I know Rick said he wouldn't stress about making Walker dye his hair black, but I really, REALLY hope Walker takes it upon himself to due his hair. I don't care about green eyes, I just want the hair. Even a dark brown would work. Ik it's a small detail but idk it's just important to me lmao
I hope so too. This series really goes into depth about each character’s physical traits because it is a visual representation of their god parent. Most book adaptations I don’t really care much how the actor looks, but this series I do a lot.
I hope he does too. The reason their appearance is important is because it shows their relation to their godly parent. Percy has blank hair and green eyes just like Poseidon. I don't care so much about him wearing contacts but I hope he dyes his hair black.
Honestly I love the actor they picked for Percy Jackson. I am sure that the show will be way better then the movies and just a good show in general . Well also it isn’t they hard to beat the movies- Edit: I just saw the casting for Annabeth and Grover.. all I can say is… yes
I agree. I'm baffled that people say that Logan Lerman was the right choice for Percy but chosen at the wrong time is a pretty bad excuse for me. He didn't give what we needed from Percy as performances go and in my opinion, it felt like he didn't care in the second movie, but I digress. I have HUGE faith in this TV series and I hope that Percy Jackson comes into the conversation of the popular adaptations like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games
This series is an opportunity to improve some aspects of the books. For example, the other campers. Introducing the campers who later become relevant early on will give us more time to get to know them better, like Beckendorf and Silena, two very important characters in the last two books who previously barely made an appearance.
@@nyahnyahson523 Will appears in the fifth Book. He is the one of the Apollo-Campers on the Bridge and is the one who heals Annabeth wound. But I dont remember him being important bevor that. He kinda only really shows up after Michaels Yews death.

I hope he saw the massive support for this casting because he deserves all the happiness rn. The pressure must be intense. @Nonya Bus Girl you really think Rick won't demanm for him changing his hair and him wearing contacts. Also Walker shares his personality with Percy, he is Percy in a different body.
@Nonya Bus As rick riordan say a few days ago: “For me founding the right actors has never been about hair color, race, eyes color, or any other physical trait, even if they were described a certain way in the books” so, if THE autor thinks walker is perfect for percy why do you care so much about hair color lmao
This could lead book to film adaptations into a new era. I've always thought that movies couldn't do books justice due to the vast length difference. So giving Percy Jackson a show makes me happy even though I haven't read all the books in forever
I think the same! Although I'm always wary of book to live-action adaptations I'm also always excited for them too, lol. So many great books that could work as tv shows yet we're constantly getting soulless remakes that just piss people off and aren't even good as standalone movies.
yes!! i watched the harry potter movies after reading the books, and a lot of the little storylines/details were left out. It was a good movie series in general, but a tv series could have done way more justice!
I’m over the moon for this series! I can finally get the feeling that the Harry Potter fans did when the movies first came out. (Side note . I love Harry Potter too, but I was a baby when the first movie came out, I didn’t get the same hit as the book fans)
I am literally so excited for this project to hit our screens next year. My hope is that they get through all 5 seasons, then expand into the heroes of Olympus series as well for another 5 seasons. I haven't read trials of Apollo yet (I have them, just haven't gotten around to reading them yet) but I'm sure it's as good as the other 2 series, and hope they produce that series as well.

I'm honestly not a fan of adaptations, they all promise to show exciting worlds but never live up to the expectations that we've built up from the books. Having said that, this project gives me hope. Having RR there, and a cast and crew full of people that know the source material and genuinely like it, gives me hope that this will do justice to RR's amazing series.
Random side note: Having read the percy jackson books when I was younger better prepared me to understand all the characters in Hades when I played through last year! I'm excited we will get another try with this series. I was always sad that both Percy Jackson and Avatar: the last airbender were treated so badly on the big screen, but at least there seems to be redemption with this tv series for percy!
If this show succeeds, then hopefully we’ll get to see more authors be involved in screen productions as riordan is. Tbh this is probably perfect timing for me. I’m gon graduate soon, but I remember in elementary school I read that series 4 times over the course of elementary school and even more in middle school. I can’t wait till this show comes out. Walker Scobell gives me such amazing Percy vibes. This is going to be an amazing series and such a good adaptation to the books we grew up with. Thanks Uncle Rick and everyone else working on the project.
Despite being a bad adaptation, I always liked the first movie. It's what introduced me to Rick Riordan's books and mythology in general, and I saw it all the time when I was a kid.
Me too tbh, I watched the movie before I read the books, but even after I still appreciate the movie for what it was. I'm never really one to hate book to movie adaptations that don't do exactly what was in the books, I think they still made a decent film just different from the books (though I can't really say the same for the second movie). I feel the same way about The City of Bones movie that was released in 2013? I loved the movie, it wasn't completely accurate to the books but still followed the same general storyline and the casting for Jace specifically was unreal they could not have found anyone better. Them using lines directly from the book as well made me love it even more. So honestly I'm super excited to see the new tv series but I still appreciate the movie for what it was when dissasociating it from the book series.
@Konstantinos Kafarakis I watched it after reading the books and don't consider it a bad movie. It is a horrible interpretation, but still works as a standalone movie. Don't even talk to me about hte second one though.

