My band opened for Jeff in Halifax in the early 90's. I was so blown away by his ownership of the fretboard that I started practicing guitar blindfolded :) RIP Jeff
I am a huge fan of Jeff's! I did not know he had passed away until now. I have to say, other than Stevie Ray Vaughn, I have never seen a more soulful white boy blues guitarist than Jeff! The boy made you feel his songs and that is why he was such a rare talent to me. An amazing guitar player and singer. I will miss him and his music. I will continue to discover more of his music and always be a fan of his and the blues. R.I.P. my brother!
Jeff was one of the greatest guitarists to ever live. His guitar playing was revolutionary in the fact that he played it across his lap and used his thumb to play combined chords that would simply blow the roof off of any venue he played. Listen to his song "See the light" and you wil TOTALLY hear his gift. Rest in peace Jeff, you definitely left your impression in the blown minds and ears of an entire generation.
I agree Jeff was brilliant I read he had Cancer that sadly.made him blind. I knew a woman who played piano like a professional and yet she was Blind it must be they have selective hearing. I have on DVD the movie which Jeff Healy was in the film alongside the wonderful Patrick Swayze may they both rest in peace 🙏❤️❤️
Jeff Healey was one of the most underrated artists ever! I loved The Jeff Healey Band! Thanks for sharing your story of Jeff with us Scott....Thanks for taking us to his final resting place. 💛 I was and still am amazed at his version of "Angel" by Jimi Hendrix.
I'll never forget the summer of 89 when angel eyes came out. That summer I was 15 years old almost 16 and it was the first time I ever fell in love. It was real love and I couldn't get enough of it. This song reminds me of her and that time. She died in 2015 and we were still friends. She was irreplaceable
I’m so sorry for your loss. That’s so hard… It’s astonishing how a song can transport us back to places and people, specific times in our lives. I’ve been listening to the ‘See The Light’ album today and just heard ‘Angel Eyes’ right before seeing your comment! At least we will always have the music. Be blessed. 🌹
I saw him at Ontario Place’s Forum. It’s was crazy because he got up from his chair and knocked over a glass of water and shorted out the stage. Everyone laughed and 25 minutes later he knocked our socks off for 3 hours.
@@peacefrog64 he was blind at 1 from cancer in the eye's. He underwent lung cancer surgery just a couple of months before he passed. He also had tumors removed in his legs prior. A lifelong struggle with cancers. I've seen him and his family many times at his bar in Toronto and concerts. One of a kind, humble gentleman. RIP Buddy. ✝️❤️ He's buried at ParkLawn Cemetery Section Y, Plot 555
I remember when he was on several news shows on CBC and Much music. He released “See The Light” before Roadhouse because I bought the album/tape before the movie was out, I was hooked. Here was a a guy that was blind, played the guitar like a piano and hit notes that a regular guitar player can’t hit. Jeff made “Roadhouse Blues” by the Doors popular in the Roadhouse movie. That guy could really play something special. I call him “ the blind Hendrix”.
Love Jeff Healey. I had 3 or 4 blues vinyls that I found in charity shops. No blues collection is complete without this gent. It was a sad day when he passed for the music fans. I was too young and in the wrong country to have ever seen or met him or his band. Thank you for showing us his resting place. May his spirit live on.
Good man I love road House I know the feeling I lost my left eye of cancer in 2018 Scott cancer sucks I go back next month to see my cancer doctor he die to young thanks Scott I really love y work
Jeff is, without a drought, my Favourite Musician. Really regret never getting to his bar in T.O. considering I was from that area. But saw him life and up close enough to briefly talk, at the Back Alley Bar in Calgary years ago. Ironically a large fight/brawl broke out there that night, not as notable as Roadhouse but... Too cool.
Went to high school with Jeff Healey at Etobicoke Collegiate institute in the 80s. He had a huge bunch of students around him all the time. Nice kid. I used to play ball hockey when I was a kid in that park inside the tennis court located off Park Lawn. Of course back then it wasn't called Jeff Healey park. I used to like it because it was secluded on a dead end.
I really felt bad when Jeff Healey passed. The guy was blind most of his life and didn't even get to live a full life in lieu of. But he left us some great rock n' roll! RIP Jeff.
Wow beautiful.. Gosh, I remember seeing Jeff Healey at impromptu concert he put on at a bar in Ottawa called Barrymores. Not there any more but to this day, it was the best concert I have ever seen.. You got lost in his music and he played for hours, he loved the music. At the end of the concert he mingled with the audience and he gave me a guitar pick, which I still have:) HE was so underrated.
Hey, side note to you. Thanks for sharing with everyone how much talent in the world comes from Canada, talented musicians, singers, phenomenal actors/actresses and comedians. Much respect to our northern neighbors!
I don’t know how I missed it. But it was a great video. Just look at who played on his second album as guest. Even George Harrison showed up and played on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”!
I was so fortunate to catch many of his early club shows in Vancouver and meet him and his band several times. He was selling his See The Light singles at the first show I went to. I remember him telling me about the Roadhouse part and he was so excited about it. Very nice, very humble guy. Only to years younger than myself Still very sad that we lost him. I have never seen his grave. This video really stirred a lot of emotions in me.
Hi. I’m new to your channel. Jeff Healey brought me here. I’m in love with his music, especially his ‘See The Light’ album. Thank you so much for going out to the grave and the park I never knew about. Jeff was truly one of a kind and it breaks my heart to know that I’ll never get to meet him. Sadly, he passed away the same year my father passed away, both from cancer… My father died just 3 months after Jeff. I’ll forever be grateful to the movie ‘Roadhouse’ because that’s how I discovered Jeff. It’s still such a great film all these years later, so is the soundtrack, but Jeff Healey and the music really made that movie great, aside from the great cast, the mood of the film and all the great martial arts performances of course. I never knew that Jeff played with B.B. King! I had the privilege of seeing B.B. King perform at the Doheny Jazz & Blues Festival at Doheny Beach here in California and he was brilliant! I’ll never forget him coming to the stage in an all-leather American flag jacket. I’d pay good money to go back in time and see Jeff Healey and B.B. King perform together. How magnificent that would be. Thanks again for this! I liked and subscribed. 🌹
Awww Thanks so much Scott....I was so lucky to see him live here in Brisbane Australia.....around 1996- 1998....a long time ago anyway! It was right up there as one of the best concerts I ever saw! Rest in love Jeff and thanks for your music that will live on forever 💛💛💛💛
I' m from Italy , 46 old , a long time fan of Jeff Healey , from the very first time ( i was just 14 ) and i never have seen this video . So sad and beautiful at the same time . Thank You for posting . Maybe , someday , i would like to come back in Canada and go to Toronto . Last time , i just visited Montreal and Quebec City . But , every single thing that i saw , it' s here , in my heart and in my soul . And , Always Here , with me , the amazing music of him . Happy New Year to You all and greetings from Italy !
Regardless of any struggles or disadvantages Jeff may have had, he selflessly gave his gift of music to the world. Not to say that he saw them as 'struggles'... he seemed to effortlessly wade through life, always with laughter and a smile. Guy's a legend of Blues guitar. Maybe you have to be blind, to get guitar tone, like that... that extremely 'fine tuned' ear was a gift, to us! Thanks for the vid. I imagined hearing a teenage Jeff Healey playing guitar, as you walked in his neighbourhood. ❤
I think he played like he absolutely HAD to, from his soul as most blues artists do. It's what makes the music so very good. You just want to tilt your head back and close your eyes and let it soak in. Yes, Roadhouse was and still is a guilty pkeasure, who wouldn't love Swayze and Elliot accompanied by the blues? It never pretended to be an Oscar contender but it was a simple movie with good guy winning against bad guy. Hope Jeff is resting in peace picturing joining in with the greats that went before him.
A lot of people, actually MOST people have no idea how great a trumpet player he was. I mixed monitors for Jeff Healey and the Jazz Wizards for a bunch of shows. Great musician, and an even nicer guy.
I remember seeing Jeff Healey for the 1st time in roadhouse, I've never seen anything like it for a blind person to play a guitar the unique way he did. Absolutely fantastic loving guy, I miss him lots.

