    There is a storyline; there had to be. While many people feel it outgrew its very early reputation as a pure Breath of the Wild ripoff in the making by adding the elemental reaction system (which along with standard gacha systems dramatically adjusted the game balance and play cycle), I think it's more important the developers realized that Breath of the Wild wouldn't have been that great without decades of Zelda games to draw on for setting, history and characters. So to make a good ripoff, they had to do the work of creating their own rich world with an extensive history and deep lore to set their own game in. They did. There's a lot already here, and the storyline so far features an uncertain number of factions, none of whom are playing the same game for the same stakes, and we're not really sure who the good guys are. We are sure there are people who are definitely assholes even if they're potentially right. Not only does every playable character have their own backstory and place in the world (probably excepting Aloy, but I'm not ready to comment on that until it's more certain whether two other characters are running two or four simultanously coexisting storylines), but you can assume every NPC with a name has family, friends and in some way has affected the world around them.
    If you want a non-spoilery, more detailed and less meme-y video on this game, I'd suggest Necrit's review on UA-cam.

      @TheCsel Рік тому +4

      @@fluorescent_shrimp it was definitely inspired and influenced by BOTW and Zelda. Though its also fair to say that Zelda heavily leans on basic fantasy and heroic journey tropes. I think Genshin has enough of a divergence to say they didnt rip off Zelda, but enough to feel familar.

    • @vetreas366
      @vetreas366 Рік тому

      Why try to hard to say it's not a BotW rip-off? It totally is. It's Breath of the Wild at it's most basic level. It introduces a few spins of its own such as the ability to create a party of multiple characters and the elemental interaction system which is also inspired by BotW but is unique to Genshin in how it works but beyond these it just has the same overall feel as BotW when it comes to the exploration bits which are the bread and butter of both games.
      I think the problem is that some people seem to think that's a bad thing or something, as if taking from other good games is something that hasn't been done for literal decades. Hell, millennia if we're talking books and other types of entertainment. Half Life wouldn't exist if Quake weren't a thing and Quake wouldn't exist if Doom didn't before it. Apply to every other game genre out there. Devs take from other devs and make something new.
      Genshin excels on its own in some areas but let's not completely ignore that it would not exist if BotW didn't exist before it. We would never have had this game without it. We wouldn't have anything even close to it.

    I've been playing this game since December of 2021. It's a Gacha game with over 50 playable characters and more still being added. Getting these characters are just about luck of the draw. I play casually about once a week. I speed read, so I skip most of the dialogue, which allowed me to get through most of the content up until recently. It's pretty fun, but a lot of the tasks can get repetitive. The story and lore are pretty entertaining. Honestly has some really tragic and cool lore mixed in for such lighthearted gameplay. I'm a f2p player, so I don't spend money on the game, which means that I don't have as many of the strong characters as the people who pay have. But all those extremely strong characters aren't necessary. I still have 32 of the current 62 playable characters, and the 4 I exclusively use get the job done. I play on an HD gaming laptop, so the colors and graphics are always great, which are what got me to play in the first place. The exploration is amazing, and it's packed with a ton of content, way too much for a free game. The things I don't like are the luck-based aspects of getting gear for characters, and some of the grindy aspects required to level up characters. I recommend people play it, but only casually. A lot of people get addicted to this game. Genshin streamers on twitch get tons of views, which goes to show the games popularity. But I think everyone should try and play it once to see if they'd like it themselves or not.