Watching him read so voraciously and hearing how excited he talks about what he read that day, was something I didn't think I would get to see him experience. My 11 year old loves to read and it's thanks to Rick and Percy.
I am soo hyped for this show coming on. Since Rick will be involved a lot in the series, there is no way it could go wrong. I hope to see it soon. They cast a good actor to play percy jackson. I'll be honest. I didn't know of the book series until after I saw the two films. I'll admit that I thought the first one had potential, but even I can say the second one was quite a downer. It was after that I finally heard of the Percy Jackson book series and started reading it. I've been a big fan ever since and I keep reading those books over and over. I love them.

I don’t get Immediate Percy vibes from him but as long as they dye his hair I’m sure he’ll be good from what I’ve heard about him. I saw on Rick Riordans page that he said he doesn’t care what the actors look like as long as they have the “personality” which I was like…. They better make them look right. I’m excited yet nervous and I hope they don’t mess up!
Well Rick has a point, it’s more about having the personality of the characters than necessarily the looks. You want to pick actors for talent and skill in portraying the character, not just be a physical model.

Edit: I just saw the casting for Annabeth and Grover.. all I can say is… yes

It shouldn't be hard to make something better than the movies. The question is: will it be good and not just better than the movies?

This series is an opportunity to improve some aspects of the books.
For example, the other campers. Introducing the campers who later become relevant early on will give us more time to get to know them better, like Beckendorf and Silena, two very important characters in the last two books who previously barely made an appearance.

@@reneleanor9231 Yeah. Will straight up had no appearance in the original series as far as I'm aware, it's kinda insane.

I'm literally still screaming over this PERFECT casting. I've been obsessed with Walker ever since The Adam Project but I never thought we'd be lucky enough to actually get him as Percy!

Loved the heroes of olympus. Made us really grow up with them. And for the first time not only reading from Percy's perspective.
@@reneleanor9231 so true. I thought heroes of Olympus was even better because of the new characters and the stakes seemed way higher in that series as well with Gaia

Walker looks atleast kinda similar to Percy and pretty much just has to wear a dark wig or dye his hair dark.
The actress of Annabeth on the other hand looks literally nothing like Annabeth (described as typical California girl with blond hair and grey eyes)
Even if she would dye her hair blond and get grey contacts it still wouldn’t look like Annabeth is supposed to look like. She should be clearly white.

@@wayne9048 if youre upset about her skin color, thats plain racism, its obvious. if she was a white girl with dark hair no one would be complaining. but since shes black, people are upset. she can easily dye her hair or put in contacts. being upset about skin color is racist. rick picked the cast himself, he knows what hes doing. hes talked about racism against leah many times. just be happy we even got a show.

I’m hype !!!
Same. at first I thought the movie wasn't bad at all. But after I read the books, I was so annoyed.

I'm really excited for my son the see this. Reading is hard for him, he has a hard time focusing. But the Percy Jackson series caught him and he finished the series in 3 months. Yes, I'm bragging.
P,ease do Artemis fowl book series..i have been asking forever :(
I was really hoping it would be an animated TV show, just because of certain parts in the books would look amazing animated. But nonetheless I am very excited to see the books get a proper adaptation
You're telling me Riordan himself was toured through the place where the mandalorian was filmed and where Kenobi is being filmed for inspiration and learning what he can for the effects and stuff...this is going to be a hell of a show
I’m beyond excited for this! The PJ-books are my favorite book series and I can’t wait!
That being said…
Protect those children at all cost!!! I swear, if anyone is even trying to bully or harras them…
I just noticed that when Walker got the announcement that he was casted for the part as Percy he is wearing a half blood T-shirt and it's orange
I think the series really is going to be great, although I do slightly wish it wasn't live action. I think animation would work better because of how much more can be done in animation. Still super hyped though, been a percy Jackson fan for years.

Yes. I'm totally stoked for this. I'm super happy Rick is writing it because when Disney did the movie Holes, with Shia Labeouf, the author, Louis Sachar, wrote the screenplay which is why it was so good and faithful

@@CaptainPikeachu I agree I just personally think it’s half and half. Like if it’s possible for them to dye their hair then they should it’s pretty simple. Don’t get me wrong I definitely agree they need to have the right personality!
