of protection.

    2:07 to be fair to him, he struggled a lot with the accent in Doctor Who with Daleks in Manhattan.
    Also, he's not the only one who struggled with an Americanized accent. Mark Sheppard struggled a lot in The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon.
    Accents are hard to maintain especially if you're not used to using them and I imagine that could also result in overexaggerating an accent.
    Another case I'd argue is Tara Strong's Harley Quinn accent. It's only slightly higher pitched than Arleen Sorkin's but it's noticeable
    I'm not an expert in any of this tbh
