've been on a mission for a great while to find the Gibson prototype(s) of the _Schon guitar._ The production Schon guitars were made in 1986 and Grover Jackson was the contracted builder, so essentially it's a Jackson in all but name. But apparently Gibson was contracted to build a prototype(s) prior to Jackson getting the contract. I've scoured the usual channels and have only come up with an image of a photgraph of the Gibson prototype Schon I pulled off of Ed Roman's website 15 yrs ago. Any information would be helpful.
@NealSchon You got it right........You can have different pickups/amps gear and whatever else but alot of the tone/sound comes the player. Nuno Bettencourt told me the first time he met Eddie Van Halen Eddie let him play through his rig. Nuno to me "I'm finally going to sound like Eddie"!!!!! Then Nuno said I was very disappointed it sounded like me,its all in the player.
My life changed when I dug into Schon and Lukather’s playing. Chops and technique for days, but they’ve got the confidence to hit just one note and absolutely own it
Had the pleasure of feeding Neil and the band about 13 years ago, and talked for 2 minutes with him about his first floyd rose, relationship with DiMarzio, and Seymour... love his passion for guitars
one of my guitar heros , just love his melodic playing and the way he approaches a song . Tone , riffs , guitars all are incredible. Seen them live and he was larger than life , much respect for this classy guitar slinger !
Underrated ONLY to the ignoramus.....🙄 In no way, shape or form, is Neil Schon underrated.....literally everyone who knows who Neil Schon is, says "he's a fantastic musician/guitarist"....
Saw him back in the day, and then again, many years later. I was at a G3 concert. He wasn't one of the guitarists. He just happened to be there. He came out and played. He was, in a word, great. Highly underrated player, to me.
Stacked to the rafters with guitars. That's a good place to be. I'm sure Neal loves his wife, but he earned the money and he should be enjoying it. I'm so happy to not be married anymore. Love or not, women can be more misery than their worth. I envy Neal to have so many amazing guitars you can't find the one you're looking for at times.
I lost 2 guitar collections due to past relationships. I've been alone now for over a year and working on my 3rd collection. They're staying the women can go.
@@lawrencedavis5459 I applaud that Lawrence. Fantastic. I don't think I'll ever get married again. My girlfriend now knows better, but any women that thinks she has a right to tell me what to do with my money can find the door. I don't tell her what to do with hers.

I noticed he says the same thing all the greats do. They want to to emulate the nuances of the voice with thier guitar. I would say most play off the bass and drums. Where these virtuoso guitarists that have had the opportunity to play with unbelievably talented singers, look to change it up a bit. Tony Iommi has commented many times, how playing with Dio changed his outlook on the way songs should be arranged. Dio would sing with and around the crescendo of the chorus. Where Ozzy tends to fill in the empty spaces between sections.
Strat, Floyd equipped, 2nd to none Many companies copied body style. Light, contoured, balanced, stage prevelance. Schon brings them to full capabilities,. Take offs, with his patented pauses in un-predictable fashion are stellar. Schon never within lack of variety catagory.
Unfortunately (from what I’ve seen lately) he plays his guitars through such a processed sound, I don’t think anyone can hear the difference between a new and vintage instrument. A vintage 63 strat DEFINITELY feels different than an off the shelf custom shop. Neck radius makes u play differently too.
Honestly though, how many people are actually capable of discerning between a vintage guitar and a modern guitar heard through an amplifier sans processing??? 🤔🤨🙄😒😑
A guitar straight into an amp with barely any effects, is boring as hell. It's the plain, dry white toast with no butter of guitar tones. Neal has great tone to me. And fits for the music he's playing perfectly. Plain guitar tone can stay with jazz which is one of the most unexciting styles of music out there are far as I'm concerned. To each his own though.
@@yanossnicklefritz7064 I guess you haven’t heard a vintage strat (or les Paul…etc) straight into a cranked Fender deluxe or Marshall Plexi. I’ll take that any day over an over processed sound.
@@rort1371 More times than I could ever count Rort. I've known so many blues and country players, been to way too many blues jams, worked in some of the biggest stores. It bores me more I think because it's so over done and plain.
I never understood what people talk about his being a jackass. I've run into at least 20 times over the years and he's always been a ton of fun. He's answered any questions I've asked and taught me how to play the Dead Or Alive riff. He's just incredibly nice. So is his wife. She is a lovely person who just steps back and let him do the talking, always with a smile on her face.
Great player! Have to laugh when he gets in trouble by his wife for having too many guitars😂 Actually won an Optek Fretlight strat , when he was endorsing them with an autographed CD of Neal’s. Beyond The Thunder

Same! I’m praying these two do an album together. They are my two FAVORITE guitarists. (a double album would be best)
Neal Schon is a Melody Majesty…..still get goosebumps from some of his melodic solos…..learnt so many of em….
I’ve met this guy several times, and he’s ALWAYS laid-back, friendly, and really cool.

He is known for great melodic lead lines!
Friendly down to earth guy and a great musician.
Neal is an amazing musician. I love the fact that he continuously strives to get better at his craft and you can tell he just loves playing.
Neil has excellent technique but he is so melodic, that’s what I love most about his playing. Very underrated guitarist 👍

Fantastic video. Great great great guitar player. Amazing guitars.

Man after my own heart :)
Very kool! I like Neil’s honesty on vintage guitars. Some of the best guitars are being built right now. Production and Custom Shop.
Always a great player so melodic great personality as,well
When the collector is the interview and it's Neal Schon don't get jergens on your popcorn!
Melody. It's what George Benson told Larry King that was missing from music in an interview I saw in 1996. Neal gets it
Yeah man he’s the man he was incredible even when he was young I liked his old style of playing to Steve Luke if there is another one
