The teleprompter function helped a lot with my presentation! It’s a lifesaver for anyone with a bad memory.
See our recent Iceberg video where I used it for this purpose
@@thespectaclefactory you used it during the full video? It seemed natural to me
I love that you had the review first and the unboxing after. I’ve never seen that before honestly
Thanks!
I second that!
Besides the features you mentioned, what really impressed me the most was the design of the G1. It’s not bulky like other smart glasses, and even the sunglasses clip is elegantly designed.
💯
A display in my prescription glasses is a dream come true
But for me to drop £1000 on these I need to be able to display info of my choice that is important to me, so it becomes an extension/augmentation of myself
So far, to me, it seems like a really expensive clock, I'm not interested in the other features
If there were an API, with which I could permanently pin custom info, the utility would be endless (as opposed to abusing notifications)
I could track how much money I've spent today, and how much that compares to my average daily spend
I could check my current speed and trip distance when cycling/riding my electric unicycle
For the latter, I would also rather look down, than look at the sky, to check it
If the utility is restricted and I can't make it work for me, then it's just another cool gimmick
The hardware looks amazing, now it's all up to the software and what you can do with it
Exactly this I want a driving HUD paired to my phone with currently playing track and ability to skip it from the frames like a smartwatch level of features paired to my phone as an extension
Seconded. I'd probably buy a pair just for the programming fun.
💯 they need to get in the habit to open up their platforms for everyone to play with.
Electric unicycle.
ER should focus on opening up the platform and integrating with apps people actually use. Right now, pretty worthless.
I am so grateful to still be around to use this tech!
🙏
Since the pc have been on the market, nothing impressed me until VR, AR devices are introduced
I'm a pilot, and use heads-up displays. This is natural to me, and I am excited about seeing a pair.
Cool! I wonder if it would be useful as a pilot to have certain information available directly in front of your eyes
I have a PPL, and although I haven't actually used a HUD it's the first thing I thought of when I saw this video. The value of a HUD when flying is obvious, but in eyeglasses I'm not so sure. Info on a HUD is directly related to flying, but info in these glasses does not have anything to do with walking or driving. Now, if there was a way to link these glasses to car data, e.g. speed, turn-signals, etc, to create a HUD in the car, THAT could be useful.
@@thespectaclefactory That is the point of a heads up display. We have most of the flight information in front of our eyes. It might work for small aircraft, but what we need is real time information. My charts are now all electronic. Putting in checklists might be helpful
@@mostguitarswins I was thinking about checklists. In many situations, I don't like to look down to read a checklist.
How can i buy it ?
What do you think of the G1? Let me know 👇- and if you'd like a pair, including with prescription lenses, email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com and we'll make sure you get yours first 😉
As someone hard of hearing, having 'sub titles' appear before my eyes is an amazing feature. I also travel alot on business. Translation feature is also hugely useful along with Google maps providing directions. I will be looking into these...
These are actually incredible. Many of the "smart" glasses so far have felt gimmicky. These look so good.
Exactly my feeling
@@thespectaclefactory
As an assistant, I really need these. I want the brown more retangular style. They both have a timeless retro feel. Im in love lol.
The G1 is phenomenal! I am definitely going to be an early adopter. The tech is integrated in a way that is not obtrusive and totally agree with Robert about the design and use.
They definitely seem worth adopting even in the initial release. It feels like a completely finished product, although I'm sure they'll iterate on it over time.
@@thespectaclefactory Thanks... I just looked at the preorder options and there is not a progressive lens option just yet. Only no prescription or single prescription option.
Does chat gpt works with these glasses?
Pretty cool, the voice-to-text
feature helps me take notes while I'm on the move. Now I can finish my diary on the way home.
I leave myself notes whilst driving all the time
I knew as soon as Lindberg and others were involved, you'd be covering the product. Meeting the team behind this piece of eyewear will be cool.. excited to see more, and your recommendations might be enough for me to buy a pair. We shall see.
