Hello Joe I have a question about the 2 channels. You said the tent video was going to be on the Northern Seclusion channel. But it's a tent video. When Zach was fishing he said that you told him he couldn't put the video on the tent because he was not at the tent correct? . You put a tent video on Northern Seclusion channel. I'm confused just trying to follow the videos on the correct channels.
how does your canvas roof hold up against all that snow? I use a support post in my tent and then clear off the snow in January. haha.
My dogs love fluffy toys with a squeaky and lots of that white cottony stuff inside. Hear a squeak and bow wow...they have to find it. At first it was a white cotton lawn filled nightmare...but...now...in a hot South African summer, I roll my eyes and pretend it's snow ❄ 😮. Your dad and your family have a beautiful place to go to for a break. It's so cool when Melissa joins you. It makes an awesome video more awesome cos it's so relaxing to watch. I think I was just as excited as you were at the last part of your drive, to see the tent. Glad every thing is fine there. You got some work at dad's place. Well, we made it through the long winter and now we get to visit the tent and the summer season. What a great place to get away from the chaos of the world right now. I would want to stay there.

I'm jealous, Joe ! Not only because of the The Tent, that place is awesome ! Jealous b/c of the plastic W-Mart bags ! I live in NYS, and all plastic bags have been outlawed for a couple of years now !! Not only at Wally's but any store !! Have to bring your own bags for shopping. Although Cracker Barrell still uses them for take out food. Used to use them for trash and what not. My precious stash of them is dwindling !! Best wishes to you and Melissa, and the whole family ! 🙂

Such a difference from when the snow and ice, lake froze over, when came that way. Had wondered if had gloves to wear when cutting and handling 😂the trees, just in case. Nice birds, had saw you feed on another vid also,think last year.

Hey Joe! As always, love the video. Ever thought of an electric chainsaw for small stuff like that on the road? My dad and I both have the Dewalt electric chainsaw and it’s perfect for clearing a trail quickly. More powerful than you think!
I have so many gas chainsaws that adding an electric one seems like it would just be another saw on the shelf. Maybe someday but for now my smaller gas ones work well.
Another video at the tent, I opened a beer and had a seat just like I would if I was on the porch. Joe is in his happy place visiting with friends.

Here in Virginia everything is late fish going on the spawn and cold snaps pushing them off the beds. Really unusual weather patterns have plagued us at the Lake where I live for past three or four years. Gardens are late. I guess it is definitely a cycle though I don't believe it is caused by us.
When do you plan on putting a new dock in and replacing it with new boards for your boat ??
I am not sure, it is not on the list yet.
I enjoy the tent vids but I am really going to enjoy watching you demolish that mobile home at the house this summer
I doubt that will happen this summer. I have way too much on my plate already to take that project on this year. This year I want to get other things finished up and Melissa and I want to do more camping with the campers.

You make a nice picture Joe, sitting out front of the tent, feeding the birds. If you had a grand child or two playing and helping feed the birds, that would probably be a good way to retire.

Grew up in michigan..I use large red daredevil for pike..more pike caught on this than any other lure
They work great but they are weed magnets and this lake gets very weedy eventually.
Joe, with what you currently have there, how long do you think that food supply would last with what's just in the tent? Subtract any fishing, hunting, etc.
Couple of months I suppose. I have a lot of rice and beans in the back. It would be a very boring menu but you would still be alive.

Joe what is the name of the weather station you have? Love that part of the tent videos. Going up next week to open our place on Vermilion.
The one at the tent is an Ambient Weather "Osprey" the one at the house is an Ambient Weather "ws2000." Both work awesome. We really want to bring the fish house camper up to Vermillion this summer. I have never fished that lake. I also want to trap crayfish in it because I know it is infested and we want to eat them. Lol.

Question... how far from your home is the Tent? My wife and I dream of having a little place to escape to but as yet can't agree on how close it needs to be in order to get sufficient use out of it. Any other tips would be welcome as well!

I can make it in just under 3 hours. anything that is 2 to 3 hours away is very doable. It was 4.5 when I lived in down by the cities and it was doable because you have to get away from the people and there is a driving price to pay to do that but it was a long drive. Especially coming home. Going there you are excited and it does not matter. Lol. I do not want to be somewhere where I am constantly seeing people. I can stay home and go into town and see that. Some people love going "up north" and being around the other "up north" people, they live for that. Melissa and I are both introverts so it is nice to go up and have nothing. When we go to a campground we expect people and that is fun but we do not want that at "the cabin." Most people think 2 hours is the cut off for having a place away from home and that is why pretty much anywhere that is 2 hours away has lots of people. Decide what type of people you are and go from there. Driving an extra hour to be secluded is well worth it for us.

Seeing you have power in the tent, have you ever thought about hard wiring the pump for the shower?
We are actually looking at doing a hot water on demand system. When I put the shower system in originally I did not have power to the tent.

Yes. I keep a 2 pound supply of "snacks" for them on the top shelf in the back storage area. Having the mouse poison sticks up there really helps with keeping them controlled.
Can you tell the history of your family up at the tent ? Also do you own the ground or is this all rented area's?
I own that property. We have had property on that side of the lake since 1980.
