@@onisuryaman408 There's an old SF story about population going up and up and someone asking what happens if there are no more souls when someone is born - and then it happens some babies are born living, but without any real will to live. I think of this when I see the vacant stare in the eyes of people in so many AI images. Even scarier though is, we really are on the other side of the uncanny valley with still images in a technical sense, and more and more often we just won't be able to tell. Other than the flaws that low quantity/quality of input, or lack of reasoning, produce.
As an artist I'd add that another reason to not use AI is that it uses art created by artists without their permission or the artist receiving any sort of remuneration.
Let's point out that the only reason "Just use AI" is the default is because of corporate propaganda, I really feel like trust in and willingness to present AI generated work as something one made themselves is a litmus test for one's intelligence and how gullible they are to have the wool pulled over their eyes in the brave new world dystopia that's come upon us.

Very glad on your decision with ai art! I’m seeing far too many videos on UA-cam and other platforms just using nonsensical ai images to depict history. While I really like the old style, I think the new format’s perfect for having more in depth content, and it’s nice to listen to while I’m at work and not necessarily looking at the screen the whole time.
completely understandable. the "old" style was very clearly super complex and detailed and while i also kinda miss it for the constant beautiful visuals it's no wonder it took so much work to make just one video, let alone dozens. let's all just salute your cpu for taking so much abuse at the hands of after effects and coming out on top
I prefer this style. The important thing is the wonderful research and the way you lay it out. This style does come across more professional, the colours and cohesive style really work, and I find it personally more engaging. I also ran into the issue of not having good visual sources to show on screen which is solved by simply showing yourself on screen. I can only imagine how much more difficult that was when working with Islamic history due a it having even less visual depictions of people. Also After Effects is the worst, truly a black hole that sucks in all time available.
Great explanation, thanks! I have a few items of feedback on when you’re on camera: 1. Try to sit further back. Currently it feels a bit too overbearing, and we can’t see your hand gestures. A lot of tech reviewers do a great job in this 2. Clean up the background. Seeing white monitors is really unpleasant 3. Try using multiple camera angles for variety 4. The camera feels blurry. Either the focus is wrong, or it’s too dim These small changes will really enhance the video!
Your decision to shift to a cleaner, more minimalistic style makes perfect sense-it’s not just about aesthetics, but also improving the depth and accuracy of the content. I also appreciate how you acknowledged AI’s limits. The idea that images created by machines could lack the historical context that brings them to life adds a philosophical layer to the conversation. Your thoughtfulness about representation vs. random convenience really elevates your work.
7:28 para-gliders were my thought. And hey, haven't been here often after 2022. History slided under today again. I wow to return. Glad to see you thrive!
I like your arguments against using AI generated images, especially the fact that real paintings can become historical artifacts themselves which is not true for AI generated stuff.
Love what you have been doing, love that you are improving your quality and styling. And thank you for having the integrity to admit your shortcomings and overcome them. Excellent channel! ❤
Your decision makes perfect sense! I LOVE the care and effort you're putting into this. I might even go as far to say I like the new style better, especially knowing that it is more accurate!
The content is more important than visual Do what you feel easy and satisfying to you The important thing don't abandon your channel Keep up the good work 😊👍
Thank you for your honesty and work in improving your channel. You’re one of the few UA-camrs I watch all the content of. And that too as soon as it comes out. I would say, try sitting a bit further away from the camera.
This is my first time heard of Factrio. And considering how addictive it can be judging from your words alone, it might be for the best for me to not touch it. So thank you!

You have one of the best history channels on UA-cam and your maps are better than most! Would love to see you do an episode on the history of orientalist art/literature and its relationship with the Islamic world (The 19th c. Spanish painting got me thinking)
It absolutely makes sense. I also toggle between being on camera more and going for more B roll and sometimes there just isn't much for some periods and figures, then you get desperate and use something related which feels wrong. The old style was nice and for a while I wanted to emulate it, until I realised how much time it would take, but this style suits you too.
i like both styles. It doesnt have to be fancy or snazzy, as long as its meaningful content. A good example is blogging theology, basic setup and superb content
I really enjoy both styles and completely understand the change. I likely wouldn’t have stuck around if you had gone down the AI path so I appreciate your sentiment on it as well
Glad you've decided against AI images, a lot of channels are using them now and I know why (as you said, it's very expensive to pay people to make custom art) and I find the style very off-putting and they take crazy energy to make inaccurate images. Especially since you're a history channel (a very good one!) and people might think they were more accurate depictions than they really are.
Just pointing out, the English CC (but not your voice) uses the word "Mongoloid" which is often considered a derogatory term for Asians. Might want to fix. Keep up the great videos! The new format is great too. You explain history well which is what really matters.
@9:13 Babur and Humayun are spot on depictions. Zafar looks spot on as well. Also, Akbar looks very similar to how he was described by chroniclers. If you look at the actual real photographs of Zafar (the two I know that exist)…he clearly looks like an elderly southeast Asian man then he does South Asian which clearly implies the central Asian where quite dominant.
Yoooo when are we gonna see the part 2s for all the part 1s you made!! And also please make a video on the Safavids. Big fan of yours and keep up the good work
Reasonable changes Love the old style, but now that you mention how long it took to render (among other issues), I can see why you pivoted At some point, hopefully the channel makes you enough money so that you can get a dedicated video rendering computer (and then you can return to Factorio on the other one -- or doing historical research)
you could maybe take a look at different synopsis and storyboard softwares just to get an idea or an overview of your projects based on the possibilities of these softwares. AI based art is not bad either if you have a clear idea of what you want.
Quite kismet that you put something like this out, because I'm trying to incorporate more live action shots (i.e. my actual face) into my own channel for a variety of reasons, including to mitigate the time spent hunting down even vaguely related historical depictions (which sadly are increasingly AI generated) to fill out the visual element of the video. Also copyright claims are the scourge of movie UA-cam essays. It's a bit more effort - especially when you're sharing a one bedroom apartment with somone on a different sleep schedule - but it's gonna streamline the editing process and give my channel a more distinct identity
Thank you for explaining the process behind your videos. Quick feedback. Towards the end I found the background music was starting to compete with your voice making it hard to hear your speech.
That wasn't meant to be. I'm not sure what happened. I think UA-cam maybe tried to amplify the audio or maybe the software I'm using did. Something happened that I didn't realize till a few hours after it was up.
AI is good for some things, but bad for most. It does not have reasoning. Image generators with reasoning agents and feedback loops, although slower, could help you.
Thank you for this explanation! I figured it’d be something along those lines, but never knew exactly why you once(?) used an image of the Danish army receiving from God in Heaven (or so the story goes and that image shows) what became, and still is, Dannebrog, our national flag and the original Nordic Cross flag. Legend has it that this happened during a 1219 battle against the “Heathens“ in Tallinn, Estonia. A battle that the Danes were losing until this event miraculously turned things around. So yeah, while I get that the painting in question might just look like any old medieval battle scene to most people around the world, to anyone having grown up in Denmark, and possibly the other Nordic countries too, depictions of that particular battle are instantly recognisable as not very relevant to the topic of your video 😅
I think you can use picture just to illustrate even it depicts somthing else just come close but dont let the „getting close“ take too much time or energy!
Thanks to dodgy fonts, I misread the title of this video. I thought it was about Ibn Khaldun’s book, AL Mq. But it turns out that the word I read as “AL” was actually A. I.
No, it was AL. AL as in the name of this channel, AL MUQADDIMAH. The book is also called AL MUQADDIMAH but that one doesn't have to change (but I might do a Marxist analysis of it some day).
