Oh, they finally fixed the gatling turret's death message to no longer list its 25mm shells as 'light weapons fire', that's very nice. Always amused me that it was considered that.

Lol - I was waiting for 2 things.. the surprise Railgun shot and the Mines - You did not disappoint! 😂 I do hope some of the encounters are a little more challenging - because after doing a few of these you will get the routine down and become pretty easy in taking over.

This is the kind of situation I was using MES from the workshop to have. Really good to see that after all these years, Keen is still paying attention to the modding community and what players actually want.
I'm thinking some small grid drones for base infiltration might be on everyone's "to build" list soon like the one the Rocinante deploys in The Expanse
I saw one maybe two people years ago do a "Riot Shield" type tiny small grid thing for breaching bases and ships, specifically to protect them against Interior Turrets. Not sure who it was. Black Armor, maybe.

@@tackytrooper ok bit in end game im assuming you have at least one heavy refining site with multiple refineries rendering the refinery pointless for my needs by that point, the small gyros are stupidly large, 12 gyros (2x2x3 the size of the proto gyro) are probably better than a proto gyro. etc TL:DR by the time you get to this you dont really need it and your likely to be more damaged than the worth of the new blocks there. im not facing multiple rail guns, THAT MANY ships, a mine field and drones just for a proto block
This looks really awesome and I hope this is only the beginning of something they'll expand on like scaling difficulty, new/better rewards like: - alternatives on existing/new blocks - tidbits of lore - implement tidbit teasers for the community to discover of future updates I'm glad I picked the game up just before this update as it helps as a goal to work towards.
Imagine if the encounters mod stuff gets upgraded with Prototech to make things like Reavers harder to handle. Or better yet, a new Reaver type called "ProtoReavers" that you might encounter.
Actually, the velocity of the large grid railguns is such that they will largely phase through small grids. They are not intended for engaging small grids.

I mean no disrespect but i have been hit by large grid Railguns while using a small grid fighter so that info is wrong i have tested this while staying still at range and the LGRG (Large Grid RailGun) still hit me it doesn't phase through small builds if it does that to you then that is a bug your encountering.
I feel like a defender class would be a better choice for a "cargo" ship there jack... Ik its technically bot cargo ship but it has big enough hangar to put the jumpdrive in AND aswell fit a tug ship. Anyway, perfetto video as always Jack

the mines were a great trap it definately not a easy task to get it that for sure and you will need a 4x4 door opening on cargo ship to get it in looking forward to the challenge

You know, I'm concerned about where that large grid ship we saw in the teaser was. Unless you fought it, in which case I'm a bit disappointed at the size but also a bit relieved. Not sure what happened to those two drone ships though.

So how is this update going to interface with the standard mods that people are using widely, such as MES. MES has the random ships and cargo ships turned off by default in the settings; will these need to be turned back on for the encounters to spawn?
My god this look unbeleivably hard.... My guess is you need a carrier with a drone printer on to take over the area? its gonna take an eternity to build lol... (edit) You guys say its easy but you died a dozen times trying to get it out lol. I only play survival so dying and losing your ship is kind of a big deal for me XD Thanks for the vid!
To be fair they kinda just rushed in with small grid fighters expecting an easy fight. If you scoped out the area and strategically sniped the emplacements, you would have a much easier time.
Man this is going to make the lone wolf Faction's a bit less effective...players like me who calculate everything but try to do everything on my own..going to really need to up the ship defenses. This is what Ive wanted for ages...and it looks like as long as server admins are enabling the global encounters, there'll be plenty of action. Im curious what triggers these encounters though. If there are 5 players online, 2 in Space, 2 on Earth, 1 on Mars, for example, will a Global Encounter centrally to everyone pop up? How does it determine what/when/where?
I'm expecting this update to break a lot of mods initially. That's one benefit to the Monday release, modders and devs will have all week to patch their stuff.
I'm quite sad that Keen hasn't made a __STABLE__ Steam Deck/Linux compatible version yet. My luck would be that I encounter one of these and the client crashes, taking 100 tries to reload into the save, only for it to load 5 seconds before the encounter and it not kick off again.
Color me worried. I have been playing mostly on the keen public severs, and there are a couple of pvp players that will make this part of the new update quite terrible. I think i might give it a go for a few weeks, but ultimately, i think that this is going to straddle the line where its excellent additions to the game but there are players who are deliberately nasty to everyone and this is perfect for them and might drive me back to solo only.
Guys a quick question, will i be able to continue to play in my current savefile and find factorum posts like this after the update or will i need to start a new one?
It should not require a new save it should cause them to show up in old saves but you will have to wipe all the AI Grids from the save though just to make sure it all spawns in correctly.
The only thing they add in DLC's is the Cosmetic Stuff which doesn't impact gameplay the devs have already stated that they don't want to make it P2W so no need to worry about it.
@@AkiUwUx3 The weapons were free to everyone they were not behind a paywall the only thing involving the weapons was the cosmetic variants which have the same stats as the vanilla non DLC weapons but they don't count as P2W since the Warfare DLC weapons are just reskins of the vanilla weapons.

5:40 so, so far it’s more than “difficult” it’s “ultra nightmare” and I’m not touching the encounters with a 10km barge pole
You are meant to encounter them with late game stuff, not the mediocre force assembled in this video

Nothing to do with the Block being owned by the Factorum...
You may have grinded the blocks down but the Jumpdrive was STILL a Static grid block...
Also they could've just stuck a seat/control panel on the jumpdrive and claimed it.

I kinda hope this replaces MES and allows modders to just add their grids to the vanilla spawning system fairly easily.

Prototech and the new encounters will be free, according to the devs.
