Stata commands and options for performing subgroup analyses (Sept 2021)

  • This presentation shows you various options for carrying out subgroup analyses using Stata. I use 2 general examples: (a) generating descriptive statistics for a single variable (mastery goals) (b) performing a linear regression (where achievement is regressed onto mastery goals and performance goals). I demonstrate how to generate subgroup output using the 'if' command and also by using 'bysort'. Later in the video I demonstrate how to create subgroups from a numeric variable (using the 'generate' and 'replace' commands) and then using it in conjunction with 'bysort'.