Yeah, keep your eyes peeled for the full review! Early signs are promising
Idk about others but this does promote a better posture especially when it forces you to look slightly higher, and of that is addictive then people will be looking prominently higher constantly than slouching. It sounds silly but i think that in itself is cool
You're right, I found that I spent more time with my head held high rather than looking down at my phone whilst wearing them
true but don't forget about EMF exposure next to your brain
Perfect presentation matey , love it how they have not overloaded with phone apps … imaging chatting to people around the world in their language… brilliant
Finally, a good review of these beautiful glasses. Bravo sir!!! If these had bone conductive audio, I would have bought them in a second.
Thank you!
골전도는 진동으로 계ㅗㄱ 사용하기가 어렵습니다. 저는 그래서 골전도 장비를 사용하지 않습니다. 제 경우는요.
Well the great thing about not having built-in audio is you get to use whatever you already have for audio source. Meaning you likely will have MUCH better audio than what can be provided on-board.
As someone who is a professor, these would really help. I have to monitor thousands of students and can't always be looking down at a screen, so I can actually give more time to help my students without having to zone out. If the AI is good, this will be a game changer.
Just a thought, but this could be huge in a university setting, anything from business to medicine.
Great thinking! That's an application I hadn't considered, but makes sense
I'll chime in and say that the AI actually is quite good. People have already started to receive their G1s in the mail, and although I'm not a part of that crowd, many of them say that the AI assistant is good, while also being quick enough that it's not a pain to use. It will also likely improve over time. Even Realities has already promised more features are to come, and it may include an even better AI model in the next year or so, who knows.
Excellent innovation especially for us who use spectacles and teach as well. How much?
@@campionchiromba7479 $599 for normal frames without prescription, and with prescription it's $749. It's a fairly reasonable price for prescription lenses: only $150
i like the idea. i already have a camera and headphones on me, no need to have a worse version of those in my glasses too. im keeping my eye on these, in case they go into mass production and the price becomes reasonable.
I think a lot of you are missing the point. These are supposed to be a different kind of glasses, not complete augmented reality. The creator said he wanted to make them as light weight and normal as possible. Adding a speaker and camera is not lightweight and often NOT stylish at all. Ive also come to realize the numerous complaints on battery life and the fact that when humans see a camera pointed at them, they constantly wonder if they are being recorded and sometimes do not appreciate it. Completely different kind of tech.
Exactly! Glasses first and foremost, and the tech is an awesome feature
As a meta owner - 99 % people I met don't know that metas have a camera in them. They just not on the edge of tech to have that idea
Yep this is what I’ve wanted when I heard Apple was making glasses. They really missed the mark and this nailed it.
This is it. It's innovation that is CUSTOMER first and not just about the tech. If anything it's AR done as intended and not just a projector and camera forced into something that looks vaguely like glasses that could take a bullet.
@thespectaclefactory glasses were designed so people can see clearly not as a tech eyewear. Can i buy them for prescription type issues as i need to wear glasses to see and read?
Im wearing them in an interview and have the answers ready to read from my glasses
Love the concept, I don't want a camera but speakers would make them perfect.
These are brilliant. I’ve got to echo all the others saying that this is the technology I’ve been waiting for!
The live translation feature is super cool! Definitely getting a pair
💯
Can we save 20000 words in notes and see in offline
Thank you for bringing these to our attention - keen to try them
sounds great and looks great...luv ya work!! im keen !.. imagine what will be around in 20 years...
a good step forward. i like the placement of the battery. now lets get towards more AR glasses. eye tracking will help. cameras. will require us to step up our battery tech but we need that anyway.
WOW. I'd love to try a pair. Just for the simple notifications and daily tasks.
You should!
I’m an “Oversize Load” escort driver averaging around 100k miles per year. We are typically legal a half hour before sunrise to half hour after sunset. I spend a lot of time driving from 3:30 AM until night time. A huge safety issue I deal with every night are the headlights of both oncoming traffic and what’s behind. So many aftermarket lights and suspension mods end up literally blinding me with misaligned headlights. Add poor weather and visibility and I’m purely steering on skills learned as a pilot and that’s runway…or roadway environment picture. Chasing that tiny thin line on the right side of the road, that’s barely visible while in a sweeping turn, while blinded. Backwoods country single lane roads, gotta love them in the middle of the night. Used to be the only real threat was the wild animals darting across the road but now you gotta deal with ridiculously bright lights. If there’s a way for this technology to help deal with this issue, let’s see what it can do.
I have the same issues with crazy blinding lights while driving. Very dangerous so I try to avoid night driving. Stay safe out there.
