Just another old guy (68) rider here on SS. Nice to see a real up front honest rider site. I’m also in western North Carolina.

We're not old. 🙄😂. I'm always looking for folks to ride with and might be in that area in late April

Always happy to have the right paced (lazy, slow, camping) riders with me. I'll be leaving northern California in July now

I admire what your doing and thinking of doing the same, just waiting till the kids get out college. I researched and purchased a used dr650, love it. Watching your adventures give me a valuable insight in the life of solo motorcycle travel and I appreciate all your advice. Be safe and keep filming your journey, we’ll be watching.😊

I am now retired and have been a street rider for may decades but decided it was time to add a more versatile machine to the stable and ened up with a 2020 DR which I am prepping for summer 2024. I did the Dempster last year in my pickup but I am thinking of doing it with the DR this summer. In order to stealth camp though I have to sort out about getting a mini cpap machine I can recharge while riding. I live in BC Canada so may see you some time on your way through to the north country. Kind regards.

Let me know where you are. I'm riding up in July this year to go up the Dalton this time. If your cpap can charge off the bike you're golden. It's an amazing trip

It was hard to leave the Himalayan and I wish i could do this idyllic journey with no cities or freeways that pushed speed. But, it's true.. The DR is better suited to my needs now. I hope to bring a lot more thoughts soon

DR is a good choice. I keep my eyes peeled for a DR or an XR/XL. I have an Africa Twin and it’s a 2018 with less electronics than the new ones but still more than I need. I’ll have my old 650 some day.

I hope you find the one you want. Sometimes it seems we've lost sight of what matters for a lot of bells and whistles. Just the aspect of what I'd rather pick up is huge. Keep in touch and let me know if I'm in your area. I love riding with people

I recently bought a Himalayan and haven't got to ride it yet (snowbound) the roads in my country are 90% smaller roads with a 90kmph speed limit so I'm happy with my choice, but I understand you decision to sell yours, I'm intrigued by your story and look forward to your future posts.... I also had a 650 v Strom and toured some of Europe on it and loved it👍. Harry
