This is the coaster that made me an enthusiast! I'll never forget the very first time I rode it. I was 9, and the Spongebob episode "Roller Cowards" was just released, so it gave me the courage to take on my first extreme coaster! Great White will always have a place in my heart.
The thing that suprised me the most was the pacing. I rode Great White this past summer, and the last time I'd ridden it was like 6 or 7 years ago, so I went in with no expectations. And as soon as the drop hit and the train was going through the layout, I was shocked how fast this ride was running, it felt out of control.
The final turnaround was retracted for this year and is now the smoothest part of the ride. I think they increased the banking of it a little bit too and the trains take it with noticeably more speed than they used to. I got about 7 rides on Great White yesterday and it’s running as well as I ever remember. Hose two valleys you mentioned are really the only bumpy parts but even so they’re not bad. The coaster is very rerideable. I enjoyed my front row rides but I think the back is my favorite. All in all this is a fun coaster with some of the best views you’ll find anywhere. Riding at night gives you spectacular views of the other piers when you’re climbing the lift hill and have a little time to look around.
Just got to ride this during the Coastin' by the Ocean event, and this is REALLY the time to ride the Great White. No lines, it's late at night so the ride's warmed up and riding at max speed, and best of all, it's with all the lights turned off! The tunnel is pitch black, and the whole ride on the beach with only the moon's glow on the water is just fantastic. Rode it again the next day in the sunlight and it was barely the same ride lol! The last half hour of ERT I just sat in the second last row, never having to leave my seat since no one was in line. It really elevated the experience of this fun ride into a GREAT one!
Great White was my first CCI, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. The ride's location is unbeatable and one of the highlights of the ride (aside from the 3/4 mile stroll to get from Surfside Pier to the ride).
Another amazing review! I have yet to ride it but besides the setting I think the first tunnel looks like the best part of the ride… had no idea the laterals on this ride were this good? Will you be ranking your favorite wooden roller coasters this year?
Mainly known for its views, they put this in a fantastic spot where the lift hill gives fantastic views of the ocean. The ride itself isn't the most intense but it has a perfect placement and excellent night rides.
That operation is what Knott's was doing with Jaguar last week, sending one train out empty all day. It never had a line, so I wonder if they're just not able to transfer a train off the track.
Morey's actually did the skip a train thing to us last year on the final rides of the night. We wanted a front seat ride and back seat ride. We could have rode 4 times or so had we not waited, or they had not skipped the trains. And I'm almost certain that the tunnel didn't have lights on when we went.
@@CanobieCoaster Hersheypark had the lights on in SuperDooperLooper's tunnel the other night during Christmas Candylane. Never remember that being the case. LOL... Maybe I get the rare stuff? If so, I hope one day I can see Nessie in the Loch Ness Monster tunnel again. =(
The biggest reason I don't hit this coaster on every trip to Wildwood is location; this coaster is fairly far away from similar attractions (including all the other coasters). That said, I do enjoy this coaster a lot. Long ago, Wildwood had another woodie ... but it was taken away some time ago. So ... 7 for GN'E and 7 for GW. I doubt the third of the triumvirate (Sea Serpent) will rate so high, but I'm curious all the same.
@@CanobieCoaster Fair enough ... but I'm curious if it's the 'best' Boomerang, in the same way that GN'E may be the 'best' SLC ... or do all Boomerangs basically feel the same.

2 weeks late ik, but this was my first wooden coaster. it’s actually not bad! smoother than i thought. and i got a night rid which made it even better. and i got to say, the back was really fun! definitely a great coaster imo it’s a 8/10
It’s personally a top 25 coaster for me I love it I grew up riding it so I have ridden it before the 2016 retrack which at that time it was brutal some of the rough spots

It’s a good idea, I’ve been there multiple times, and since the sea serpent got the vest restraints jolly rancher remix did at Hershey park, the ride no longer gives you headbanging!
Interesting. I would have thought that the other coaster being a Vekoma SLC would make Great White the best coaster at this park by default. Unless and until that GCI gets built. 🤔
Since is by the Salt Water that’s way they do the midday check, and the lights are in the tunnel is for check for any structural damages since the salty air is corrersive and for the Proposed ride the Residents of North Wildwood and Wildwood said no because they called it an eyesore
my friend (who’s trying to become a coaster enthusiast) thinks great white has a better drop than nitro and while i haven’t ridden great white, i doubt it
@@CanobieCoaster yeah i can’t see myself liking great white’s drop more. he has some other weird opinions, like saying that el toro is unbearably rough and should be rmc’d and that most b&ms (including hypers, inverts, flying, etc) are better in the front. he said especially hypers, which i don’t really understand
Here are my ratings on the coasters top three I will rate out of 10 7. Doo whooper 6. Wild Wizard 5. Rollies 4. Run Away Tram 3. Sea Serpent 7/10 2. Great white 9.5/10 1. Great Nor Easter 10/10
I rode it years ago, and while the setting is great and the ride is fun, I guess I was on a wheel seat because I found it overly bumpy, and that took away from my enjoyment.
Amazing review, but I'd have to respectfully disagree with, when it comes to being the best coaster at moreys. The best is the great nor Easter, in my opinion. I think the great white gets billed as the best by a lot of people so I know I'm in the minority here. I just think it's overrated because of how rough it is and how little it does. The turnarounds are repetitive. I do enjoy the camel humps or bunny hops as well as the ascent up the lift hill, as it's the only coaster with a climb where the rider has a full visual range. These bright spots just aren't enough to compensate for where the coaster lacks.
@@CanobieCoasteri have heard word from a wildwood source saying there will be more work on it and it would be brighter and he left it at that and my mind went immediately to an RMC