Wow I really thought you meant escort for large ladies
HOLY SMOKES this is almost 100% of what I've been waiting for 15 years ! Simple informations , a day of battery life, bluetooth... The only misssing link for me would be bone conduction audio. Do you know when we can preorder it through you ? I guess the 134mm hinge to hinge might be a little snug but this is absolutely excellent ! Thanks for the video Robert
Drop me an email via rob@thespectaclefactory.com - we're taking pre-orders now so yours will be in the first batch that is released
I think there is a high value with having a camera in the glasses as you can film events in your life hands free.
This company understand what a smart glasses mean. Not a phone replacement..
💯 that's why I got so excited
I would rather have AR glasses replacing my lame breakable so called modern phone.
Hated Iphone from the start and hated even more the more I know it is crap. I just forced to have one because it is the only thing available
Having actually tried a Google Glass I think that was closer to these than anything else. That you could tip your head up and see the time and notifications, just like these. Glass was a HUD that just happened to run Android, not a phone that just happened to be on your face.
Did these get rid of the need for prescriptions? That would be a game-changer if they would adjust to individual prescription needs
They don't adjust, you choose your prescription when you purchase them if you so choose.
You order them with your specific prescription. Expect to pay at LEAST double the asking price...
Interesting. I love the HUD concept and it looks like these guys have nailed that. Having said that, I've been wearing my Meta Wayfarers for 6 months now; got them with my prescription and transitions so don't need separate or clip-on sunglasses when driving or flying. I use the hands-free aspect of two-way comms constantly for calls and texts without needing to put in earbuds or put a phone to my ear, and the lack of speakers in the G1 makes that a deal-breaker for me. The way this tech is heading is really cool.
These look great, thank you, very nice review. 👍
Appreciate it!
It's so light and wearable, I mean, it’s probably the closest any smart glasses get to looking and feeling like regular ones.
couldn't agree more
Cool. This industry is developing nicely.
Agreed!
“Magnesium is more durable than titanium”? Are you ok?
Yeah, he's talking total rubbish there. Tried to find _something_ to give him the benefit of doubt but the best I can think is that he means by weight? Mg is lighter than Ti and glasses probably aren't going to have forces exerted on them to deem using Ti... so you could argue that with a load that underutilizes Ti's strength Mg is better for it's weight but "durability" doesn't even mean anything in properties of materials, it's like an encompassing term for a bunch of properties.
I agree. He is totally wrong. Mg can even burn. Ti is a very resilient material.
Yeah titanium is stronger but mag is strong enough, is lighter and has better thermal properties. So it will disperse heat better which probably makes a difference when it comes to glasses with electronics which likely generate its own heat. He is a little bit off the mark but magnesium may very well be superior when it comes to glasses. If you are likely to be punched in the face while wearing glasses, choose titanium. Otherwise magnesium for the win
I really loved the concept of prioritizing eye wear first and then technology on top of it. Do you guys have developer SDK? Or do you plan to have it? I have a lot of ideas to integrate on the glass
I think they look terrific. I would like to hear more about the kinds of lenses it supports. Who is the lens manufacturer? Does it support varifocal, etc? An excellent presentation.
So, these are currently $600usd on pre-sale. Are we buying these from you with prescription lenses? What about progressives? If we buy from you, do we get the pre-order perks? Are you able to tint/flash coat?
I'm working with them to make custom tinting and/or Zeiss lenses a possibility. Can't make any promises yet. We can definitely upgrade the sunclip and I'll be doing that with my pair for sure.
@@thespectaclefactory I will definitely be interested in them if/when custom tinted Zeiss lens are available! Great video as usual, Robert!
Are these glasses going to be available for ANY prescription???
NOW!
Great question and not answered in the video as best I remember. Prescription lenses are needed by many of us.
This is awesome! Thanks for bringing it to my attention
My pleasure
I think it’s ready to go right now
👍
I completely understand that they r mainly glasses but, I would still love speakers both for music and for reading notifications or directions while driving or just cant look but as they are these are amazing.
leaving out camera and audio is 100% what i want. in fact, to me, they could have left out more and move more of the heavy lifting to a connected phone. i've always wanted one to just be largely a dumb terminal that utilise the phone foir processing (instead of others who've tried to slap a wearable swiss army knife on your face). i can see this becoming absolute boss in 2-4 iterations/versions as long as they don't lose their ways and get bloaty (like one plus).
i mean, we'll see how well the production units turn out but a lot of the underlying philosophies feel so right to me.
