      You can switch to multi channel mode (using the preset menu) and that would send out a separate MIDI channel for each lane, which you can then filter to different samplers.

    Okay - this is cool. I have this program but had not made much use of it, because as cool as it was, I could not find this or any other meaningful tutorial when I got it. I didn't know you could arrange more than a 16 bar loop, and had given up on it. I'm going to play with this cool machine some more.

    What if I want to use the sound from Beat Scholar, but I want to drag the midi onto the same track? Is there any way to stop it from playing the pattern inside the plugin, and only play the midi? The Stop and Play buttons within the plugin don't seem to do anything (unless that's a limitation of the trial or something).
    Edit: I realized a workaround is to delete the pattern within Beat Scholar itself so that it will only play the midi. Still, if there's a better way, that would be ideal. I also noticed the solo and mute buttons vanish when there are more than four lanes in the workspace. I assume it's because there's no longer room for them? Personally, I'd suggest building it so that those boxes can be pulled sideways or something to accommodate them. Losing those functions is a really big hindrance. Unless of course there's already a way to do that and I just don't know what it is.

    Two questions.. what’s the best preset for a great sounding rock drum kit? Purchased, but I am not liking the samples I am hearing so far. I think it’s just a learning curve on dialing in the sounds, but everything so far has sounded artificial. Also, why wont the program expand to full screen?

    • @Modalics
      @Modalics  2 роки тому +2

      Hey -
      While we do have some very nice acoustic samples (just browse through the kit preset folders labled "Acoustic Power" and Jazz for some examples) I can suggest you either use BS to trigger other samplers with a more "Rock" focused sample base or you can simply load your own samples into the drum pads.
      The plugin is fully resizable to any size you want via clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the window.
      Hope this helps...Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to assist.

    • @Modalics
      @Modalics  Місяць тому

      Hey there - You're absolutely right about the tooltips, until we fix that you can access the manual at any time by hitting F1.
      About the internal sampler, simply open the preset menu, hit "enable" and then untick "sampler" and that should do the trick!

    • @TerenceKearns
      @TerenceKearns Місяць тому

      @@Modalics okay I found the manual with F1 based on your comment. I did actually look for a button that might display help. I also noticed that you do indeed have a multi-out but it is under the title "stereo", and I say title because it does not look like a button. I actually did click on the top bar of the "Master" area hoping something would happen, but it's not obvious to click on the word stereo. The manual version shows a cog wheel for settings. I think that icon is more obvious than the word "stereo" when searching for multi-out.

    • @TerenceKearns
      @TerenceKearns Місяць тому

      @@Modalics personally, I think you need to separate out the presets from the other menu items which have nothing to do with presets. From a new user point of view, all those things are effectively hidden because you only expect to find presets under the presets menu, not things like "check for updates" and the whole enable/disable menu. I suggest a general purpose burger menu for general purpose menu items - which should include a "Help" (or "Online Manual") item, and presets should just be fore presets. Sorry I am being a bit autistic but it makes me very good at finding problems. I wouldn't bring it to your attention if it wasn't already a great product or if I thought you wouldn't listen. Also include the multi-out option in the burger menu and don't bury the enable/disable items in a sub-menu. You will have more space once you separate it out from the presets.

    • @TerenceKearns
      @TerenceKearns Місяць тому

      @@Modalics also, why can't i drag and drop patterns into my DAW? I actually rigged up my DAW to record midi from it on another track so I could do things to the notes (because Bitwig) but it's hell inconvenient having to set up another track and route inputs. Also some DAWs (like bitwig) have an annoying habit of not recording midi events that should begin immediately when recording starts. Dragging midi clips from patterns would fix all these issues.

    • @Modalics

      Hi! On the iPad app both the sequencer screen and the sound screen have pads for finger drumming, which are also used to select drums for sound editing or placement on the sequencer area.

      If you click on the rightside menu on "Bars" or "Patterns" you can switch between bars and pattern modes.
      If you want to start arranging your patterns for your song you can look for the midi note assigned to each pattern on the lower right side of the pattern pad (usually C3-Db3-D3 etc..) playing these notes will trigger a change of pattern.
      If I understand you correctly - what you'd want to do is go to every position you want the Beat Scholar pattern to change and simply place a midi event there with the corresponding note.

      Hey Wesley! It's something we've been offered a couple of times. We're not sure if that's a route we want to take, but we might re-think about that in the future. Anyway feel free to contact us at info@modalics.com if you have any business ideas to discuss with us. :)

    This is really cool but i think probability, play order forward, backward, random, cycle etc, and random generate features would make this 1000 times better.

      All in due time. :)
      Beat Scholar does have a Randomizer tool though:

    I like the format but the drums sound cheap.

      Beat Scholar is mostly a MIDI sequencer - you can use it with any of your other samplers and synths, including of course our high end drum sampler (MINDst Drums).
