  • In this video I will demonstrate three simple ways of wrapping a bento box (lunch box) with Furoshiki - one conventional way and two ways with a handle. The cloths I used here are all about 45cm x 45 cm.
It's very common to wrap bento in Furoshiki in Japan.
they are less bulky than a lunch bag and you can use the cloth as a table mat as well.
Furoshiki is a square cloth traditionally used in Japan to wrap gifts and carry items.
I have been making a series of Furoshiki tutorial to introduce ways to use them in our modern life. They are a bit like Origami and it's really amazing to find out that they are so many methods to wrap things just with a square cloth.
Also, fabric cloths are washable and reusable and a more eco-friendly option than single use wrapping paper.

...The last word in this video 'itterasshai' is a phrase in Japanese when you send off your family in the morning, and it's equivalent to 'have a nice day!' or 'have a safe trip!'

So the one triangle that’s “tucked under” the box on the outside always just hangs down loose? No one shows it in their video, but mine always does.