I feel exactly the same
I have my phone on me more often than my glasses. Why not offload processing to the device I'm never more than 10 feet from?
@@michvroom8784
same because i don't wear my glasses full time but there are people who wear glasses full-time, though.
the most important thing is i'd rather have the additional weight (for processing power) on the phone (in my pocket) than on the glasses (on my face).
Taking a photo or recording video w/ your glasses isn’t unnecessary complexity. I use mine when rock climbing, jogging and skateboarding. I was best man at my friend’s wedding and I have a moment from a POV that most people could never capture w/out being taken out of the moment or distracted. To each their own.
That’s actually pretty cool, the wedding part. Never thought about it like that.
Can't a go pro replace what you have?
It definitely is useless weight lmao!
Couldn’t agree more. The POV aspect can’t be replicated with your phone!
Hello, I'm severely visually impaired and that's lead to a lot of complications with navigation and reading etc for my whole life despite tech advancements so when I see things like this it does make me smile as these look absolutely perfect for someone like me. The only catch unfortunately is that the sun clip won't be nearly dark enough as I use 94-96% (4+6%). Could this be a possibility in the future. Also, can the text on screen be enlarged as that would really help? Thank you. I'd love to try these but they cost a ton so I'd need to ask first. Thank you
Not sure if the text could be enlarged, but we can definitely customise your sunclip with whatever level and colour of tint you like
Looks like a fantastic product. One question could you please explain, the size of the green information. I definitely would normally need my reading glasses to be able to read something that size by availing of the magnification on my prescription glasses. How is it now possible for me to be able to read it without this aid. I'm sure there is a perfect logical answer to this.
So what's happened with the prescriptions from the special Eye Dr.? is that it would automatically adjust? so good to hear as they got the extra gadget on it. Overall, the video more than Awesome. I Love it.
> Toronto, Canada
That looks way better then the Meta.
Thank you for your work🙏
these projections / overlays are also useful if you are watching / working on a tablet.
I would absolutely LOVE to know if theres any community/open source plugins planned. That would be an absolute gamwe changer, especially for those who just want a nice, accessible HUD to put what they need/want on.
Exactly. These are what I want; a smart-watch replacement, not a phone/camera/headphones replacement.
Exactly! My main hangup on all of these products so far is how locked down they are. I need one that lets me put whatever niche information I want on the screen.
Same.. if I can't program it, it's a total waste of money
My ideal smart glasses would be a pair of wide angle glasses which automatically adjust focus for far or near sight, modify opacity according to brightness, turn a yellow(ish) tint for the fog and with image enhancement in low light or darkness.
I was interested in these.
Very interested.
Then I saw the video.
It's good to finally see something that's ready for production. It still might be another couple of years before it's fine tuned and priced appropriate for me though.
I doubt it will come down in price. They already cost less than a lot of high end frames that don't have digital functionality
@@thespectaclefactory I kinda said that before even looking into the price, anticipating a high expense.
I'd love them if they had bone conducting headphones, or were fit so that you could wear some comfortably. And being able to read email or texts and respond to them would be very helpful. An A+ feature would be to be able to connect a keyboard so that You could type long documents without eye strain.
Please make a video on how to clean our lens and a good process of clean lens and what are the solution or water we can use to clean our lens.
Now they look really smart!
That green colour look great!
I’ve got a visual impairment and it’s this kind of tech that I have been waiting for.
The feature of having a message and one day navigation on your lenses will really help people like with a vision impairment 👌🏻
The translation, AI, teleprompter and closed caption HUD features will be amazing!
I’m a little confused about the requirement to look up. These features would obviously need to work without looking up.
The all day battery life is similar to a smart watch so that’s perfect as you wouldn’t sleep with them.
