  • Edit: I recently learned some info on resolution in 3D Coat listed here is WRONG! Voxel Density DOES change in relationship to the grid size, even after the primitive shape has been placed! Be careful when resizing stuff :)
In this video series, I'll go over the entire process for creating a concept painting, from gathering photo reference and using it to design original fantasy architecture, to sculpting and modeling the world using 3D Coat and Blender. Finally we'll create a render and finish the painting off in Photoshop.
I've also included sections going over the basics of Blender and 3D Coat for beginners. This isn't meant to be comprehensive, only to get you started creating with these programs.
    Hope you enjoy!

with vox hide if you go from vox to surf and back the buffer gets cleared and you wont have hidden pieces coming back that you dont want to have come back.
also when saving, if you have alot in your scene, wait "a bit" before you close the program. it takes large scenes a while to save sometimes and if your too fast with closing the app when you re-open you will be missing things in your scene and wont know why.
this is a common known in the community. i wish coat would show you a save timer bar so you would know when to safely close the app. currently if you want save feedback you need to turn on zip saves option, then it will show up in the interface your save time....just a little quirk...

if you were to answer objectively, is sculpting hard and does the process of digital sculpting feel weird and if so does that weird feeling disappear after the first couple times?

id say yes at first but it disappears! 3d coat feels pretty natural as a whole :)

This is only meant to be the instructional section. Sculpting happens in the next section, Part 3!

@@PaceWilder i'm really grateful that you went over this because it's actually really important before getting into sculpting.