  • @BK-500
    @BK-500 Рік тому +2

    You can steal a duck. I live in a rural area, and daily I cross some animals, chickens, sheeps, ducks and gooses. Once there was a pig just chilling on the route. It's quite dangerous sometimes, some people have hit a horse with their cars, it's quite the problem. Going back to the steeling, it was and it is quite common, someone steals a lamb or a calf (didn't know that word on english, you learn something everyday) to cook it, make some asado with it, or to sell it. Some people steal animals to sell it to or someone for a cheap price. It will be quite simple to steal chickens over here, there just escape their place and chill on the street. My dog has killed some chickens, they get on my family orchard and make a mess, so I don't teel anybody, beacuse at the end the chicken owners still blame you for that. Anyway, I see chickens going more freely than ducks or gooses, but it is posible to steal one, I don't do that, somebody could find out and there is gonna be a mess, tiny town big hell they say.
    Like Mark Twain said, if you're gonna do someting bad, make it right, so, if you steal a duck or something eat it, get rid of the evidence quickly.
    Story that one professor told us once, he had a pizza place time ago, and one night at 3am he wakes up for a phone call, is the police, one of his employees was caught stealing a calf. Why they call him? Because the calf was on the trunk of the car they used to deliver the pizzas.
    Sorry for the long text, I wanna practice my english a little, have a nice one.

      Genshin is the name of the characters in game who can manipulate elements by using a vision(small coloured glass ball they wear on them)
      It's a term from gnosticism and in the game it basically means demi god because it is said that characters who have these powers can become gods

    Overall, it's a good game, there are better but it's not something you need to rush at least. If you decide to try it, just know there is a lot of lore and dialogue, which subjectively can be more interesting or downright boring. It can also be tied in with monthly events. That said, I wish they had an option to re-run certain events that are heavy on lore for new players, but that's what youtube is for as well I guess. 😅 And if you do decide to build characters, don't stress too much about certain builds to clear content, most don't even need 5 star items or the 'best' team comp.
    Just wanted to note: Eula's a interesting case and I'm kinda surprised they went that route... Anyway, going by her lore it's her clan that are still a bunch of abusive aristocratic racists, and she's cut ties with them in order to join the Knights of Favonius and help people. Her backstory explains her hard-to-like personality.

    You can field a team of up to 4 characters. If one of them gets killed, the next one swaps in, which is handy unless you're slidiing down an incredibly steep hill with multiple stopping points. I lost 3 characters this way, and only let it happen because I couldn't believe it _could_ happen. If all your characters get KO'd, then your team respawns at the nearest teleport point at half health.
    Ah yes, the Hu Tao rap. One demonstration of how weird the voice talent agency Mihoyo uses can be. They borked the pacing on the EN dub, and _only_ the EN dub. KR is fine. JP and CN are better. But the EN... well, thankfully that was the 3rd Lantern Rite limited event, and they never come back exactly the same. For ma immersion, when I'm in Liyue I play with the CN dub, so I didn't hear the bad EN version until I looked up the other versions on YT. Unfortunately there aren't any Arabic languages to use in Sumeru. So I use KR instead, since I've nowhere else to use it yet, even though doing so means I won't recognize Nahida's voice actor.
    Yes, Nahida has been watching the Traveler for awhile. This started during Fischl's Bizarre Summer Adventure, which was another limited-time event that will never return. It was at this time that it was revealed that she (Nahida) has power over dreams.

    I'm sure it's a good game and what not but I *REFUSE* to play this game because of the gacha. Like you have to spend money or grind days just to pull a character and it's not even guaranteed.

    • @DanaOtken
      @DanaOtken Рік тому +4

      5 star characters are guaranteeable if you wait for their banner, but it would take months of setup time going free to play. (Max0r's math checks out: 105 pulls is about right for average and 180 is certain for getting a 5 star character on their own banner. Income rates will vary because events are the major share, but should baseline at a bit over 10 pulls a week.) 4 stars are not guaranteeable, but you can realistically expect to pull about 9 within 180 pulls, with two 5 stars as well (only one of those is guaranteed to also be the one you wanted right then). There's a kind of currency built up getting duplicate characters (and far more commonly, weapons) which can outright buy you a character every few months, but the selection is unrelated to the gacha banners and waiting for somebody specific could take a very long time.
      I'm not free-to-play, but I also won't gamble; I donate a fixed amount to help keep the development funded (a pretty small amount because my income sucks), use a fixed system for pulling, and learn to accept my results. And I don't think there's anything wrong with your approach. I am hoping that in the hopefully distant future, when they're finally done with this game in its current form, they'll consider repackaging and selling an complete offline version before shutting the servers down. That's - always kind of a pipe dream, but it seems more practically possible here than with the usual online gacha game (they're not managing the resources used for events and previous versions as sloppily, and the game is clearly remembering whether a given player has seen specific event-based story details).

