Thank you for doing a proper detailed investigation. Alfa still have a fair bit of work to do on this and it is a shame that only 33 will be produced. This car is very elegant but I'm really surprised that no one ever mentions who designed the original car. Thank you Franco Scaglione.
Hi Ped Back in the 60’s I fell out of love with my new MGB roadster, it spent more time with the dealer than on the road. However I then bought an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider from a very very attractive young lady. I fell in love with that car, superb twin cam engine, excellent gearbox, and great handling. And of course it looked gorgeous and had SOUL. Time marched on but the 33, whilst beyond my financial means, and all sold, still retains the dna and soul of Alfa Romeo.🍷🍷🍷🍷
Peter…the new one is, to my eyes, better than the original. I will never own one of course but if I could, I would by it in an instant. Sadly none will ever be driven…just hidden in Far Eastern collections…even Tim can’t get this. I just hoe somebody at BMW takes 20 minutes to simple look at it. Lastly……you need to write out 100 lines…..” I must not say BEAUTIFUL for the next six months!”😀😀😀😀😀😀
So I counted 40 "beautifuls" and it struck me you might be aiming for 33! What a car, poetry in motion and poetry just standing there. Italian design genius. ❤️❤️
Now this is a treat. One of my favorite automotive UA-camrs getting to talk about a car I lust after. I love Alfa Romeos. I hope they stick to just the 33 cars. And not do like many other brands and then make the same number of convertibles/spiders. Hope to one day just see one of these. The original is just amazing. Wonder if the few owners of the Tipo 33 Stradale was invited to buy this new one. Cause they only made 18. And 6 were given to Bertone, Zagato, Pininfarina, Italdesign to see what they could do with them. And some are in the Alfa Romeo museum.
@@PetrolPed Yeah. The only person I can think of is Lawrence Auriana. A famous Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati collector. And maybe Ralph Lauren, he has a few rare Alfas as well.
Thanks Pete for showing us this beauty. I'm an AR admirer and after seeing what AR can still design and produce one thought comes to mind: they have to stop with SUVs and make small, affordable sporty cars.
Kudos to you for getting the invite to give an overview of this stunning Alfa, what an honour ! Really enjoyable watch for me personally, one of your best videos so far 👍
Really enjoyed that - all the details and close ups and talking with the designer. I was very unsure about the design but your look around pointed out all the details that make it special.
Pete that is a absolute gorgeous stunning car it’s a shame that all 33 will probably never get driven on the open road but be put in owners garage collection never to see the light of day again.
What unbelievable attention to design details! They even resisted the temptation to nail on an extra tablet computer in the middle of the dash! Bravo! I suppose the science of aerodynamics in the wind tunnel dictated that...pocket(?)...divot(?)...in the otherwise lovely headlamp clusters. Were this car built for me, I'd want a totally smooth headlamp without the distraction of that oddity on there. The recent Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione's headlamp clusters are more un-fussy and elegant. THAT car was heavenly... My favourite angle from which to view this car, therefore, is the rear three-quarters. Perfection. The interior is also sublime. I want them to let you have a go in this car, so you can tell us more about it. If you haven't already, I hope you have a go in an original 33. It would be amazing to see one of those 33 buyers of this car specify a battery-electric version on offer. This car is an EVENT! Aloha!
Some quick answers to your points raised 👍 There is a tablet/screen that will appear from under the dashboard. The socket under the headlamps is fundamental to the aero and keeping the car stable at speed. Finally in believe that 20% of the lucky owners are opting to battery electric 👍
@@PetrolPed Mahalo for your kind reply. Yes...I had a feeling that socket under the headlamps was an essential part of the aerodynamics. We're long past the age of "If it looks right, it'll fly right." Hey...a screen that can be put away when we don't want it? Excellent! Let's have more of that. I'd be a happy owner, then. I'm gobsmacked that such a high percentage of owners took the electric option. There's hope after all! Aloha.
As an Alfisti myself (Misano Blue Stelvio Quadrifoglio), oh boy what’s sensuous slinky drop dead gorgeous design the 33 Stradale is! Like you, can’t wait to see one at an Alfa show in the future.
Great video with a lot of information. The 33 Stradale, the old one and the new one, are stunning. There are two brands able to create timeless cars with a better design: Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. If you compare with any other car brands, the uniqueness of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari is obvious.
I very much enjoyed this video it does a great job of putting across the beauty and engineering of this car, I have owned seven Alfas and I am so glad that they are building cars like this.
There is a reason the only car channel I subscribe to is Petrol Ped. Master job sir on this review. Beyond beautiful, absolutely stunning. Work of gorgeous art. Again, felt like I was there. Little things like you not touching the car reflects your love of automobile. Did you say the 620 horses on....full chat ?! Haha I’m going to use that. What a car. I hope you get to drive it one Petrol.....cheers from Canada 🇨🇦👍 I needed a tissue to wipe my eye after this.
