One of the highlights of my unremarkable rugby career was a try-saving tackle on Josh Turnbull playing against Newcastle Emlyn at youth level. He broke through the line and I was the only one between him and a score. Nobody expected me to stop him, and when I did my team celebrated like I'd scored the winning try. In truth, he absolutely bulldosed me but his foot went into touch in the process. He was a hell of a player. There was another very good player in the Emlyn team with him - Rhydian Harries, whose sister Sioned did alright for herself too!
Given how tiny its population is, the Teifi valley has produced a surprising number of international players in recent years.