      @@DanaOtken That's the thing, ypu said it takes months to set up for f2p. I don't have problem spending money for a game but at least give some leeway for the f2p. It doesn't help either that all I'm seeing about Genshin Impact on UA-cam was how people struggling and getting addicted to pull a gacha.

    • @DanaOtken
      @DanaOtken Рік тому +6

      @@blameitondanny Sorry, I was focusing on gacha details and forgot to mention: you don't need to pull on the gacha at all to play through the main story, explore fully, and so on. Even the character you're supposed to get as part of your initial (paid for) discounted 10-pull isn't needed - although she's very useful, especially for players who have trouble learning to dodge. Every single character you actually need to get places, do things, and fight effectively enough for the normal parts of the game will be acquired through guaranteed, non-paid, non-gacha means. Likewise, every single time a storyline really requires you to have a specific character (usually, because it's a personal part of their own storyline) a temporary version of that character, already built and equipped, will be lent to you for the needed period.
      That said, people will absolutely want to pull, so I would never recommend this game to somebody who can't control themselves - and a lot of the people who gravitate to gacha games can't or discover they can't. As Necrit pointed out, this being a good game whose developers are reinvesting the profits into it makes it very easy to justify the gambling if you're inclined that way - which is why I'm careful not to.
      Also: I was giving you statistics for getting a specific 5 star character while they have a banner up and assuming they're the only character you'll ever want, because that's the easiest math. If you're less particular (and all characters are powerful enough to be useful) you can expect on free-to-play to get about one new character a month for about a year, after which duplicates will start to predominate unless you start saving for specific characters. (There is some value to getting up to seven copies of a character, which explains just how dramatic the high ends of the drama get.)

    • @fluorescent_shrimp
      @fluorescent_shrimp Рік тому +2

      1) it's guaranteed.
      2) you don't have to pull at all, free chars are enough to clear all the content

    • @TheCsel
      @TheCsel Рік тому +5

      Its perfectly doable to play only free to play in Genshin. Or even the $15/month for the Welkin+Battlepass which is equivalent to a MMO Subscription. They give you some free characters and some of them are actually really good. And once you get a solid team its much less of a drive to pull for more characters, I know early on it feels like you want every character but honestly you will probably only end up playing with a few anyway. Plus there is a pity system, the odds for a 5 star go up the more you pull and if you fail to get the featured 5 star the next 5 star you pull is guaranteed. So you can plan your wishes with guarantee on the banner you really want. But at the end of the day you probably arent wrong, you probably should be careful if you think you might get addicted. You can always watch people's gameplay online if you want the story content.

      And in more of his videos, he says to not take him as an advice. I would say if you want a ''normal'' review of whatever, there are other channels for that

      @@sara_s1737 The ultrakill video was the one that confirmed my feelings about this.
      If you already KNOW what he's talking about, as I did with the MGR video, it's not as bad. But I actually can't sit through one that's on a game I'm not familiar with

    You can probably steal a duck. But it'd be easier if you gain their trust with bread. So you'll have to spend time with them before you 'adopt' them
    Its funny cause the entire world is nice colorful and beautiful, but theres one big ass problem in every place. Imagine living in paradise like hawaii, but theres a literal portal to hell thats just a 5 minute walk from your house

    Genshin_impact story is good but not the best. A lot of the chinese style of how they make their entertainment slows it down very dialogue heavy and too many non voiced dialogue. A lot of Chinese games played are has these issues.