I thought nothing could be more beautiful than the 33 Tipo. They have done it, it is stunning. The thing I find makes it look nicer is the wheels and tyres being closer in size on the new car. The only thing I think doesn’t look right on the Tipo is the big difference in wheel size. I am sure people will disagree but that’s my taste, or lack if it!
Alfa Romeo is the most beautiful design car on the planet .It is the only vehicle that has the lowest co efficient drag in the world ,i am talking since i got into these cars .ALFA ROMEO,s are CARS you dont just buy ,you FIRST FALL IN LOVE WITH THEN YOU BUY ,IT IS THE MOST ELEGANT OF ALL CARS
What a beauty, great looking, athletic, powerful and well proportioned, the Roma ain’t bad either 😂, seriously, what a stunning looking car, a kind of elongated F~Type/ Aston. I followed one in our F type and was shocked how wide and long the Roma is. Thanks for reviewing that stunning hotel to, it’s been put on our list. So pleased you have a wonderful weekend.
WoW mate, just WoW! While original is my preference, the rear of the new one so far beyond epic! Those rear lights look like fully powered up space rocket engines! OMG! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
The rear lights on the 33 Stradale when turned on look like Afterburners on a Jet Fighter, just Wow! PP do you know how much the 1960's Tipo is worth? I agree PP, both cars are absolutely Beautiful 👍 💞
Tipo 33 are extremely rare (just 18 made) and buying and selling is private so the exact quotation is unknown but it's thought to be around 15 million euros.
Oh, you learn something new everyday. I remember seeing "a" blue 33 Stradale on Instagram and thinking "photoshop blunder"... I guess it must have been a real thing 😮! Pray nobody chooses it though.
A truly beautiful car ! Thanks Ped for that 20 minute walk around. Hopefully, as you suggested, Alfa will produce a smaller, higher quantity ‘spirit of 33’ type off-shoot akin to the 4C compared to the 8C…
Oh my days! What a beautiful car! VERY brave decision to "modernise" the 33 but, oh boy, have they pulled it off! Thanks, Pete. Lovely walk-round/chat.
Sorry did someone say beautiful? …. That is a stunning, head-turning, take your breath away, elegant, gloriously magnificent piece of art 🤩…… now where did I put that lottery ticket! 🎫
Agree Rob, unfortunately, from my experience many years ago of the absolutely appalling attitude from my local dealer of who should and shouldn’t own an Alfa means I don’t think that will ever be the case for me. Shame.
Utterly stunning Italian design at its peak .Unfortunately with only 33 to be made and £1.7 million unlikely witness on the road will be put into collection maybe Alfa can put design into an affordable version?
Wo Wo Wo!! Looks stunning on my PC screen. We have to be thankful that car companies build these amazing cars for the future generation to look back on. But why remove the heart and drop in a battery power. The Italian government should put a block on it!!
An absolute delight -what a thing , a pure work of ART! 33 reasons why i cannot buy this car, there all sold ?, er and i am more than £33 quid £333 k in any denomination short of list !
I bet you wish you could have driven it. That has to be the most beautiful car I think I have ever seen. It is not my favourite reinvention of a classic, that is still reserved for the Defender but then I am a huge JLR fan. It looks like a bit Ferrari like and if you had no thumb nail on your video and it had a Ferrari badge it would not have surprised me but it almost feels to me that with an Alfa badge it seems to give it more heritage. The rear view is the view that does it for me with the back lights that when lit I am sure will look like the afterburners on a fighter jet. Stunning car plain and simple.
If there are 33 lights in the headlamp cluster I reckon they missed a trick to make each one unique - why didn’t they make the light conforming to the build number in red or yellow? Then anyone in the know would be able to immediately tell which build number that car is. A unique selling point I reckon.
Agree on advanced auto design peaking in the 1960’s. Engineering, materials, and manufacturing methods had progressed to where complex shapes and lighter structures were possible; lack of safety and environmental regulations meant less restrictions on the imaginations of designers. Contemporary vehicles are objectively better, but generally not as beautiful.

Hmm, great video Ped. Both are great looking cars except for the headlights. They don’t quite work on either car to my eyes. Are they a bit too big?
They incorporate ‘aero sockets’ a bit like the McLaren 720 which makes them a bit bigger 👍
This is unattainable to me but I’m glad I have a 4C. 8C, 4C, and whatever is next after the new 33 stradale, they are all works of art. A centerfold.
Stunning car - dread to think what it costs, every true petrol head has to have owned at least one Alfa. Great vid as always Pete.

Surely it's a tipo 33, not a 33 tipo?
Rarely have I been attracted by Alfa, but the shape on this really does tick the boxes for me. 👍🇬🇧
Take it please 👍
Solo Alfa!
I couldnt see any pads on the back for the pushers to put their hands on.
Harsh 😳

How many times did you say beautiful??? 😂😂😂😂 not that you’re wrong it is genuinely beautiful ❤