Hi Scott, how cool that you got to hear him live! I saw Roadhouse when it came out, but didn't know who he was. Really enjoyed getting to know him through your video.
Thanks Steve! Good to hear from you. I just re-watched Roadhouse last week, it’s surprising how well it holds up. A really fun, cool action movie. And Jeff is phenomenal in it. Hope you are well! See you soon.
Hi Scott, Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this, Jeff was so incredibly talented who never let been blind prevent him for doing what his dream was,we can all learn from him, interesting that there was just over 12 months between both Jeff and Patrick passing away, regards Karl from Ireland

Jeff was so young. Only 41. That is so sad. Great guitarist. Loved his music.
It was amazing how he played the guitar, miss him and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

He couldn't see us but he knew we loved him
I fell in love with Jeff Healey when I heard his version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It's remarkable. Such a loss.
I saw him at Ontario Place’s Forum. It’s was crazy because he got up from his chair and knocked over a glass of water and shorted out the stage. Everyone laughed and 25 minutes later he knocked our socks off for 3 hours.
Such beautiful souls who will never be forgotten. Patrick Swayze and Jeff are both performing the best concerts together in them great big sky’s.
One of my favorite guitarist on the planet and I know Canada is very proud of this guitar genius.
Canada 🇨🇦
Still cry till this day .. Jeff and SRV are so missed till this day .May they always RIP

Thank you for this; I have loved Jeff Healy for decades. His music was amazing!
What type of cancer did Jeff die of?

How about the Canadian Hendrix? He’s not less of a person because he’s blind, but received less exposure because he is Canadian.
Love Jeff R.I.P. thxx for the music ❤️

Thanks for showing his grave
Such great music and incredible guitarist . Rip 🎸
