I can imagine this being a thing if it was used in a movie where a charismatic politician starts using the original song to rally support from the people and then the movie plays this version in the background once the dream has been corrupted and the charismatic politician is now a proper authoritarian dictator

Also, I don't live in the US, and my gut tells me you made that comment thinking I was, or at least assuming my news context was centered or adjacent to the US, although I could be wrong. Don't get me wrong, things aren't sunny and great here either, but there's a lot less to feel pessimistic about around my neighborhood, if you will, and I'm also just fundamentally optimistic, too

Very interesting. As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I thought of what this could sound like and I have my piano right behind me so I started tinkering and I came away with something that was more or less a mashup of Numb by Linkin Park with Don't Stop Believin in minor. Your version seems to be a bit more melodic than mine would have been, more classically themed, like something Muse would probably come up with lol. Music is AWESOME!!! 😊