An integration with Chat GPT would be helpful, seeing the text that is spoken by Chat GPT would be helpful for search responses, translations etc.. A future two way camera version with Chat GPT would be helpful, ie.. “What am I looking at?” could be spawn with an eye brow lift or eye gestures 😊
I have a google glass that’s on a shelf , I hope that some brand can bring this from factor to main stream, it was so cool and powerful.. it was next to having a super power
The problem with AR and VR is input and what to display. When AI is incorporated so that it can become an expert in you and predict what you want and how you prefer it to be displayed, they will be useful. Then the input and display can be enjoyable and not a burden.
Wow. I’m rarely amazed.
I want a pair of these glasses.
Nice smartglasses... but since nine months I already use less expensive (350$ instead of 850$) analog ones called INMO Go with about the same features (AI assistant, translation, navigation, teleprompting, notifications + calls and music) coming with sunny and prescription clips plus a case. They have two small speakers that G1 don't have. For navigation those are quite useful giving clear indications like when turning left or right, so you can close or open the visual as you wish when driving or biking. Finally for my normal usage, one battery charge goes easily 3 to 4 days.
Great video! Do you think you could make a video about some of your favorite feminine frames/frames on women? I got my first pair of rimless glasses from Lindberg and love them, but the choice was so hard. I find acetate glasses and more "fashion" glasses easier to find/pick from than everyday glasses.
Nice pair of *normal* looking glasses. Hands free HUD. All day battery, also a plus. Intriguing applications maybe real time translation, maps and direction. (Others? I need a compelling use case, before considering getting one.)
The only competitor, for hands free, might be a smartwatch. Though this doesn't have as real estate.
Ready to buy now!!
Email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com
I like the concept and feature set . I wish the designers/manufacturers all the best.
I agree that having audio capabilities to the glasses is unnecessary. However, I will ask that you rethink the inclusion of a camera. For me this is the reason I will be buying a smart pair of glasses. I want a pair that will easily
1) on gesture, take a photo
2) on gesture, save a short videoclip/series of photos clip from the previous xx seconds e.g. x=15secs.
I'm someone who is severely hearing impaired and have trouble understanding people sometimes, I was wondering if these glasses could have a CC option to help aid in conversation?
Cool. What about prescription???
Fully prescription compatible.
This is the first wearable I've ever been excited about. I've never bought one, but this might be good enough to be worth it, and subtle enough to not make me look like an asshole
I had a set of the very first echo frames and one issue I frequently hit was that I had to remember to take them off to go in a pool and if I forgot a backup pair of glasses to wear I was totally blind. That's no fun when you're trying to play with your kid and see they're joy in the pool. How's the waterproofing on these?
I know you find these frames stylish because they fit your face type, but even if the tech is there and they've resolved the many problems I had with earlier smart glasses I would have to wait for them to release a shape that works with the shape of my face.
Give it a few years and every newscaster will have these on
Good call.
Genuinely, I can see that happening. The teleprompter function works well
I doubt it. It moves your eye contact away from the camera. How is that not going to be noticeable?
I kinda doubt that. Current teleprompter technology is widely prevalent and is the exact right tool for the job. There's no real reason to replace them with these in that specific context. You don't gain anything and you'd see the display in camera, whereas teleprompters are able to be directly in front of the camera lens without affecting the image at all. You really can't improve upon them. There are way more reasons why this wouldn't be ideal than any potential benefits.
@@BigDaddyWesquick in field journalism
Will it be possible one day to have some shops in Italy too?
Us? Maybe!
As a tech nerd, Never buy the first generation of anything.
Fellow tech nerd here. I'd mostly apply that to giant corporations that can afford to take a dip in profits. If it's a small startup with cool tech, then no, you won't be getting an astounding product without flaws, but you'll be making an investment on their future to help their product stick around
As a fellow tech nerd I can tell you that this could easily replace my phone and that alone is reason enough for me to buy in. It'd be nice to not have the constant distractions yk?
@@EG80No, you're clearly not a tech nerd because you haven't understood what this device is. You will still need your phone at all times. That's how it communicates over Bluetooth. It's basically a glorified smartwatch for your face.
As a tech nerd, I buy the first Gen of everything
@@ThisGuyDakota I'd agree with that sentiment. The Osborn company went bankrupt because they teased too early that they were working on an Osborn 2, so everyone cancelled their pre-orders for the Osborn 1. If you can think of a way you'll actually use it, I'd say go and buy the first gen thing, maybe you'll be one of the few to have seen the future first hand.
