Absolutely brilliant and nicely observed! 😂😂 Thanks Jess for this lovely diversion! And to think some people would criticize Dudley Simpson for supposedly having music that sounds the same!!!! I still very enjoy Norman Kay's music though, another important part in the sheer atmosphere of the early series!
I REALLY wish you could do his stories! I've been analyzing them very closely and it seems that he created five or six pieces of music for each serial, and then edited them to fit the scenes. If one could recreate those pieces of music, one could easily get the music for the whole serial. Since you have perfect pitch and I don't, I hope you'd give it a try.
Hi Jeffrey, it is a possible quest for me to undertake... FYI the director placed the tracks, not the composer; the composer often was not at the recording to make such adjustments. Thanks for watching!
Not really. Very similar though. You're hearing the composer's musical idiosyncrasies at work. In this case, a descending "scotch snap". A lot of composers (most actually) use it at some point. The great Hollywood composer Alex North used it extensively and powerfully. It's a rhythmic device that composers dress with their own harmonic/melodic/orchestrational language. Kay lent on it HARD that's for sure! 😀

Been working on fan edits for Unearthly Child and The Sensorites for a minute now. That shit is ingrained in my soul probably
Now you point it out! Brilliant.
Ha! I was waiting for your eloquent analysis but it sort of analysed itself! 🤣
It kinda did. 😊
Thanks for the video, Jess! I must tour your latest Simpson interpretations soon! 🙂
That you should! Heheh

Cheers, Richard!
Brilliant, just brilliant.
Dead. 🤣
lol well it’s important to have a strong recognizable motif!
His theme for Out Of The Unknown is exactly the same.😂

I almost included that in this video...