But you made no mention of an individual's prescription - how/where/when is that done?
This is a good start.
The end goal is Tony Stark tech. Everything else is transitory
💯
8:44 having a camera would add a big creep factor to them it’s a little weird to walk around with camera glasses all day would definitely make a lot of people uncomfortable. Glad they don’t have one
💯 agree
I’ve been following smart glasses for years, and It is truly surprising to see one product that integrates display this seamlessly into their design. The microled and waveguide display combo they use is not that rare tbh, and I’ve seen companies like Vuzix and Rayneo made similar products using this technology. But wow, nothing goes close to this one here in terms of size, style and the finish, not to mention I’ve not seen any product out there that can really integrates waveguide and prescription lenses in one piece. Not sure if these guys can really deliver what they are promising, but if so, this will be game changing.
You're right; it's really exciting. The early signs are positive!
I would love just for navigation feature as I get lost in a paper bag.. and to have a heads up nav all the time would allow for less time looking at a device to see what my next turn is or if unfamiliar spaces driving at night. Etc.. I will for sure order a pair of these next year with my FSA as meta is already covered by insurance carriers this should be too. The green is for sure way to go.
My favorite feature of magnisum is their combustion properties.
😅
Nooooo ive always wanted this but no support for astigmatism lens. This is super cool tech!!
My pair has astigmatism correction! So it is possible. Email me via rob@thespectaclefactory.com and I'll help you to get a pair.
Robert made please video about suggestion for glasses/lenses when somebody has astigmatism.
What ideal index to choose according fi level and how to wear sunclips even if astigmatism is included?
They should really consider making a book reader feature for these. How many lines of text do the glasses display? Is it enough for a page of text?
No it's not a page, but that would be a bit overwhelming anyway. The text autoscrolls and you can have a pretty large text file if you want
At 7:46 his phone definitely fell out of his pocket. 😂 The zoom in before it happened and the sound. Pour one out for the phone.
Very impressed. Can they produce something for cycling performance?
Well, they could be used for cycling in the current iteration, and if the market was big enough I do think they could make a sport-specific version
A similar thing has been done by Julbo I think.
These look fantastic!
They are pretty unbelievable
Very interesting but we never talk about vision correction so for those who need a prescription how do they see correctly with these wonderful glasses?
They can be ordered in prescription 👍
Very interesting, thank you.
I'm wondering if you can get them prescription.
Yep! You can order them through selected partners like us. Just email me via rob@thespectaclefactory.com and I'll set up a custom order for you.
When will you be releasing additional sun clips for these?
The width of the frame has always been an issue for me as a eyeglass wearer. Do they make wide frames as it looks like they be damaged for people with large heads and wide faces.
I like it. A personal HUD.
Exactly!
They look amazing but I would have one question. We all know batteries only have so many changes before they degrade, for £600 glasses is it possible to change the batteries when they stop taking 100% charge so they still last the full day without dying?
Not a downer on the tech though they look amazing and I love the feature selection because they haven’t gone OTT ❤
The battery should last at least as long as your prescription lasts
Of high importance is support for community developers. Many manufacturers have a very odd propensity to want total control over how their product is used. A perilous choice.
I wish we could write an app to access data on servers via ssh. Maybe using the phone's bluetooth?
I think that Google's directions are a massive win, but it will also be important that ER allow third-party apps; if or when this happens, it would be a game gamer, and I would certainly make a purchase.
What, if you need to have optical corrections in you’re glasses ? Is that possible ? Are there limitations ? Can that be done by a local optical person ? Has it been done in the factory ? What is the price ?
A lot of questions unanswered.
Check our follow up video! But the short answer is yes, they can be made in almost any prescription. If you'd like a pair, just email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com
Great they did it green, because I am almost blind to red color! Hehe
Love the green!
I WOULD DEFINITELY WEAR IT. BUT HAVING THE MAP FEATURE IS BIG FOR ME. AND HOW MUCH SIR. THANK YOU.
Would these be capable of receiving updated features/capabilities in the future or are they locked to the features they have currently?
Yes, the devs plan to constantly update the feature-set. I already gave them a couple of suggestions
We just put on the glasses and its reads the sentence and gives us the answers ? Or do you have to order the glasses out loud ?
